I had to pee badly and when I came in there was a sign saying the nearest public bathroom was across the street at the Durango welcome center (so I ran there). They have meter parking outside or on Main Street which is subject to general parking rates (free after 6p pretty much every day; I came around 5 and found a meter with leftover time so parked there). And when I came in, it seems to be 2 levels with a few stores, but you can walk from the back to the front of the mall in about 3- 4minutes. I didn't end up buying anything; would say the Main Street is more fun to wander and shop but the mall is an option at least for parking/getting AC on a hot day!

I went in an talked to the gentleman at the front desk, and he started the process- Kai and his co-worker ultimately took the lead on the situation, determined what needed to be done, offered options, and got us confidently back on the road - a bit past 7:00. Everyone was professional and friendly, and there appeared to be a true team atmosphere in the shop. Kai was exceptional tho- going beyond what we expected - a great experience at a stressful time. It seems like they are almost always out of certain items. Many of these are the kind of things that are popular enough that an astute manager would make more of an effort to keep adequate stock on hand. Some things are constantly and repeatedly out, as though the pandemic was still at its peak. I know that many of us became pretty understanding when COVID was raging, but I'm pretty sure that our being tolerant of it back then didn't mean that we would be okay with it forever. They really do need to step up their game.

Finally in the early 2000s I went in search of small coffee roaster. I was living on the east coast and I had a lot to choose from, but nothing matched those early Starbucks years. ​We moved to the four corners region during covid. On our first visit to Durango, Colorado we stopped in a chocolate/coffee shop where I discovered Dessert Sun coffee. Blew my mind and taste buds. I now refuse to start any day without french pressing a large cup of it's Black Velvet blend. It is by far the best coffee I've ever tasted.
