I had a yummy coffee in the beautiful front office on arrival. I didn't even feel as if I was at the Dentist. They let me choose whatever music I wanted to listen to during my fillings appointment, and I had the TV on the ceiling running too- which was awesome, it made the time fly by. Dr Linny was very gentle - I didn't even feel the needle. The lady at reception answered all of my questions and was just lovely. I would definitely recommend Dental on Blackwood to anyone wanting quality work in a relaxing, friendly environment.

A dental group that doesn't judge!…read more After visiting Essential Dental Group a few times (turns out my teeth have more than a few fillings) I was whole-heartedly ready to recommend this to others, and have done so. The business was recommended to me by my doctor, whose advice I trust. I actually decided to drop in to Essential Dental before my first booking, since I was in the area. When I asked for an initial booking, I expected to hear "Well, we have a space opening up in about 5 weeks..." and instead got, "What time? This afternoon?" There's always an opening at Essential Dental, but I can attest this has nothing to do with the quality of work here. Hidden away on the top floor at Paddington Central, even some staff working in the larger complex had to be informed by me that the place actually existed. Not only have I been able to book appointments at the last minute, they're also fine about cancelling appointments, too (which I don't like to do to them because they're so damn nice. Even if they are dentists.) And the appointments are very, very cheap relative to that of other dentists. The dentist himself is aware that people like to watch their money, so he'll give you several options for immediate action if you're cash-strapped during a particular appointment (or want to chicken out of another filling). Or, if money is no object, he'll fix up whatever you want then and there. I knew I had a few issues with the molars up the back when I rocked up here. I expected the usual dental professional's overreaction to their state, which looks fine to me but has had other dentists practically fainting. At Essential Dental, the dentist just nodded indifferently at my molars and went ahead with the job. No judgment whatsoever. Unbelievable. He didn't even accuse me of not flossing enough, or tell me the way I'm brushing my teeth is wrong. I'm still stunned. Get your teeth done here. I hate having to go to the dentist - the drill is surely intended as a torture instrument (the film Marathon Man proves this). But if you gotta go, go here.

When my dentist of 20 years retired I decided to try St Lucia Dental which has been a very amazing and rewarding experience. Dr Angus Quinn has just completed a Bridge and when I saw the result I was nearly in tears as the colour match was perfect, the teeth looked more real than my original teeth, the fit was perfect and suddenly I am now really happy to smile. The surgery has the latest state-of-the-art equipment, bright surgeries with views of trees, the charges are competitive, and I must not forget to mention the very friendly and obliging reception staff. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this Dental practice.

The facilities are new, well cared for and hygienic. Parking is easy. The reception staff are always friendly and helpful. The dental assistants have always been attentive and gentle. I continue to go there. There is one little bug bear and that's witnessing the owner having hissy fits at his staff over minor issues like appointment stuff ups. I was there recently to see it first hand as I was walking past and it made me very uncomfortable. The staff elevated the volume of the music but it wasn't enough to drown out his loud angry tirade. I just thought it was quite unprofessional and I felt really badly for the dental assistants being roused on. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, that's all. In this day and age, this type of behaviour would get you a visit to Human Resources for bullying.

Don't even get me started on the pain they inflict on me and my poor teeth. Which is why I find this review hilarious. Why? Because I love this dentist. They tick all the boxes, healthcare provider rebates, clean, steady hands, state of the art equipment, before and after pictures, you name it. They have it. I've had my teeth scaled, cleaned and filled here. Even pulled. I can confidently say, not once have I felt any pain. Not once... sound impossible? Well that's what I thought. Dr Ha is very good at what he does. He makes all the other dentists I've gone too seem incompetent. He is professional, friendly and takes care of your fears... even fixes your teeth. They are very upfront with the prices as well so you're not caught unawares at the end. Tam cleaned my teeth and scaled them, twice. I didn't feel any pain at all... steady hands, steady efficient hands ensured the job was done without delay or speed. I was suitably very impressed. With the appearance of a house converted into a practice, there is a myriad of magazines in the waiting room with a large screen telly and kids cars and toys to amuse the little ones while you wait. The most important aspect is that he makes an impression of a dentist who genuinely wants to do a quality job. For a person like me who above all wants the dental work not only to look good, but also to last for many years, it is very important. The mild downside however are some communication difficulties, a difference between recommendations at different visits, and occasional inconsistency in opinions.
