This castle will always have a place in my heart. The first time I was here was 8 years ago and it'll always be a very memorable memory. Not far from Oban, it's along the waterfront. There's a parking lot that's at the beginning of the entrance. You have people out and about walking their dogs as well as family's out for a stroll. One side is the loch and then there's the castle and wooded area. The path leads you straight to the castle where you could have a wander through. You have nformations house to the right of it.
Just outside the castle there's a beautiful archway that's will alway have a place in my heart. If you stay along the pathways through the forest, you'll find the chapel. Its ruins now but still looks pretty spectacular. There's also a grave that's I believe is still utilized by the family line. If you continue through, you'll find a swing that's tied to a tree. It has changed from the last visit but still a cute little fun thing to try. The other side of the castle also has a view of the loch with the mountains in the background. This visit was pretty windy which made it very cold.
If you walk through the castle, it's a fun little experience. You have a feel of how the people would have lived back then. Walking through the ruins and looking out, it's pretty chilly to be able to experience something that dates way back. One of the MANY MANY castle in the country. But will always be special to me. read more
