For the next 4 weeks, i was told that my fence would be built the "next week." 12 weeks after my initial quote, my fence was built. The subcontractors told me that they were told to just come and start my fence to essentially shut me up. They dug holes on the thursday, promised to finish the job on friday, but never showed. Saturday, they came back and started again - they told me that they were called by the owner on friday and told to go to another job. They were also told to leave my job on the saturday as well. to go to another job. They finished on the sunday. (my job was a small side and back fence wall). At 7:25 monday morning there was a knock on my door wanting the cheque. I found this quite ironic given the whole ordeal. I like to support smaller businesses, but honestly, the only reason i went with this company was the timeframe they promised. In the end, i should have chosen a larger company that gave me quotes, as they still would have beat Empire's actual timeframe - not the timeframe they promise to get your business. Next summer i will be building a deck - this company will not be on the list of those i call requesting quotes. (also - be careful of the subcontractors - they tried to hide the dirt from the holes they dig...in my case, parking lots and city land by my property. When i questioned them on this, they just said "oh sorry." Other companies remove the debris and dirt.)

Half way through the job, they informed us that they needed to do even more work than agreed upon, costing a great deal more money. They added extra "waterproofing" solutions, which we later learned are not helping our home, but damaging it further. The work that they did has affected the structural integrity of our house causing cracks and sinking. The cost to fix this damage is more than double the cost of the original work we had done. Membranix refuses to take responsibility for this, even though we had an independent structural engineer confirm that the damage is a result of their work. Shame on us for trusting their "expertise" since every other foundation company that has looked at the work is disgusted by what Membranix has done. On top of all of that when they were doing the work, it took months to complete, they only showed up for work when they felt like it, sometimes not showing for days at a time, kept adding additional costs and were extremely difficult to get a hold of for information. When one of their employees swore at us and berated us, they refused to do anything about it. We have now met a number of great and professional contractors that we would recommend over Membranix. Membranix is rude, unprofessional and untrustworthy. Hire someone else and save yourself the money and stress that we have faced.

The competitor companies were lacking in this regard and quiet honestly, I thought they would not give the job the proper detail required. Profitek has even exceeded my expectations, with a simply outstanding finished product! The house has been completely transformed with the stucco addition. The color, finish and quality of the stucco job is outstanding! This has greatly increased our curb appeal and enhanced the overall house value dramatically. Mazen, for whom pretty much nothing is undoable or unsolvable, led a cheerful, energetic crew (they actually sing while they work!) who put in long hours during very hot days. The end result far exceeded our expectations. We were particularly impressed by some unplanned nice touches: covering an unsightly split concrete windowsill and a cracked concrete piece at the base of the door to the deck, for instance, and forming a couple of circumscribing groves in the chimney cladding for improved aesthetics. When I asked Mazen, a year later, if he could patch up a recessed wall area where a utility box used to be, he came that same day, and then returned a few days later for the finishing coat, graciously declining payment. All told, when it comes to EIFS/stucco projects, I recommend Mazen and his team without reservation.
