This place is a joke. My mother spent last weekend in the hospital for walking pneumonia and this office called her for a follow up and when my mom went in for the appointment the girl who saw her told her she had no idea what she was in there for and didn't even listen to her lungs. Basically told her she couldn't help her. I've been after my parents to find new PCPs because this office always seems to jerk them around but it's more convenient for them than heading into town. What a shame. Save your energy and health and find someone else. read more

Annual check this year (covid) on-line with Dr. Ben is the way to go. Dutton FCA for years has been our family's care professionals. Extremely satisfied with all phases and recommend them highly. Dr. Ben is exceptional, he's our doctor. Dec 12, 2023 follow-up. Just going thru the worse gastro-virus EVER! Dutton FCA are the best of the best! Update 11/13/18 FYI they now close the Wakefield office from 12-1pm for lunch. I was waiting over one week for a refill request that requires in office pick up. I used the patient portal for the initial refill request, no response. I called twice no one called me back. I called today and got a verbal confirmation at 11:26am my Rx was signed and ready for pickup. I said great, heading over now to pick it up. Got there at 12:10 to find a note on the door closed for lunch till 1pm. R u kidding me? Couldn't the person on the phone had the common courtesy to advise me to plan to arrive after 1pm? I had to sit in my car till 1 and was late getting back to work and to make matters worst they lied the Rx was NOT ready and I had to wait another 20mins for them to print it out and have someone sign it. BTW, their Melrose office is now closed. If I could make this review negative stars I would. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Ben Calef for a few years now. He is a very caring and knowledgeable physician. I recently needed a prescription and he was able to have it filled almost immediately. I have been very satisfied with the service especially with the current limitations with covid. Caitlin (the office secretary/manager) always goes above and beyond to accommodate for my needs. If you're in search for a younger doctor that will be with you long term, I'd highly recommend Dr. Ben. read more

I'm not sure if some of these people are going to the same office people only tend to leave negative reviews. I have had nothing but amazing experiences at Dutton Family Care. My doctor and the staff address all my concerns each visit. Making an appointment or getting through to the office is almost effortless. The older Dr. Calef is great but I suspect his days at this office are numbered. The son, on the other hand, is awful. He is impatient, does not listen and has a smugness about him that is unprofessional. The nurse practitioner is equally as bad if not worse and extremely rude. The overall atmosphere of the team and office is less then desired and lacks a great deal of professionalism. If you are in the market for a new doctor, may I suggest looking past this place. It is a waste of time. You can get a better diagnosis from a 5-year-old. read more

Worst experience when it comes to billing. The center sent me 3 bills months after I paid the amount in full. I've called at least 3 times to challenge the bill. Dianne from billing acknowledged the error every time I called her, but nothing gets done. Given the cost I paid and level of services I got from the office, it's time to switch my family physician. read more

The admin here is absolutely god awful. They NEVER answer the phones, even better they have a line they send prescription requests to that rings and goes to voice mail - believe me they do not intend to answer, ever. Not to mention that the portal can't be trusted to handle your refills either so what are you left to do? The office never sticks to it's open/close schedule, often closing earlier than the original schedule mentioned. This place constantly let's me run out of mental health medication very often because of this which is extremely frustrating and ultimately leaving me with severe symptoms while I cannot contact any one to help me. This place used to be great, and now it's an absolute joke of a professional medical practice. Actively looking for a new place. read more

I have been a patient of Dutton Family Care for over 25 years and I am extremely unhappy with the office's staffing change over the past couple of years. You call the office to set up an appointment and no one ever picks up the phone or returns your call. I addressed this concern with the Dr. at my last visit he assured me the problem had been corrected. Today at 9:00 my husband called to schedule an appointment as he is not feeling well. He left a message and it's now 4:00 and no return call. Pulling my records and finding a new Dr. what good is a Dr. if you can't see him when your sick! read more

