My Dyson vacuum cleaner sucks. It sucks a lot. It sucks up dirt and crumbs and entirely too much pet hair. Which is to say that it doesn't really suck at all. It's great! We've been a Dyson family for several years now, recently upgrading to a Dyson Ball "Animal 2" which is flipping amazing. Easy to push and pull on the carpet and the hard surfaces. Disconnect the nozzle and use it with the extended wand to get the higher spots. And when it's all done, take the canister outside to our wheelie bin and dump out a LOT of pet fur. Holey smokes! Considering how much this thing sucks, it's amazing that it sucks so much. I'm impressed. And enjoying the word "sucks" entirely too much. I love my Dyson vacuum but the newer models pale in comparison to the older ones. I had one Dyson vacuum that lasted over ten years. It required a few new parts (plastic breaks over time) - the motor finally went. I was amazed it lasted as long as it did. It even outlasted 2 newer Dyson vacuums! Finally it had reached the end of its lifespan and I reluctantly let it go. Next began the search for a replacement. I was planning on replacing it with another Dyson but the price was too high. I ended up buying a Shark vacuum instead. I don't have any pets or major dirt issues to justify buying a pricey vacuum. So far the Shark works just as well. I still have one Dyson just in case. If cost weren't an issue I would go with the Dyson, simply because it is easier to use. read more

Dyson is so expensive! My daughter agonized over the purchase for years. Every time we went to COSTCO she looked at the various models. Recently she finally found the one she wanted on QVC on sale. She wanted the stand it has and the tools. I'm really impressed by the amount of debris it sucks up from the carpet. Naturally I can borrow it when I would like. I'm going to use it on my mattress since I don't have carpets. It's a easy Five Star review. It was sad to get rid of my Sears Kenmore canister vacuum after well over twenty years or more. It was still going strong. It's nice not to drag the canister around anymore though! read more

I'm conflicted! Is this a 1 or 5 Star review? Maybe both. Interested, me too, read on. A few years ago I did a lot of remodeling and upgrading. So it was a good time for a new vacuum cleaner. I never have been comfortable with online shopping but do a little now and then. I am a hands-on guy that likes to look, taste,smell, twist...etc before buying plus I can take it back down the street. Well, on the Dyson I broke my usual behavior and bought online. I am registering this review under their engineering and design facility but, it could be attributed to everyone up and down the line. When I received my "Powerful" vac, I immediately put it together for a test run. At first, I was running it around the bare floor and it was picking up random dog hair like you would not believe! Excellent I thought. Anyone with a dog that sheds knows it is always a problem. With this baby, Problem solved! I moved on to the area rug. Oops! this is where things got interesting. It literally sucked the carpet so hard that I couldn't move it. The famous ball design was stranded. I turned it off and back on. Again, the suction was so strong I couldn't push it around to vacuum. Not good. So I took it upstairs to check on the wall-to-wall carpet. Unfortunately, same thing. In addition, while it was on I pulled up on the handle and it literally had the carpet sucked so hard I could pull the carpet away from the floor! This is where it gets really good! I called Dysons customer service and after describing my model and issue the customer care lady stated" this is how it's supposed to work, it's our strongest vacuum"! What? Yada yada yada....on and on The long and short of it is, It's not easy to use for regular vacuuming. So if you have only wall-to-wall carpet get something else. However, I kept it as a second vacuum and was glad I did. What I like about my super sucker Dyson: It does a fabulous job on bare floors. I no longer sweep with a broom. I just buss around with it and it gets up everything before moping. Love that. With the hose attachment, it sucks out anything you need to be cleaned like dirty window seals, fabric upholstery, etc. Perfect for Vacumming cars. I occasionally do my own because the car wash never gets it right. This thing cleans the car carpet big time. So, there it is and now you understand my dilemma. I'm giving them one star because come on. No one intentionally buys a vacuum that sucks the carpet off the floor. The customer service rep was hedging when she wouldn't just admit I had a valid issue. One star. But, I'm giving it 5 stars for the other uses I've described and love it as a 2nd vacuum. I want my son to live forever, so I'd never say "Dyson", ever. The good news is that they make amazing cleaners that can do a lot of stuff and lift up a lot that others can't. They're a very well-known brand and possibly the best brand on the market. On the other hand they're very expensive which is why I can't give them five stars. read more

I am an odd girl. I have an obsession with vacuuming, a healthy obsession. I actually love vacuuming as a form of relaxation. I am not afraid to express my adoration for the chore. I like mopping as well. The Dyson is the Rolls Royce of vacuums. If you have one of these and can brag to your lady friends that you have one...you will be admired. Here is the issue, they're damn pricey. I've been asking one for years and honestly, it is way too $$ for me to get a full one. My parents on the other hand bought me a mini hand held one from Future Shop (reviewed that store) that works just as well if you're willing to go down on your hands and knees. The vacuum is heavy. It is a cordless, however, it takes 3 hours to charge for 15 minutes of use time. In theory it seems short, however, I've actually done all 3 floors of my house on a hand held in under that time plus two levels of stairs. My specific model has a clear chamber. I am obsessed with trying to fill the thing with dust and I am always amused weekly as to how much dust accumulates in one of these machines. I love the hand held dryers in the washroom. read more

Hard not to when your sales revenue are $6 billion pounds annually! Love their hand dryers, using high air speeds versus warm air conventional hand dryers that increase electrical/heating costs---businesses will love this, in particular restaurants, with their lower profit margins. Dries hands in 12 seconds versus 43 seconds, give or take a few, depending if you're in a rush or not haha. In Canada, still waiting to see which restaurant will get the first Tap model, and you're going to love this, even as a consumer: a one-stop shop to wash and dry your hands in one spot, right at the sink. Without dripping water on the floor after washing, to get to a hand dryer, depending on the setup in the restroom/washroom (what we say in Canada lol). But hats off to the inventor; he initially designed for a better wheelburrow, then to vacuum cleaners and now the handryers. Impressive, not even an inventor initially, just wanted to make better products that big boys ie Hoover, Dirt Devil, etc. couldn't think of earlier. read more

This is a review of the Dyson product rather than the actual factory in Malmesbury - although I know they are a big employer in the area. Dyson Vacuum cleaners have been used in our house for at least ten years and we still use them. The first one that we had cleaned our carpet like a dream (or nightmare rather) and soon filled the container which just goes to show how inefficient our old bagged cleaner was. The parts are easy to get hold of when they break (they seem to be made of cheap plastic parts) and they are easy to take apart and put back together. However, remember to take it apart regularly and clean out all the filters and channels plus the brush to keep it working well. read more
