I have deliberated and bargained many many times, but they often are a little pricey. The things that I have bought over the years are mainly sticks, heads and DVD/VHS. On those items (incidentally the kind of products that seem to have their retail prices fixed by the manufacturer) which are not cheaper elsewhere, I have spent thousands across 15 years with Footes. Customer service can be patchy, but it does depend on the staff who are working there at the time. Way back, the staff were very knowledgeable and really bought me as a young customer. The range carried is not the widest in the world and lacks the custom drum presence of other drum retailers. The small display area is obviously the cause of this, but in Central London, what can one really expect? All in all, I really like Footes and no doubt will be a customer for many years to come.

They really helped me out and provided me with a lot of valued info when I were just a wee tub-thumper. When the larger store opened, the range that they carried really increased, however the customer service did not match. However, I am glad to say, in the last 8-9 years I have only had good service at decent prices from them and the shop seems to get bigger every time I visit! I shant go into details of brands carried, but all major and most custom drum and cymbal manufacturers are represented at WDC. They have helped me out on some really perverse special orders in the past...anyone else order 15" Ludwig Silver Dot heads? Vater Shedder drumsticks? Just me? Hmmm thought so...

I wasn't able to try the electric ones obviously because they require an amp, which was unfortunate but no fault of the store. The salesman and I got into an informative discussion (I had already hung out here for quite a while) about computer software. I've always used Magix but I'm told there are much better programmes out there for me, depending on what I was after, even on a PC. I always thought I was quite limited because I don't have a Mac. See what I know. This store really does have everything including nice staff to tell you about using Cakewalk software. Come try the guitars, you'll have a good time.

However AFTER purchasing i found out that this was not the case. And rather than help me and sort it out, their attitude is one of an 'oh well' attitude. They then said it would take 3 days to arrive. It has now been a week of not receiving promised phone calls and not being any clearer as to when the equipment will arrive. This has set me back MAJORLY and after purchasing in the past from them, i can honestly say i will NEVER be buying from there again. Also, in the Barnet shop, if your not the typical guitar/punk lookin person they dont really want to 'help' you, they just go through the motions. I had been in touch by email with Andy, the store owner over a period of weeks discussing the guitars I was interested in. He immediately made me feel comfortable by recommending guitars that were lower than the budget I told him I had. I ultimately settled on a Contreras C-4 - which the store prices better than any online search I undertook (and I did my research for at least a month). Check stafford guitars for benchmarks in the UK. I live in Brazil, and landed in London and went straight to the store. I told Andy I wanted to pick up the C4 but unfortunately it had been sold. But he sold me the Contreras C1 Spruce top for a price I won't make public here - needless to say it was a great deal. And I'm sure Andy made an effort because we had been in touch over several weeks and had built a rapport. All in all, it was an amazing experience dealing with the Spanish Guitar Centre and it is heartening to see small owner-run shops still exists and able to reconcile making money and getting great deals for customers.
