Inexpensive Duke City fun. Upon arrival we were greeted by Rocco (sp ?) with a nice bottle of ice cold water and a smile. Once all participants were seated we were off to the first of three microbreweries on the agenda. Pedaling was easy although the contraption does have a small motor. We may have hit 4 mph but I doubt it, the journey was as much fun as the brewpubs. All too soon it was over. A note to future users, don't forget to tip the driver. Our group was very young and they bolted the minute we stopped. I'll attribute that to their age but I would guess that they would know about gratuities by this point in their lives. read more

About a year back, a good friend recapped her trip to Denver by highlighting her ride on a group bike that doubled as a pub. "Oh my god, Howie, it was so fun. You drink beer and pedal around the city. It's exactly what Albuquerque needs. We decided that we're going to do it. We're going to bring the same thing here." Little did I know--little did she know--that a few people were all over that, already. The Duke City Pedaler had been fabricated and was awaiting a permit to roll around our downtown streets, just like the bike in Denver, sans one rather enormous component: beer. Simply put, the city won't allow beer on a bike, or a bus, or any vehicle on the street (Not in train! Not in a tree! Not in a car! Sam! Let me be!) and while I'm all in for the European laissez faire lifestyle wherein barley pops are available virtually anywhere (c'mon 'Merica, movie theaters, please) I'll take exception in this particular city. The 505 has a major DWI problem and I'm glad this fine example of ecologically sensible, fitness-focussed transportation doesn't flaunt booze. They don't need to. They offer fun tours of our brew scene on a clean, wickedly styled Route 66 cycling monster, and the exercise is enough to sober up any rider. They're also expanding the menu of tours to include coffee and growers market themes, which, were I living downtown (and a decade younger) would be right down my alley. My ride was themed for International Talk Like a Pirate Day and I'll commend our captain, the guy was totally on top of it, dressed and ready for the p-arrrrt. I'd absolutely recommend this bike for team building, bachelorette parties, first dates, whatever. It actually makes our city look relatively fun on a Friday night, which is precisely what we could use a whole lot more of. read more

You just can't go wrong with the Duke City Pedaler! What a fantastic and joyous ride we had around downtown with the coolest tour guide who dressed up like a pirate with us and had by far the best pirate accent! Piraccent? We stopped at Soul and Vine which was classy and delicious, followed by more pedaling around town, yelling Arr Mateys at the locals and ringing the bell! Our legs were mighty and we made it to our locations quite speedily; way to go Elite! We then popped off the bike at the Forque (inside the Hyatt) and had a nice brew on tap and some great conversation. After grabbing our sips, we hopped back on our bike and took off towards a new brewery, Boese, which had one tasty Amarillo Ale if I do say so myself! Many seemed to enjoy the Scottish Ale as well! Yuuuum. They had sooome kind of version of shuffle board, but the highlight of my night? They had a Pac Man (other various old timey games) machine! Scooooore! The night truly could not have been executed any better. We worked up a bit of a burn as we pedaled our booty-s (pun intended lol) back to the Civic Plaza where we got many a photos on the big red chair! The Duke City Pedaler is a lot of fun! We had "Talk Like a Pirate" night with some Yelp friends and we all saddled up and jammed out while we pedaled our way to drinking holes around the city! DCP is very accommodating, and it has room for your things to be held while you're pedaling along. The pedaling itself is not that difficult and no one in our group was having difficulties keeping up with the pedaling. You feel like a rockstar rolling through the streets in this trolley of fun, and it's so easy to go out and have a good time without having to worry about cabs or driving. Overall I would highly recommend this for the experience with a big group of friends. read more

