Communication is so bad, I honestly can't understand why anyone would go here more than once! It's not worth the aggravation. You can have the best councilors in the world, but if their support staff is garbage, find someone else.

It's a $135 class that runs from 8:30am-2pm on a Saturday, with the last two hours of the class devoted to finance. Needless to say, we weren't too excited about spending our day off in a church basement being told how to talk to each other. Surprisingly, Mark Ramirez, the counselor running the class, had some pretty good insight into our personalities after reviewing the Mejer/Jung typology test we were required to complete before attending. We'd be given 30 minute periods where each couple would go off on their own to discuss results from the test & our thoughts on them. I found the class to be helpful in that it gives couples the opportunity to realize the importance of effective communication. Along with the workshop fee is a complimentary follow up session also.

I have known Sean for 12 years now. He started out as my son's therapist and our family therapist…read morewhen my son had to be placed into a residential facility. He has Autism, Epilepsy and Schizophrenia. Once our son discharged from that facility we followed Sean when he opened his business. He continued to be our son's therapist for a few years. When it came time for me to need a therapist, Sean took me on as his client. I was so thankful as I knew I was about to enter one of the most painful and trying times of my entire life. With Sean knowing me and my family personally, I was already comfortable with him and also had gained that therapeutic relationship with him. Now we could build on that. I was correct about this season in my life being the roughest, most painful and trying times I have ever faced. Sean has been a constant and consistent person in my life. He is patient, caring, kind and his insight is out of this world. I have come a long way and I know I have a long way to go. Sean walking beside me through this really does help. It is also a huge comfort to me. I have seen 3 therapists in my life and by far, Sean is the best one. He really does "get" me and has helped me up till now so much and I know he will continue to do so. I definitely recommend him!

When we first met Sean, our son's world was a cross between the movies "A Beautiful Mind" (about a schizophrenic who hallucinates terrifying things) and Sixth Sense (a boy who sees dead people and the horrific ways in which they died). After six months of therapy and some medication changes, our son is amazed at how peaceful he feels when there is nothing going on in his head besides his own thoughts. We highly recommend Sean Martiny at Avani Counseling!

Lighthouse recovery is as good as it gets! Foremost, every member of the staff loves what they do…read moreand they really care about the people they treat. The founder and clinical director Nate Lanthrum has poured his heart and soul into Lighthouse. Essentially, Nate customizes a plan for you, based on your goals and needs. He combines the most successful components of various addiction recovery techniques (including the most current treatment modalities) and has made something original. He's deeply intelligent, humble and he brings a great sense of humor into the recovery process. One of the most intimidating parts of entering a recovery program is the admissions. Marty handles the intake process for new clients and makes the process as easy as humanly possible. Marty's basic philosophy is "we will do everything in our power to work with you and get you the help you need." Lighthouse doesn't turn people away who can't afford the program because they actually care about people. If you have insurance then Marty handles that aspect for you and gets you enrolled. Lighthouse offers medication assisted treatment. Their on staff physician is Dr Steve Holtsford. He is incredibly down to earth, intelligent, and caring. I have not had such a pleasant experience with a doctor in ages. He is really thorough yet expeditious. You never feel hurried during your time with him. He encourages you to be gentle with yourself when you need medication, and he is more than willing to assist you in your goals of tapering off medications. Lighthouse is a world class institution. If you need help, if someone you love needs help, give them a call. Asking Lighthouse for help might be the best thing you ever do for yourself or someone close to you.

I started seeing Amy at the suggestion of my psychiatrist in order to help with some sleeping…read moreissues through cognitive behavioral therapy. Honestly, I was extremely resistant - I didn't want to see a therapist, I didn't want to talk through issues, and I really didn't think CBT would help at all with my sleeping problems. I finally gave in, agreeing to "time box" the sessions to 10 weeks, just to give it a shot and see if it would help. After my first session with Amy, my wife and I both noticed improvements in my ability to fall asleep, my quality of sleep, and my overall mood and energy because of my sleep, within just a couple of days. Fast forward several months later, including multiple weeks of seeing Amy more than once a week. The 10 week "time box" is obviously well past, and I've begun to allow Amy and her expertise into more of my life and to help me deal with even more issues in my life, from being a better husband, father, employee, and just a better person in general. To be completely honest, I really wanted to not like seeing a therapist, and frankly, not like Amy. But now, I can't imagine my life without seeing Amy and having her help me through things, give me my homework, and help me to learn that I can work through mental hurdles with various strategies she's taught me. Amy has always been available - she's very prompt to return phone calls and even text messages when I have needed her, has been very flexible to work around my schedule, and genuinely cares about me and my family. If you're looking for a great therapist and someone who will care about you, get to know you, and take time for you, I highly recommend Amy. She's helped more than my sleep, she's changed my life and sticking with her past 10 weeks has been the best decision I've made in a long time.
