It's currently 1:03 PM. I arrived at the Durango Hills pool at 11:40 AM, earlier in the season they had the pool open at 12 PM for non-members huge signs. See pictures attached to this review that says the pool is open at 1 PM so I decided to sit and wait from 11:40 AM until 1 PM to go swimming. The employee gets there walks past me, She has an see me tons of times before gets herself all signed in about 10 minutes and then she finally asked me if I'm a member and I let her know of course I'm not a member and then she tells me that I can't swim till 2 o'clock. There's no sign outside of this window that shows at 2 PM Swim for nonmembers and the fact that I've been there for an hour and 20 minutes. Waiting to swim is ridiculous! A few of the lifeguards had walked past me and one I even asked if it opened at one and he said yes. A few people passed by and spoke to me and not one person said it's till 2 o'clock horrible horrible horrible customer service if you're not going to allow non-member swim you should have a huge sign with a clear time posted at the door and online. I don't want hear that they're "used to be assign" because that does nothing for somebody that's been out there for almost an hour and a half. Thank you for ruining my day. I will never come back again. I'm so upset with this place. I even called and was told that they would be open at 1 I'm so pissed right now. Other times that we've come here the lady that's currently on shift at 1 o'clock today was late and all of us sitting outside waiting to get in. Had to sit here and wait for her to be on time for her job to let people in YMCA you need to do a better job and put up sign so that way people know when your business is open. Also see the attached photo that shows on your website. It does not say that it's not open for nonmembers . How much do diligence do I need to do to be able to go to a business and enjoy myself

Had a party here for my Sons Birthday in 2023. What a great time everyone had. There is a private area with plenty of tables and a shade cover to have your party at. I did not take any pictures of the area but it was worth it. It's blocked out with a 1 way in and 1 way out entrance. The kids slide did not work last year but recently I was there 6/1/2024 and the kids slide was opened this place is a great place to enjoy a HOT summer day in this Desert.

    Pickleball

I was thrilled to finally discover about the only Pickleball in the NW at the Durango YMCA. I requested a tour and asked about all things Pickleball. A flyer for Tuesday Pickleball clinics was pointed out to me. I went on to text many friends in notice and arranged my schedule accordingly to attend. I arrived early, waited in a line for the front desk for such a lengthy amount of time I did finally go to the court and get situated. After a lovely conversation with a lady who was very helpful, I went back to sign in. After waiting for some time again, imagine my disappointment being told that the clinic was for members only. This Y has a pool that's open to non-members willing to pay, membership was not mentioned on the tour, and not only is it not stated on the flyer, the flyer does say "Drop Ins Welcome." While membership isn't unreasonable, I had just brought enough money for the clinic. Good business practice would have been to allow for the misunderstanding and clarify future participation. Instead, with a about a half hour of my time invested and cash on the counter, I was left to walk away. We're in a hospitality town, this is a feel good busines, do better.

The executive director emailed me this. If this has been happening for awhile now then why haven't they changed it.

Ask the Community - Durango Hills Community Center YMCA

I never been to the Y so these may be silly questions. Is it open to public? Do they have showers?…

Hi Jeffrey! Not silly questions at all! Our Y is definitely open to the public. We do have showers. The Durango Hills Y hours can be found at this link: https://www.lasvegasymca.org/locations/durango-hills-ymca/. Unfortunately, this location does…

What age do the senior programs start at?

Hi Pamela! Our senior membership starts at 62 years old (but all ages are welcome to enjoy senior programs and activities!) Hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions!

Iwas in earlier and Nora signed me up for Aqufit tomorrow but I don't see it on my reservations in the app hoe can I verify?

Hi Dorothy! We would suggest reaching out to the Durango Hills Y directly at (702) 240-9622. Hope this helps! :)

How deep is the water at the end of the slide?

Hi Kaile, It is 4 feet deep. Thanks for reaching out!

Can you pay to play basketball there for a day?

Hi Bj! You can pay for a day pass to play basketball - the prices are $5 for seniors/youth, $10 for adult and $15 for a family pass. Just come on in to the front desk and they can get you all set up! Thanks so much!

Are you allowed to bring water and snacks to the pool?

Yes, you may bring water and snacks to the pool.

When I walked in a few minutes before class, I was greeted by Philip who already had my liability form ready for me to sign. He then showed me where the restrooms were, where I could leave my stuff and then I was introduced to the instructor Daniel. Daniele was very thorough at explaining all of the movements and the class format. This was a class like I've never taken before so I didn't know what to expect. It was a lower body focused workout this day. The dynamic warm-up followed by a more progressive warm-up, took about 20 minutes of the class. Next, we were given a super set assignment to do strength and cardio focused exercises for four rounds. Then we moved onto our big lift, which were the barbell-squats. Each person got their own rack and barbell set up, which I found pretty impressive. The class size was pretty small compared to what I'm used to, but that gave Daniel the opportunity to give a lot of focus to each member and make sure their form was on point. There was a short ab burnout at the very end of the class. There was absolutely no cardio which for some people makes them very happy When I asked about the schedule, I was told that they alternate between strength and cardio conditioning throughout the week so if you're looking for weight training in a small group fitness atmosphere that does not rush you this would be a place you would enjoy.

What stood out to me was that they weren't stuck behind their desks, they were approachable, engaging, and genuinely happy to help. What impressed me the most was that he willingly stayed over 30 minutes past the end of his shift just to make sure I had everything I needed. That level of customer service is rare and very much appreciated. Towards the end of the tour, Eric and Deryc helped me complete my first Evolt scan and took the time to explain the results so I could actually understand the report. Customer service means a lot to me. No matter what kind of day someone is having, showing up with a positive attitude makes a huge difference, and they absolutely did that. It is surrounded by several businesses you can get errands done quickly The gym its self is very clean. The paper towels and cleaners are stocked. The gym exterior is also clean with ample parking. The variety of the machines is great. They have several platform stations, Hammer Strength and Nautilus machines an average to below average free weight area, outdoor lifting which is great because no one uses it as much as inside, a functional area, and a crossfit type area. They even have a "booty area" and those machines are great! Now to the bad: This location is massively over packed compared to any of the other locations I have been to. The cardio machines have enough to accommodate a large influx, but you will be waiting for a long time for machines. People at this location camp out big time, and it is frequent that people will not stack hundreds of pounds off the machines, making them virtually useless for elderly, small, or not as strong of individuals. They need to crack down on that. The pool, hot tub, and water/sauna area always seems to be shut down which is one of the main attractions for some people. They use myiclubonline, which is notorious for screwing things up. They have nailed me with late fees for insufficient funds with $30k in my bills account. Not this locations fault, but it gets hairy when they come for money. Overall, the staff is friendly and it is a pretty good place to train during off peak hours.