My friends and I splurged for a birthday party and we had the BEST time We visited four different breweries and tasted some delicious beer. The pedal bike a great! There was one seat on the bike that was loose so we took turns with that. The only other bad thing is it looks like you can drink while you pedal because there are cup holders but that is deceptive. You can't drink while on the bike. The bike holds 14 people and luckily if everyone stops pedaling toward the end, it has an engine that keeps you going. A few of the breweries are pretty far apart so we got in some good cardio. Those of us that pedaled the whole time. A few of us were slackers. Anyway I totally recommend this funness for a great and adventurous evening. Don't forget to uber home! Cheers! read more

You're supporting local business and having the best time doing it! Our local and amazing Community Manager orchestrated another wonderful event and I was lucky enough to grab a spot. I stink at talking like a pirate but I was down for some "Talk Like a Pirate" day fun. One of the best parts (this one had a lot of 'best parts'), you quickly worked off the delicious adult bevy calories from one of the stops with all the pedaling that followed. It could have been the infectious soundtrack (yup! they let you plug in to the pedalers sound system) that has us cycling our hearts out but I'm pretty sure it was just the pure joy of cycling through downtown ABQ. Cody, our Captain/Guide for the evening was the best! You should request him - you will not be disappointed. He kept the fun going from beginning to end. Plus, he gives out cool stickers and a fun prize at the end if you answer a fun trivia question correctly. Not sure if that is the norm but it was a fun way to cap off the night! I did the beer bike a few weeks ago with some friends - our group took up about half the "bike" and another group of six filled it up completely. Thankfully, everyone came to have fun, and we all enjoyed the day. So you get on this "bike" and there are 10 seats with pedals, 5 on each side, plus a bench in the back that can squeeze 4 people who can just relax. I don't think the pedaling actually does much, because the "bike" is powered by a small engine. It's still fun, and you do feel like you're burning a few of the calories from the drinks you're enjoying along the way. They say you can do three breweries in one day, but it all depends on which ones you pick (there's a pretty good list of places from downtown to the Wells Park area.) Our co-riders had a birthday, so they chose our stops. We went to Duel first, then Marble, then finished at Red Door. Because we were all super slow in each stop, we got dropped off at the last place (which, thankfully, was the closest one to where we'd started.) You have about 35 minutes in each stop, which is okay for a drink, but really fast if you're trying to eat anything! You should know that you are only drinking IN the bars, you can't drink on the bike itself. The bike has Bluetooth, and our co-riders played DJ for us for the day. Is there any greater joy than riding down Central, blasting Spice Girls, all the men on the bike shout-singing along? I think not. Pro-tip: Confirm where you are supposed to meet the bike, because the tickets said one thing but the emailed directions said another. I believe the SW corner of 3rd St. and Tijeras Ave is the right place, at least that's where we went. And make sure you get the sticker from the bike driver, it gets you $1 off your beer in most of the places. Get all your pals together, load your phone with your favorite jams, and do this. Shiver me timbers and blow me down, I had a boatload of fun with the Duke City Pedaler on the eve of Talk Like a Pirate Day. Cody, our Capitan, expertly guided us safely through ABQ downtown with well timed stops to quench our thirst and sate our hunger. Dressed as pirates, we pedaled through rivers of people and collected delicious booty at Soul & Vine, Forque and Boese Brothers Brewery. The tunes wafted out as we pedaled in time to our destinations. The whole crew of 14 was totally committed to having a wonderful experience. Duke City Pedaler is one of the hidden gems in the Q. If you're looking for something to do in Albuquerque that will excite the kid in you again, take a flight on Duke City Pedaler and experience the excitement, camaraderie and pure joy of the cruise. read more

