For anyone who has never visited, Dunelm Mill is a large shops which sells all sort of marvellous homeware, bed linen, furniture, kitchenware - basically anything you could possibly need for your home! As well as things you don't need but buy anyway just because they are pretty ;) In general the prices are reasonable even when there is not a sale on. The quality of the items which I have purchased has always been excellent, and on the rare occassion that I have had a problem, the staff have handled it well and issued a refund or replacement. Dunelm Mill often have some very good promotions on their bedding, which incidentally is the thing that I tend to shop there for most. They cater for all tastes - whether your home is contemporary or vintage inspired there's bound to be something that you need (or more often just want in my case!). Recently they have also started to sell online. Their web site is http://www.dunelm-mill.com . They do charge for delivery, though it is fairly reasonable at £3.95 for standard delivery or £5.95 for the next day service. They do have quite a lot of their products online; however, it is best to visit instore as they have more variety, and also the best end-of-line bargains tend not to appear on the website. This Wilkinson's is often busy but it's very easy to move around the store still. You will probably have a short wait at the tills. You can carry your items in a traditional basket, a trolley or a basket with wheels and a long handle! It has good value products and the main downstairs area is usually stocked with seasonal items. The café has excellent customer service, great prices and I've enjoyed the food every time I've visited. Some of the till staff are really friendly, while some can be really miserable! Overall, it's a fairly tidy and well-stocked store.

They also sell household items like bedding, kitchenware, laundry baskets etc. And have a pretty good range of food items like crisps, biscuits, coffee etc. Often these are a little closer to their sell by dates than you may find in the big supermarkets, but nevertheless they are still within the sell by dates, and significantly cheaper! This is a brilliant shop, overall. There is one problem, however - the check outs! There is always a queue, and there's always a problem if something doesn't have a price sticker on it. Any queries have to be referred to a manager, so you're left standing there while they call one over. Other than that, it's a great shop, and worth the inconvenience of the check out queues in order to grab a bargain!

This Ikea is one of the larger ones around. Situated right next next the Metrocentre, it is a great…read morelocation but this also means it can be crazy busy. If you've ever been to the Metrocentre you know that the traffic is hellish on weekends, so I recommend staying away then. Although it's very large it has a weird layout and feels rather cramped and squished together. Especially in the low-ceilinged warehouse which has laughably short shelves. There is a restaurant half way through the shop as per usual selling the favourites like meatballs and lingonberries but it's very dingy with no natural lighting. Some other Ikeas have windows in them but this one does not. I don't get why they added a "mezzanine" for the market hall. Could they have not just built more shop and put it there? It makes the warehouse more cramped and it's more effort using the lifts or travellators to go up and down. It is pretty good though. Every time I've been in it's never been as chaotic and stressful as the Edinburgh store and the stock here tends to be better than in other Ikeas. So although I've badmouthed Ikea Gateshead quite a bit it's still got its good points.
