His office staff was very nice and easy to work with. His hygienist Hannah was phenomenal. Here is my problem, in those 7 years, Dr. Nelson repeatedly found cavities. I had fillings on multiple teeth at least 4 times. I never questioned it. My last visit with Dr. Nelson was right before I moved out of Durham, he said he had found more cavities that needed to be filled. I went to a new dentist when I moved to get it addressed and he said I had no cavities. I went back to my childhood dentist for a third opinion and he also found no cavities. In the seven years since I left Dr. Nelson, I have seen 5 different dentists and no one has found a single cavity. So I have a mouth full of fillings that I suspect was never needed. That makes me sad.

I visited for a regular cleaning. The office was very nice and clean! They seemed to have new technology. I didn't need x-rays since I had them sent over from a previous dentist visit at another office, but they did take photos of my teeth with a tiny digital camera on a wand type instrument. They also had some type of water plaque remover that I've never had anyone else use before. My hygienist was Kim, and she was great. She did an awesome job cleaning my teeth. It's always hard to have a conversation while getting your teeth cleaned haha, but we still had a good conversation throughout my cleaning. The dentist came in for the quick check at the end, and he seemed great too! I was in and out in just under an hour. They also gave me a nice 1st time visit gift with a full size toothpaste, full size mouthwash, tongue scraper, floss, and toothbrush! I've already booked my next cleaning!

Lindsey energy was amazing. I can't remember the doctor's name, but when she came in, she was also amazing as well very professional, friendly outgoing when I say the most amazing A1 customer service experience. I've been seeing Dr. Service and his dental hygienist Betty for the past year and a half. Dr…read more Service is very personable although after my first appointment in which he took new ex-rays and really did a whole check-up I haven't seen him more then ten minutes during the appointments. Betty has a great personality and does a wonderful job with my cleanings. She and Dr. Service do a great job giving recommendations and answering my questions. The cleanings cost $135 per visit and the only thing I'd recommend is to make sure you have your insurance straightened out. I'm still on the parental plan and the insurance checks are mailed to them directly instead of the dentist office (insurance--ugh). You just have to remember to send the check to Dr. Service because they won't come calling until you have a interest fee, just be aware. I like the way the appointments are made, you can either schedule them six months out or receive a phone call a month in advance (which is more convenient to me as I'm not always sure what six-months out looks like). I've never waited long in the office for an appointment but if I did I'm not sure I would notice because I'm too focused on the tank of lovely fish and many magazines for browsing. I'll keep returning to Dr. Service for all my dental cleanings!