This party bike was a blast! It's a moving party (sans booze - booo Abq!), that takes you all over downtown Abq and can be seen at functions in Nob Hill as well. What made our night fun was the following: SETUP; The bike has a cool, fun semi-leader (our was Cody) who will guide you along the night, watch your stuff, steer/brake the bike and play your jams. Semi-leader b/c he's very laid back but keeps it all together. ROUTE; The downtown area was bustling w/ people and action. My logic says that if local venues are open and busy, it means more crazy people out and about, and that's more peeps waving and yelling. Hence, more fun. Do that on a dead night and it may not be as fun. Finally, it was not too long or too short between stops. STOPS; Our stops were Yelp sponsored and terrific. We had a bite and some brews along the way, just as it should be. I won't tell you where to go or in what order, but I can suggest keeping the food and drinks on the lighter side for more enjoyable pedaling. I'm not sure it would have been the same if I'd had full course meals, heavy on carbs + cheesecake for dessert. MUSIC: I can't name a single tune that was played that night, but I do know it was something we had fun listening to. Bring tunes and Cody will plug them in for you. If not, be prepared to sing songs along the way - that could work too. ;) PEEPS; This may be the sinc most important part of the deal. I was with my Yelpy comrades, dressed in theme of the day (Talk Like A Pirate Day), and I won the jackpot on cool peeps to hang with that night. Our group had no slackers on the pedals, had fun fever the entire night and left the downtown area in no doubt of our intention to celebrate the holiday at hand. HEROIN: (***There is no heroin. It's just a better title than 'Other', but would not be a great drug to use on the bike trip. I would think trying to shoot up while pedaling would be very tough. Also, I hear it really brings you down and that would not be great if your bike trip memory was just nodding out for the duration. You'd be bad teammate! So, NO HEROIN***) That was my experience in a nutshell and my ingredients to the recipe of fun Our day coincided w/ a fun day. I suggest thinking of a theme and work it. It will make your trip that much more memorable. I'd say ask for Cody and plan on having fun. You'll be glad you saw some Duke City this way. He is a personable guide who connected with everyone aboard. I would love to do this again the next time I'm in town. Duke City Pedaler has brought a new exciting way to experience downtown ABQ. My first and hoepfully not the last pedaler experience was at the Yelp's Plunderin' Pedal. it was a night full of pirates, drinks, laughter, onlookers, and of course pedaling. It was tons of fun to pedal a party bike on the streets of downtown. I remember fondly laughing with everyone as we set off to our next destination. We pedal to three outstanding places and were lucky enough to have DJ Howie aboard to provide some awesome music. Part of the fun was waving and interacting with the crowd that was walking. I would recommend Duke City Pedaler to anyone looking for an unique, easy, and jubilant time in ABQ downtown. I can't wait to do it again!!! read more

This was my first close-up experience with DCP. I did not ride; they were present at a local beer festival I attended. For hours, this pedal truck thing went careening through a crowd of literally hundreds of people in a confined space, all holding glass. A few were in wheelchairs. The "driver" was obnoxious, yelling and honking the horn at people to get out of the way. There was nowhere for pedestrians to go, and the vehicle had to make three point turns (by being pushed) just to turn around. I didn't see that it had seatbelts or any restraints at all, and I would not be surprised if somebody fell off... especially considering a loose seat mentioned in a recent review. It was an incredibly rude and dangerous situation that made many people angry. read more

Awful business practice! Stay away, it's a waste of money anyway they only take you a few blocks. It's faster to just walk. Terrible customer service. Some people didn't show up, so they let others take their spot and left, then almost an hour late the people show up so they kick the other people off and make them walk!!!! Can't believe it. As retired full-time RV'ers we're fortunate to get to go to new parts of the country and do interesting things. We had seen these types of bike parties on TV, but had never taken part. The Duke City Pedaler changed all that. And we had a GREAT time! Yup, we pedaled (it wasn't too tough, even for two people approaching 60); yup, we drank (awesome bars with lots of great beers to choose from); and yup, we had a great and unique view of downtown that most people don't get to see. But the best part of the whole experience was getting to meet and talk with all the people on our bike. We were even invited out after the tour was over to continue the festivities. We made friends and memories that we'll always remember. I'm sure we'll be back in Albuquerque again sometime, and when we do we'll make sure the first call will be to Duke City Pedaler for another tour. read more
