Afraid of cataract surgery? I couldn't even put eye drops in prior to my first cataract surgery 5…read moreweeks ago. I didn't know what to expect...so here's some info. They call you back pretty much on time. Make sure to follow directions (no food or drink, someone to stay during your procedure and to drive you afterwards, etc.). You go to holding area. No changing clothes or removing shoes even. Dress comfortably. No makeup, etc. You'll lay on a bed and they start putting eye drops in, asking some questions, I got an IV? (like an IV so they could give me meds to do a block in order to do my surgery, I don't think they do that with all surgeries). Since I was medicated for the block, I ended up in the operating room without knowledge of the trip there. They covered my face and I don't know what else in order to do the procedure. I was aware but it seemed sort of distant. I was aware when Dr. Murrell came in and was talking to me. It seemed like I could see shadows while he was doing the procedure but I didn't see anything coming at my eye nor did I feel the need to blink or dodge something like I thought I would do. I was terrified to have the procedure. I was very nervous. I couldn't even stand to have somebody put eye drops in. I thought I would actually fight the equipment that was holding my eye open while they were doing the procedure. But I didn't even have the urge. It was really not nearly as traumatic as I was expecting. Afterwards, you basically immediately get to drink something and leave. They send you to get something to eat and then you go back to your doctor's office for a quick check. I had Dr. Murrell do my eyes. I am telling my experience with him at the Surgery Center. I don't know if it is the same for pretty much all doctors but you could ask. I just thought I'd try to let other people know of my experience in case you might have some of the same thoughts.

Been going to Dr. Dobler-Dixon for over 2 years for Glaucoma problems. Had surgery on both eyes…read more Dr. Dobler-Dixon is an EXCELLENT doctor with an excellent reputation. Shown by the number of patients requesting her services, waiting room is always packed!! I drive 100 miles on way to see Dr. Dobler-Dixon about every 3 months. She's such an excellent doctor that I'd wait longer if need be......

Five minutes later they come back out to the waiting area. Then wait another 30 minutes at least before being called back in. This happens on average of three times from what I've witnessed. This is ridiculous!!!! Just heard from another patient it's always this way and she's the only one in Amarillo that provides this service!!!!! Calling all eye surgeons!!!! Give Amarillo some options! From my experience I'm willing to drive my mother to Dallas each time just so we can get more attentive care!!!! We have lives too doc!!!!!!!!!!! To add to her incredibly unprofessional management with patients time. She prescribed an eye drop that had to be specially ordered ( which caused my mother to have to go 5 days without her "prescribed" eye drops AFTER surgery ) and would have cost her $183. After I looked into it she could have had the generic of the same drug for $17 and could have gotten right away. I had to demand a different prescription because she had specifically written the prescription for that brand. Even then I had a hard time ( took me two days) getting them to resend it with what my mom could afford. She's getting kickbacks I'm sure and if you request to speak with her on the phone about it you'll bee directed to a "technician". Sketchy practice if you ask me.

I honestly don't even know where to start. My experience with Maleah was beyond frustrating. Edith…read morewas amazing tho. I got glasses from here the same day. After the drive home I couldn't see clearly out of my right eye. I came back next day and waiting over 45 minutes i finally got to talk to Maleah about it, and instead of checking the prescription or making sure the lenses were correct, she brushed it off and told me that I just needed time to adjust. The problem with that excuse is my prescription DIDN'T EVEN CHANGE, so there was nothing to "adjust" to. Why didn't the guy in the beginning tell me like she did, they won't check your eyes for another week, keep in mind I asked to check the lens not my eyes. On top of that, I was charged more than what I was originally told online and in person. The prices I was quoted didn't match what I ended up paying, which only added to the frustration. $50 extra. The whole experience left me feeling like my concerns didn't matter. When a customer says they can't see out of their new glasses, the last thing they should be told is to just give it time without anyone even verifying that the prescription is correct. I left upset, ignored, overcharged, and she wouldn't refund me the full amount. Save your money, time, and energy. Awful service, company, and attitude.

The only person who was friendly was the girl who checked me in. When I went into the pre exam the woman Maddie was not kind or helpful. She explained nothing about the tests and when I was having to retake the exams 4 or 5 times because she was on her phone scrolling social media which I watched with my eyes. From the time my pre exams started to the end she was on that phone and she seemed extremely frustrated with me but I continued to ask questions because my eyesight is extremely important to me! Then come to find out it's not even the "doctor" who does the actual lenses exam it's the Maddie woman. During the lenses exams she was flying through them and everytime I would ask for a redo on the 1and 2 she would sigh heavily again. She made me feel very uncomfortable to ask anything and she didn't tell me a thing about my eyes. I don't understand no one even looked at my eyes but apparently I have all these expensive recommendations with no explanation so I'm very afraid that the lenses aren't correct for my vision! I'll never be back to this location as I feel the "doctor" guy in white coat who kisses certain customers on the cheeks and skips me to handle "high profile " customers who were behind me in line do not deserve my money. I've never been to a more unprofessional unpleasant eye place in my life. I only have it 2 stars because of the first woman who checked me in she was very kind very friendly. My copay was only supposed to be $25 but the guy in the white coat said because I was going online to buy my glasses (I was not giving this place anymore of my money) that I had to pay $79 and he went over to the wall picked out one yellow sticker glasses and one blue sticker glasses when the wall states "2 pair of glasses for $79 blue tag" so I am confused why he chose a yellow sticker and then made ME pay for that. I told him to donate the 2 pairs to the elderly or to children and I feel he took advantage of my kindness. I spoke with my insurance and I was ONLY supposed to pay $25 so again just another untrustworthy reason not to return. I have never left a review but the experience I had on 7-18-26 was awful and truly disappointing experience especially dealing with something as important as eyesight.
