Kevin Dye.......What a GREAT guy! Kevin was referred to us by our son. We called him and requested a quote for painting the exterior of our home. Right away we could tell Kevin was knowledgeable and professional. His price was fair for the work we needed done. We had to wait a few weeks as Summer is his busiest season for exteriors (he also paints interiors during the off seasons). We were willing to wait as we really appreciated his ethical attitude. Kevin called us the week before our project was to begin. He arrived on the exact date and time he had stated. He explained each phase of the project, which included power washing, exterior painting of the body and trim of our home, and staining of our entryway and deck ceilings. Every exchange with Kevin was professional in every way. He had a crew of 3-4 and together they painted our home and fence. They quality paint he used was evident in the coverage. The crew and Kevin did outstanding work and cleaned up after each day. Our project took approximately 6 days. He parked a small trailer with his equipment on our property until he completed the job. First of all let me say- I hate to paint! Prep work is the worst chore in the world to me. Kevin prepped and stained our home in San Andreas and I'm glad he did. There are many windows to work around, lots of ladder work and much brush detail work to do. He did an excellent job on all accounts. We were very grateful for his professionalism and work ethics. Thank you Kevin for your reply. I am updating Kevin Dye's job to 2 star because he did take the time to respond although the tone is a little puzzling. I called you in July after noticing the peeling paint but I could not connect to your number. Upon researching, I realized you had moved! Your Yelp site is now in Idaho and gave no hint as to how to find local people here in Arnold to follow up. Not sure how I was supposed to find them as all I know is "Kevin Dye." Perhaps an email outreach to recent customers letting them you have moved and who to now call? If follow up phone calls were made to me, no messages were left. I would have jumped on the chance to get this fixed. Also I cannot find any email outreach to me. So making this my fault for poor communication is quite puzzling. Regarding the deck: yes, the top rail is pressure-treated, but the others are not and all are flaking off in waves as evident in the pix. We are literally scraping off to bare paint. We are scraping, priming and repainting the affected areas ourselves. This is a real drag considering we thought we had a new paint job. Regarding the extra work you did: you broke the light and offered to replace it, to which I agreed to ($6 part.) The ant infestation was a message to me to let me know there were carpenter ants in the house and to call a pest service. Thank you for cleaning the windows of oil stains. We did point this out at the beginning of the quote so this should not have been a surprise. Regarding negative Yelp reviews, people are welcome to review them. There are 5 star, 3 star and 1 star reviews as that is really the point of Yelp. I only quote facts. Kevin, I am saddened that you are surprised that a client would be unhappy about peeling paint less than one year after a paint job. We also did our part, paying promptly, and with an expectation of a certain level of quality. We consider ourselves exceptional clients who negotiate everything up front and pay promptly. read more

My wife and I have a vacation getaway cabin in Calaveras County and when we bought it, the exterior was an ugly blue color. I recently bought a house in Arnold, and the bedrooms were covered in cheap, flimsy '70s wood paneling. I found Kevin Dye after doing a lot of digging researching local options. And I was SO glad I called him! Kevin was extremely professional, timely, and meticulously detail-oriented, from start to finish. He came by right away and assessed the job, walking me through the process and breaking down my options, with itemized cost breakdowns (he even dropped paint chips by to help me out), and once we got rolling, he worked out a schedule with me and stuck to it. We had Kevin Dye re-stain our cabin in Arnold which was a huge, complex job due to having 4 decks, lots of railing, stairs all around as well as highly elevated areas. He talked us through the process, kept us informed through email and video, and provided a fair price given the size of the job. The decks look AMAZING! They are absolutely beautiful with no visible flaws. They look like new hardwood floors that show the beauty of the wood grain with a rich strong coat yet not too dark and not too light. My wife and I bought a cabin in Camp Connell, CA (Arnold) in December of 2015. After which, we immediately set about working on multiple cosmetic updates, including painting the entire interior and exterior of the cabin. We contacted Kevin of Dye Painting at the recommendation of our Realtor; this recommendation was reinforced multiple times since then, as everyone we met agreed that Dye Painting was simply the BEST! Kevin and his team completed the interior in February of this year and needless to say, the quality of the work performed was outstanding! We chose what turned out to be a very challenging interior color, but Kevin and his team did what it took to ensure complete coverage of all surfaces - we had Kevin paint every room, including cabinets, closets and baseboards. Kevin and his team prepped the interior by filling all of the cracks and holes in the drywall, resurfacing what had been a "do it yourself" laundry room ceiling repair, and priming all of the surfaces. The final paint application was very high quality, as he gave us what he likes to refer to as a "dipped look"! In June of this year, Kevin painted the exterior of our home and it looks AMAZING! The amount of prep work that Kevin and his team completed before painting was pretty awesome - they filled woodpecker holes, caulked all of the seams, sealed all of the beams, pressure washed and the list truly goes on and on...The final product looks fantastic - dark grey body with black/charcoal beams and natural stained deck and overhang - we cannot say enough good things about Kevin, his team, the quality of his work, the accuracy of his bid and time estimates - they were all spot on! In addition to his upfront time and cost estimates, Kevin also provided consistent and ongoing updates throughout the entire process, including sending videos, photos and frequent text messages and emails.
