This is the first time I have decided to just rent a house as opposed to going with one of the cottages or Inns. AirBnB is typically my first go to option when making these types of arrangements elsewhere, but after doing a little bit of digging this local establishment on the Island had a much wider selection of properties for rent in far more desirable locations on the Island. Based upon what I know of islanders, I would surmise many of the local property owners are wary of places like AirBnB and prefer to deal with somebody local. That is just how it works up there. So after doing some digging and finding a place that I loved, I reached out to a gentleman named Mike Kickbush who is the main point of contact for the company. The process was simple enough. He emailed me a form with the rules and stipulations of the rental (all of 3 pages), and I signed it and snail mailed it back to him along with a 500.00 deposit. No extensive or exhaustive process or legalities. No demand for everything but a damn DNA sample at all like most similar vendors. It's nice to see that some people on the planet still operate on a basic principle of trust. Quite refreshing. On the day of my arrival, I gave Mike a call from the Ferry over from the mainland and he dropped off the key for in a drop box and I was good to go. That's it. Simple. The place I stayed at was called 107 "The Cove" and if you are not in need of a large place for several people, this location was incredible. It's located right on the water on Hemlock road on the East side of the Island and offers ridiculous post card views at every turn. My photos, nor the ones on the website, really do it justice. The place was basic, but well furnished and equipped with most of the comforts of home, and plenty of cookware and utensils. The only items that I had to bring with me were linens for the beds. At the conclusion of my stay, I dropped the key back off and headed out. This was without question the most hassle free vacation rental I have ever scored. So why 4 stars as opposed to 5? I only cap this for a 2 minor annoyances. The first being that they do not take credit cards whatsoever. While this is hardly uncommon on Washington Island as many places do not accept cards, it is a tad more of an inconvenience for large dollar amount purchases like a rental. Second, the companies website is badly in need of some webmastering and some updates. It's awfully slow and in need of a facelift. This would be far more apt to attract clients, and make their process for checking out properties much easier. Overall, this is still a great option if you are looking to spend some time on Washington Island. As a last parting word of advice, and something that anyone looking for a place in Door County should be mindful of, BOOK EARLY, especially if you are planning your visit during high tourist traffic times.

This was one of the nicest lake homes that we have ever stayed. We had a party of four guys on a…read morefishing trip. The house is only 5 years old. There is plenty of space in every room. Also, it was extremely clean clean. The fishing was very good with a variety of fish(Crappie, walleye, perch, smallmouth and a 40" musky). I would recommend this house for your next fishing or snowmobile trip. The owner, Ron, was nice and friendly person. We will be back.

First off..what a great weekend! First off a fully furnished house with dish, dvd player, and all the other great amenities and placed right on the water with you're own private dock is a rare find (not that we used much more than the coffee maker due to all the fishing). Personally I spent much of the weekend kayak fishing and boat fishing with my buddy, and the ladies enjoyed the peace and solitude that water front property in the north woods of WI affords. Suffices to say we are very happy with the weekend, especially compared to more than double the rates we have paid in the past for a run down cabin much more removed from the water. Lastly..taking a boat across the lake to a bar/restaurant to enjoy a few WI brews and deliver a great pizza back to the house at 11pm is an experience I'll not forget. All in all - great experience, and we'll be back. Highly recommended.

we are truly disappointed to have to leave a bad review we had such a great time in the u.p. and it…read morewas nice to use the cabin as a warm spot to sleep. first we were woken up at 3am to what I would assume I'd thier water heater making the loudest most alarming noise. this water heater is in the closet of the bedroom you sleep in 2 feet from the top of the bed. I think now it's the cleaning schedule they have for it Maybe to run in the middle of the night while you have renters. then the day we leave after going through thier check out list multiple times which is to basically clean the house for the house keepers so they dont have to pay them. they message us stating there was a dog there and we now owe them more money. I have picture, gps, and video proof all my animals were at home being cared for. if there was any dog hair from us it fell of our clothes and was absolutely minimal. we have huskies and st Bernard's they shed alot even with fresh cleaned clothes there is a small amount of hair on my clothes and we were there for a week. it is entirely possible a few dog hairs fell off our clothes but not nearly as much as my own post partum hair I bet. if you have animals I don't suggest staying with them or they will attempt to charge you more if they find a dog hair.

In the winter, its absolutely beautiful. They have an indoor pool/hot tub/sauna. Also a big indoor fireplace and games and books, pinball, ping pong, tons of stuff to do. Just down the road from Ski Brule. Its better to rent a cabin here and use the pool because Ski Brule has no pool. Lac O Season is more kid friendly and owned by great people. Highly Recommend!!!
