I've been coming to Dr. Shana to help with my grieving of my Father. She's helped me in the past…read morealso when I was coming to see her in a transition phase in my life. Although she is not covered through my insurance she is sweet enough to work out a plan that works for me. I'm fortunate to live a few miles from her office and would rather see her than someone else who is covered under my work insurance. If you need any form of therapy I do recommend coming to see Dr. Shana Clark!

I don't want to get political or bring up any controversy, but the series of recent and…read moreunbelievably tragic events has brought up many subjects - including mental health. ...So here's my review for Shana Clark. We all have our stresses: Work, relationships, family, friends ... and you can't always turn to close friends and/or family because A) They're your stress triggers or B) They can't give you unbiased feedback. Especially my family. Opinions, opinions, opinions. Sometimes, you need a professional. Shana Clark is a licensed professional counselor, and she specializes in so many issues: relationships/couples counseling, anger management, career counseling, problem solving, drug/alcohol abuse, grief/loss, anxiety ... I like that she has a spiritual background, and she is one of the few in people in Houston who uses the Thought Field Therapy/Emotional Freedom Therapy (TFT/EFT) and Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) aka "tapping" to clear of any negative emotions, energy and thoughts. She's also very honest and doesn't "shrink" you ... she tells it like it is based on professional experience. I dig it.

I take away some nugget of wisdom every hour I am with him. I view my time with Troy as valuable for my emotional and mental health as much as my gym membership is for my physical health or my time in church for my spiritual health and I will pay for his services even if I am not going through some crisis or hardship at this point. Last thing I will say that has been important to me after using several therapists is people tend to search for a specialist or a certification that matches their prompt issue and that may work until your problem seemed fixed then you start questioning the value you get in subsequent visits. That has caused me to go in and out of different offices for about 10 years and I felt like I was rehashing the same issue over and over but in a different department. Troy has been my one stop shop and can really empathize with me in a variety of areas due to his own life experiences and journey. He has a lot of rapport from my standpoint as well as education which means a lot to me. I really cant say enough good things about him. Thank you for helping me navigate this journey of life.

I have to agree with Heather from Katy, 3 years ago, I was in the "Job Search Market" I was also…read morecontacted by a couple of Employment Counselors with a similar approach. They really criticized my resume and told me that it was no wonder I was still unemployed. They told me my search approach was all wrong and that I would never land my dream job unless I signed up with them for their assistance. They were connected with the right employers and would refer my resume over to them once I came on-board as their client. Better yet, once I retained them as a my consultant! So the interview turned into more or less a qualifying session. They were asking all kinds of questions about money. How much I had, How long could I wait to search for the "right job" 2 months 4 months? 6 months? I am in sales, and I knew I was being qualified. And he lied about the companies he had so called connections with. He knew nothing of the companies nor industry I was applying for. Furthermore I had my resume reviewed by a HR professional. After I paid to have it redone! So I was very confident that he was saying anything he could to instill fear. Once they think you have the money to pay for their services they proceed to so call help you! I definitely had the money but I smelled a rat. And he knew it too... So even though I was more than qualified and experienced, and I had the references and previous performance and W2s to back that up. He still proceeded to tell me how inefficient my job search was as well as how my "past performance has no bearing on my future performance" Are you kidding me? This was from a seasoned consultant with over 25 years experience! If that was the case why in the heck do employers ask for resumes? I got out of there mad, and really discouraged, but with my pocket book in tact. A good friend of mine also reminded me that good head hunters will be very honest and forward, they receive compensation from their clients, the employers. The are also helpful in your own job search. Assisting you with any areas that may need a little polishing without the discouraging attitude. Stay away from MAP career Counseling. I also found this. I am not the only one who experienced this. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2011/11/six_years_ago_we_wrote.php?page=2

I showed up and was told that the person who was supposed to conduct the interview was not in the office. Whatever the scenario, you should never pay money for services such as this one. If the employment agency is any good, employers will pay them to bring the right clients. If they want money up front, it is a red flag that you should run! P.S.- Unfortunately, Yelp does not allow you to give a company no stars. I had to give it one star in order to submit the review.
