Took a rifle to them sometime ago to see if I can get another barrel made. Called prior to my arrival to make sure . I was told that there gunsmith could look at it . Upon arriving with the firearm, I told the gunsmith what I would like to get done gunsmith began complaining that he will not work on my firearm and complained that my rifle had chambering issues, would "blow up" along with other "crazy stuff " he seemed to be making up. I explained to him that I fired the rifle with no issues and chambered the round just fine. Myself along with the sales rep seemed puzzled by the gunsmith's attitude/response! I had to apologize myself because I didn't know if I "triggered " some type of reaction/ response or nerve!!! At the end of the day sales rep apologized but I think that I will pass on doing business with them . Crazy thing is I've been to this place a few times and never had a problems prior to this trip when their gunsmith came out and started his "bashing "session !!!!!! I've been to Duffy's four times over the past six months. One was to stop in with my wife to discuss a handgun purchase at the end of 2019 and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The latter three visits were to purchase a firearm after that onset of the COIVD crisis. The staff continued to be helpful and efficient. They were led by the owner/manager who directed traffic, coached staff, prompted customers, and generally moved a high volume (I assume, for them) of anxious customers through the store in an efficient manner. Their demeanor might has seemed brusque to some but given the circumstances, completely understandable. In 2020, gun stores are under a lot of stress and Duffy's seems to be handling things as well as can be. Thanks Duffy's, I'll be back! read more

It's far from where I live but sooooo worth the trip. They have just about everything you could need for your gun sporting/ hunting needs. I went in for a VZ 58 rifle and they had it. I went with a friend and she bought a pistol from them. They were one of the friendliest gun shops around. Knowledgable and helpful. Even other customers were friendly. The place is small and looks a little like a sunny surplus in a good way. Their selection was good and if you wanted to mount a machine gun on your Hummer I think they would help to get it. I have been to some shops were the sales guys are asses like in whitemarsh but these are top notch. If you are not a people person work in the back.Their ammo matched Walmarts prices on her caliper. I finally visited after several recommendations. The shop is standard AR oriented plus handguns. The stuff I'd be interested in is sold on their GB site and is available for inspection at Duffy's with prior notice. I'll keep my eye out and possibly exercise this option. Before going to Duffy's I had been to gun shops in Timonium and Bel Air. I was starting to think that gun shop employees must all be dicks until I visited Duffy's. Duffy's treats all of their customers with respect unlike every other gun place I have EVER been to in my life. They were friendly, very helpful and are even able to give a history lesson or two on machine guns and rifles. They have some pretty cool guns at competitive prices. I bought my first gun there and the transaction went very smoothly. I plan to return many more times in the future. They don't have a range on sight, but the location is in a nice area. You can stop by the farmer's market and get some produce on your way there, buy a gun, then continue down the road to Basignani to do a wine tasting. read more

I recently purchased a firearm from Duffy's and wanted to express my extreme appreciation and gratitude to the staff. As a novice shooter it's always a little intimidating when you walk into a gun store and are looking for assistance. I initially called and spoke with Kevin looking for a specific firearm and was pleased to hear at the other end of the phone somebody who wanted to engage in a conversation and not just a "yes""no" response. Upon arriving I had the opportunity to work with Joe on my purchase. Unluckily for me, my first MD gun purchase provided some unexpected difficulties (ChessieFCU I'll get to your review another time). Joe and the rest of the staff were more than sympathetic to my situation. She called me up after my seven day wait, finalized my purchase and had me on my way. I had been going to Continental Arms in Timonium but got chased away when I showed up with my mother to help her make a firearm purchase. When Continental Arms seemed to think an older woman had no business being near firearms, I took her to Duffy's Gun Room. What a world of difference a 10 mile drive makes!!! Duffy's is FANTASTIC!!! First off they showed no attitude towards an older woman with limited firearm knowledge. In fact they were EXTREMELY patient and helpful with her to find a good home defense firearm. The knowledge of the staff was superb. I'm a Marine. I've fired just about every kind of firearm you can think of from pistols to turret mounted machine cannon. I know my stuff, and I'll vouch for the guys at Duffy's Gun Room knowing their stuff. They know their craft. They know how to treat customers like people (which is more than I can say for their closest geographic competitor) Aside from customer service they also have a fantastic selection of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Mostly in stock, too. They have more employees than customers in the store any time I've been there so there is no shortage of service. Their prices are good too. They aren't giving guns away, but they aren't far off. Their prices are very reasonable. If you're in the Northern Baltimore County area it's not even a question. Avoid Continental Arms and go to Duffy's. They will treat you right, save you money, and make you feel welcome in the store. If you're not in the area, make the drive. It's worth a 45 minute drive to save money and get good quality customer service. read more

Awesome place awesome staff. Took my rifle here to get my scope put on. Brian was there and took care of me. I actually brought the wrong rings the first time and he started and realized they were wrong. He brought it back out and said they were wrong and he was sorry but to bring it back when I got the right ones. So I came back a week later he came out checked them said good to go mounted the scope super quick. Came out checked my rye relief and finished her up. When he was done I asked about a million and a half questions lol and he answered everyone without hesitation. He even went as far as to pull expensive scopes out of the display to show me and let me see an example. We talked about hunting a little and I could tell he was very knowledgeable about guns and everything to do with them great guy would highly recommended them and also not to forget the other two guys who showed me some guns and taught me some stuff I never knew about a smaller 6.5 Creedmoor round and the woman who was there also showed me a gun and was extremely nice as well great people not cocky and stuck up like other gun shops go check them out will use them again no doubt!! read more

People in the gun business tend to be "good people" generally, but Vince and the other associates are remarkably nice and helpful. Duffy's came highly recommended by a friend as "good people" and boy was he right. I have been to many gun store and gun shows. I have never been helped as quickly or thoroughly as I was at Duffy's. This was at the height of the panic and right before the 10/1/2013 ban. The shop was full of customers There was even a line out the door on my second visit. If the sales rep you are talking to does not know the answer to your question he will get someone who does. I have been to gun shops were the only answer to my question was "I don't know". If they don't have what you are looking for they will get it for you. I will be back for future purchases and I have been recommending them to everyone. I recently had some firearms that were damaged and took them up to the Duffy's to have them looked at. Not only are all the employees knowledgeable, they don't have that air of arrogance and bravado that some establishments close by them seem to thrive on. They gave solid, professional advise along with very personable banter. I have purchased from them in the past during the gun rush of 2013 and they were always courteous, welcoming and patient no matter how many people were in their establishment. Duffy's is a great place to go for anything related to guns. They have TON is ammo, I have never walked in to Duffy's looking for ammo and come out empty handed. They have a great selection of rifles, handguns and shotguns. If they don't have what you are looking for they are always willing to help you find it. If they can't find it and you can they are always willing to accept to transfer. Also if you are looking for a gunsmith, Duffy's can't be beat. I have brought my shotgun to them twice and both times they were able to fix it when others couldn't. There prices reflect their expertise and customer service. No they aren't the cheapest place around, But I am willing to pay a premium for the level of knowledge, expertise and customer service I get when I walk in their door.