How is it possible that this practice over the course of the last two years has become a complete and total disaster. A majority of the people answering the phones (when they are working or answer them are rude and unprofessional. They blame lack of response on the new phone systems or on the service but seem to be in no rush to fix the problem. You could see each doctor for the same ailment and you will get three different diagnosis's and courses of treatment. I have been going to this practice for over 10 years and I am so glad that I've found a new doctor. read more

Switched over to Dutton Family Care a few years ago when my longtime primary care provider, Dr. Berg, retired. I had tried a few others beforehand and couldn't find one i that was comfortable with/who's staff was on top of things. Since i've been with Dr. Calef and Dutton Family care i've been very satisfied. The staff is friendly and its never a problem getting prescription refills called in which makes things much more seamless for me. Another bonus is that his office is on a residential side street and there's always plenty of parking right there when i go. read more

The staff are nice, but the hours are horrible. This is the 5th time I have tried to get in touch with my doctors office and they're closed before the actual closing time that they have posted to the public. There have been times I have left my job early to pick up scripts and again there office is closed before their scheduled time. Its horrible service and lack of communication. read more

From making the appointment to checking out, every staff member was thorough, professional and extremely pleasant. I'm an RN and was very impressed! By far the most comprehensive annual physical I've had. Blood was drawn in office with just one painless stick, offered flu shot, EKG and as a plus there was a well-behaved office dog. Dr was friendly and did not rush through appointment. Plenty of parking, evening hours and online appointment and access to records. Very, very happy to have a new family doctor. read more

I miss Dr. Kidd who was so thorough. My annual physical exam lasted less than 15 minutes and I felt that I was rushed. I recently called to set up a new appointment and was told that I could not set the appointment because my insurance was not valid. Before I could let them know I now had Medicare,the receptionist hung up. I am currentply looking for a new family doctor. Very disappointing. read more

Zero Star. Last year we went to Dr. Calef for first time for general medical check-up. The staff did not have our results of blood-work on the day of our appointment with Dr. Calef. General talk with the doctor was done, I explained to doctor that I was trying to get pregnant, we talked about it, everything was fine, doctor and staff informed us that they would call us if there is anything of concern with our report. We waited for 4 weeks for any call, they did not call us, so we gathered everything was just fine. Then we called to get copy of our results, and as per results my TSH level was higher 4.8 (normal range is 0.4-4.2), so we called back to make sure if there was anything of concern. Staff told us that nothing was of concern, if there was, doctor would have called you. But because I insisted, doctor talked to me, and told me that everything was fine. I was pregnant, and we had miscarriage, and later we found out that my TSH was way too higher for pregnancy, and that could be the major cause of miscarriage. It could have been prevented, only if doctor had been more patient and detailed, staff had been in less hurry .. I cannot sue them, but I would never recommend this doctor or clinic to anyone. read more

This review has nothing to do with the actual doctors. It has to do with the admin staff. Every time I call this office, the line is busy. I called on Friday, during normal office hours, and no one picks up. It doesn't even send me to a voicemail box. I left a message (I think??) to pick up a prescription on Monday and to call me back as soon as possible. No response. It's now Tuesday, I've been calling all day and the line is busy. I finally got through at 4pm and the answering machine says they are at lunch until 1pm. Again, no prompt to leave a voicemail. So I stay on the line where I'm told a physician would be on the line shortly. No one answers. I called back at 5pm and now the machine says the office is closed, when he office is supposed to be open until 6. How hard is it to either answer the phone, create a voicemail box, create an email address, or simply be at the office during office hours. They make this the most frustrating process I have ever experienced. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Calef and his staff for at least 15 years now, since I moved to the area. I love them, the staff is kind, considerate, open with late hours on Thursdays which always helps. They've treated me for so many things throughout the years. And I can't say enough good things about them. If you are looking for a PCP, look no further. Doctor Kidd is worth waiting for. I would never have taken the time to write a review, but felt that the reviews I read are not totally accurate. I know that the doctor will take as much time with me as I need, I don't mind waiting my turn. The staff are professional and very friendly. Yes, they are closed on weekends. That's what walk-in clinics are for. read more
