However once you're in, the staff are friendly and helpful, and I think offers good value. The shop is quite small, and has all the essentials, but not much beyond that, so if you are looking for the latest Northwave jersey, you will need to try somewhere else. It is more of a functional shop catering to people who are using their bike to get places rather than purely for exercise or sport. They have a plentiful supply of florescent yellow plastic, which is most important for cycling on London's roads.

That is not very clever." was the response. Obviously I fell off my bike on purpose whilse negotiating bollards (funnily enough, I can't do them in cars either) and broke my bike on purpose and I would just like you to butt in to tell me that I am an idiot as well. Nothing is cheap enough for that kind of abuse. But they are DIRT CHEAP for the area!

But it's had about 4 new wheels, 2 new chains, new brakes, new seats... etc. etc. etc. But one thing it had never got replaced was the crankset, and after 5 years of living outdoors with only 10 mins use a day, the sudden change to an hour's use a day in London's winter brought reality home. My old warhorse was dying. Crack noises with every pedal rotation. Ouch. The American-accented man at Cyclecare shot me a look of tut-tut when I brought my bike in, which I didn't appreciate - but promptly he realised I was too hardcore with my old Raleigh to absorb any lecture, and the tune changed to one so rare in London bike shops - helpful willingness to mend a bike on the cheap. The next day he replaced my crankset, pedals and all - with some new gear mixed with some old bits he had lying around. Massive same day repair done for only £65. My worn-and-torn bike is barely worth that price but it rides well now and could well last another decade thanks to his MacGyver repair skills. Make Do And Mend.

The killer for me is that about 1/4 of the wall space in this big store is full of bike gadgets, parts, and accessories... it's a mouth watering and wallet scaring experience to peruse it all and try not to buy everything as a 'must-have'. They have a broad range of bikes and prices to satisfy everyone, large selection of helmets, perhaps a bit light in the 'clothing' department, but with how often and important bike clothing is, not a big black mark for this. The staff are highly knowledgeable, and very friendly and helpful. You can roll in with your bike and they will take a quick look at an issue you're having to see if they can give it a quick fix or advice (although, my bike is from Cycle Surgery, so that may play a part). So far, the staff/mechanics haven't pressured me to do extra work/fixes, and have been honest about what work is necessary. UNPROFESSIONAL! Called up for puncture repair. was told 18 pounds. when it was finished was charged…read more25, with an explanation that "some bikes take longer to take apart". As i left with bike the wheel was rubbing on mudguard. The Guy obviously hadn't checked it after repair. After some more work i left again and it was worse... guy said," Wheel is BUCKLED" Went home and turned bike upside down to find out exactly where rubbing was. The wheel was LOOSE! He Hadn't tightened the wheel nuts which is why it was rubbing in first place! As I use the bike to carry my child from Nursery the thought of the nuts coming off the wheel with him on it (due to the repairers forgetting) is very distressing. i immediately left message explaining what happened..(i also cut my hand having to re align the wheel) So far 2 days later an no reply. i have used this shop before and haven't had a problem. This time it was an unprofessional disaster that could've resulted in a serious accident. Obviously it was an oversight but i am very unhappy that no one has contacted me with an apology.

Breathtaking bikes on display at price tags equally staggering! Lots of smaller cycle accessories are also for sale - at more reasonable prices. There are lots of brochures for cycling events around Europe, and tablets for more information on each bike. As a fan of cycling over cars, it was good to see a bike show room take iver some prime real estate much like a fancy car showroom (think Tesla). Some bikes' prices are definitely within the range of a decent road bike - something to work towards. A must see for any bike enthusiast. Staff are friendly and are willing to help if necessary.

Kudos to these guys: they replaced the inner tube on the rear wheel of my dutch bike, which, with a…read morefull chaincase, hub brake and hub gear to navigate through and then wheel to reset, is arguably one of the time-consuming repairs mechanics can do. So much so in fact, that I've found other mechanics in the UK somewhat reluctant to take it on. Not so CycleSurgery. Okay, so they charged me quite a lot for it (£30), more than I was told (£20) when I handed the bike in. It also took them four attempts over three days to get everything right (for which they drop a star), but to their credit they immediately agreed to fix the problem outstanding in each case (at first the wheel wasn't straight and then the gears weren't working) the next day. I ended up with a complimentary service of my gear shifter, a new gear cable and an offer to adjust the gear cable in 3-4 weeks time when it stretches slightly, all of which was pretty nice of them. I also found them to be friendly and courteous throughout. So sure, while the whole job may have taken them longer to do than expected, they did at least do it all without objection and I'm confident that they'd do the job in one go next time. So much so that I'll definitely be going back to these guys with any other repairs my bike may have. Beyond their workshop, they also have an good range of bikes, including road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes and Pashley city bikes. I've also bought and ordered a couple of parts through this shop too and was happy with the service I received on each occasion. Overall, I'd recommend this place .
