Over the last two years he has completed a variety of jobs for me from changing out the overhead kitchen light system, replacing the 35 year old front storm door, painting over the entrance door from a dull weathered brown look to a beautiful red, repairing several drywall cracks and just recently replaced a 40 year old 4-burner cook-top range. His quality of work is outstanding and his costs to perform all jobs are more than reasonable. On top of everything else, Shane is one trustworthy nice guy who is fun to talk to and learn from. .

Shane was referred to me from my realtor. He came out and provided an estimate for the work that needed to be done and I agreed that his estimate was worth the work involved. when it came time for the work to be done, two of the three ceiling fans that I purchased did not work according to Shane, I then contacted the sellers was able to obtain a replacement for one and parts for the second one which would take over 12 weeks to arrive Shane then charged me an additional $150 to come back and address those issues along with finishing the items from the original quote which he claims were included. The screen door that he replaced, the screening is not tight and I'm also unable to lock the screen door as previously could. One of the two fans that didn't work actually had no problem at all. He read the directions incorrectly and the fan worked the entire time but he just wasn't 100% sure. he did however, offer $75 off that fan and since I had flooring put in, I asked him to go ahead and reseat the toilet that the flooring company would not do. That became a whole issue as he was unable to reseat it properly and claimed it was the flooring company or some other issue. The toilet was perfectly seated and fine prior and I was present for the removal, which was quite normal with no additional issues. I quite honestly feel that this man who is extremely nice, just does not have the professional capabilities to provide the services that he claims he is able to do . I I ended up actually fixing quite a few things that he had done incorrectly. My lesson in this, I actually can do quite a few things and I don't need to pay anybody for it. Lesson learned and buyer beware!

He went back to the drawing board and came up with another solution that was more work for him, but much more secure. He did a wonderful job matching the new railing to the banister upstairs and we were blown away with the results! We were so happy with his honesty and dedication to our first job that we hired him once again to replace the flooring in our basement. We were once again very pleased with our results and would gladly hire him again for any of our home improvement needs.

Smith Heating & Air Our central AC stopped working yesterday…read moreand it's the hottest it's been all year. I called twice because they were busy, which I understood and was not upset by, I was never once rude when I called either, I just wanted my AC fixed because it is 95+ degrees in our home. When the guy finally came to our home (his name was Greg), he looked at the unit once, looked at our breaker, and looked at our furnace. All he did was tell my girlfriend who was home at the time that it was filthy and he wasn't going to work on our home because it would take him hours and he would rather work on regular customers, and his attitude and demeanor to my girlfriend was rude, and he told her that he would talk to his boss but we should call someone else. And dont get me wrong, i understand his point and where he was coming from, but his overall attitude and demeanor was not that of someone i would want representing my company. Mind you, the person who lived here before was worse about the upkeep and I don't personally know much about the upkeep of HVAC units which is why I called, what I mistakenly thought to be, professionals and I have called this company before when we had an issue with our furnace and had great service then. This time was not great service and I was hoping to be a regular customer of Smith's but I don't think I'll be calling them for service ever again unless this is remedied. Yep, an edit to update, I am also never recommending them to anyone, I called and spoke to someone in charge and asked what I needed to do on my end to help them do their job so it wouldn't take them hours to fix my ac and the guy just told me to call someone else as they're short on people then hung up on me when I tried to ask another question. One last edit. I finally was able to get someone from SALINA to come fix our AC today and that guy was very professional and polite. He was here when he said he would be and the job that Smith said would take them hours to do only took this guy 30 minutes and my AC is working better than ever.
