Brian is just about done with my kitchen/dining remodel that involved taking down a weight-bearing wall, new flooring, painting, installing lights, etc. He also cleaned up a serious mold issue in both of my bathrooms that even involved replacing one of the ceilings. I honestly don't know how to thank Brian enough for all of the work he did to my home. I hired Brian to redo my kitchen, but in the meantime, I started uncovering issues that were covered up by the previous homeowner. :( Although this was a difficult time and I was concerned that I was not going to be able to handle the stress and the finances, Brian put my mind at ease. He is literally able to do ANYTHING. He is basically a house god- in my opinion. Plumbing. Electric. Demo. Painting. Construction. He did it all, with reasonable prices. Here is a list of what he has done for me over the past month. I am sure I missed some, but you can get the picture! Kitchen -Pulled out old cabinets and replaced them in kitchen - Wood paneling on wall removed, sanded, repainted -kitchen redesigned -added dishwasher and garbage disposal -moved vent - rewired entire kitchen and found an outlet that was not directly to the box, fixed - crack in ceiling repaired, repainted Bathroom - new shut off valves in kitchen and bathroom - re-did entire plumbing system for shower to update and prevent leaking -re-piped bathroom sink (and took out the pipe in the wall to clean it for me- because of course the whole thing had clogged due to lack of care previously! ) - installed new encasing for the bathroom shower -added insulation to wall -added ceiling fan - new shower nozzles, etc Basement - removed sink that was leaking -drained and filled well system that had been overflowing and attached to sink - fixed piping that was rusting, leaking -shut off water sources that were un-needed - rewired basement and updated outlets that were out of date and electric boxes that were unsafe- made sure they were all directly going to the panel -replaced spicket and piping - removed old bulkhead and re-built and repaired seal- preventing water from entering my basement - rebuilt stairs by bulkhead - demo of my basement down to the studs, removed old insulation In addition to this, Brian and his coworker, Bill did many things as they went along, just to help out. For example, putting up my bathroom cabinet, and fixing my front screen. I would recommend Brian to anyone. Please don't take him the first week in November, though- I need him for another project! :) read more

Brian at Durkin Construction was extremely responsive to our inquiry to rebuild our concrete side entry stairs. Though we had questions and concerns throughout the process, they were addressed promptly and to our satisfaction. He returned to finish the job sooner than expected. We were very pleased with the result! Edited several months after the job: A few things we found after Brian and team left was that they had emptied trash into our recycling bins and though an attempt was made to remove the trash, we are still dealing with the dust and debris that was left. We are also still having trouble with the faucet they used to do the work on the steps, which was broken during the process. They had attempted a fix. But the faucet is still leaky and we had to call a plumber to fix it entirely. Just some extra irritation that leads me to drop my initial 5 stars to 4 stars - just so people know to keep on top of this sort of thing if they hire Durkin. Good guys who have a good finished product, but the process might be messy. read more

We had Durkin Construction do over our master bath. Brian and his crew were on time and did a wonderful job. The few things that went wrong or not to our liking were fixed with no problems. We went over with Brain all the things that we wanted done and he fulfilled all or our wants. We would hire him again for our next project. read more

Hired Durkin Construction to renovate a condo bathroom. Good planning, accompanied us to purchase supplies and tile. Team was prompt and clean, demo accomplished in a day. Overall, things seemed to go smoothly until the very end. Then, the job was up against a holiday and the team apparently rushed to finish. When inspecting the final job, we found hardened grout splashed onto tiles, a broken shower head, a water dial not secured to the wall, a medicine cabinet not installed correctly (and the screwheads destroyed), and a row of nailgun holes visible along the waist-high trim of the wainscotting that wasn't noticeable until you were sitting on the toilet. "Two coats of paint" had a lot of light areas and a two foot long strip along the doorway that wasn't painted at all. While these are all "minor" in the scope of the job, the job was costed (*and paid*) competitively. We contacted them within days of the discovery, followed up multiple times over the next two months to try to get the job corrected. An appointment was made and rescheduled, the team was a no show for the rescheduled appointment. A final phonecall requesting a response by today was not answered. We're done. read more
