I wouldn't really call it a supermarket; it's more of a glorified convenience store. They have pretty much all the basics, but they wouldn't have as much stock as a major supermarket. Like if you were looking for a particular brand of an intensive conditioner, chances are you won't be getting it here. Also, it's always bloody freezing! It's like half the store is full of freezers. SO maybe bring a coat for your shopping trip!

Avoiding the salads, I made my way to the hot deli counter and paused for thought. A very pleasant lady asked me what I would like and, in accordance with my wishes, made me a terrifically unhealthy sandwich. I picked up a cup of coffee and took perch on the complementary seats outside where I could still see the marathon progressing. Enjoying my juicy lunch I eased my conscience saying "Sure maybe I'll run it next year." Good shop though, and a welcome addition to The Oval building.

Instead, on a sunny day it doubles up as a cosy deli and coffee shop where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and coffee. But this store is mostly for food that isn't stocked that well. Most of the areas like the coffee shop, sushi stand and lunch area is usually closed. Not sure if it's ever open? Perhaps at noon during the week only? Not sure But they have "Fresh brand" sandwiches, drink options, ready to eat meals, fresh butcher meals, fresh pasta, and other food items, small area for some of the fresh fruits and vegetables, and unique food items like truffles and off brand of Pop tarts as well.. which makes it a nicer store to shop at. They also have a fresh salad bar (@ about €22 / kilo), but they sadly cover everything up at night and uncover the same items the next day. Not sure what the temp and hygienic situation of it is. So I like this store and I come here often, I just wish that they were stocked properly, internal shops were open and had more home items.

However, during my third visit, when I returned with a group of friends, one employee completely changed the atmosphere. The employee -- a man wearing glasses of Asian descent -- approached one of my friends in an unnecessarily aggressive and confrontational manner. The interaction felt extremely unprofessional and, honestly, targeted for no clear reason. He began criticizing the way my friend was wearing his clothing, despite the fact that we were simply shopping and minding our business. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that customers inside the store were actually approaching my friend asking to take photos with him, since he is a musician currently in town performing for a two-day segment part of the tour in Dublin. We only visited this store because it happened to be the closest shop to where we were staying. Security was eventually called, even though there was no disturbance whatsoever. To his credit, the security employee handled the situation professionally and even acknowledged that there was no real issue after seeing customers voluntarily taking photos with my friend. I want to be clear that every other employee we interacted with was polite, respectful, and helpful. The store itself is actually very nice. Unfortunately, this one employee completely ruined the experience and made us feel singled out and unwelcome for absolutely no reason.

I…read morehad gone in with the idea of ordering a latte but I saw their adds for Autumn themed hot chocolates and the raspberry and honey one grabbed my eye. I really enjoyed it! So it's a hot chocolate with a "shot" of honey served in a large white mug with cold cream on top and dried raspberry's sprinkled on top with a few flakes of chocolate. It really looks the part. So its an odd experience taking the first sip as your lips are dipped in the very cold whipped cream and the dried raspberry's sit under your noise so it is all you can smell and when you drink you get the heat and taste of the honey sweetened hot chocolate. So it's a real miss match of temperatures and tastes which is odd at first but it works. After drinking about a quarter I decided to mix all the cream and berry's into drink which again was nice as the raspberry's swell up in the chocolate and float to the top. Anyway it may not be everyone's cup of tea or cup of hot chocolate as the case might be but I liked it and would recommend you at least try it once. Yummy!!

It began with rumours all over Dublin, everyone knew someone who'd seen at least one... but where? That fateful summer when Whispa came home, Bon Espresso was one of the first to carry them. Such was the excitement that this tiny little sandwich and sundries shop got a shout-out on morning radio and was subsequently mobbed by commuters and emptied of their stock. It's great that little places like this can be the birthplace of a chocolate-coated revolution (or, revelation). On a daily basis the shop is packed with lunch time runners buying freshly made sandwiches, paninis and boxes of wedges. There's barely room for the queue of hungry patrons, let alone the card rack, the magazine stand and that massive bank of chocolate for sale. Prices are great for Ballsbridge -you can get a sambo, soft drink and bag of chips and still have enough of your tenner left for a Hot Press or Tattler. Or, you could blow it all on a stack of delicious delicious Whispa. Your call.

It kind of makes you feel like your actually supporting something or someone! kinda like the ol "buy irish" thing I suppose! Anywho my one negative for this shop and i suppose its not there fault really but this is one of those newsagants that always has some kid hanging around outside asking "here! missus! will ye buy us a pack a smokes in da shop will ya?" why do these kids pick on me? Do i just look gullible or something? I dont agree with under age smoking why will i support there habit! i often feel like going in to the shop to warn the worker in there but then i always fear that i will have some little kid with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth ready to hassle me when i come back out if i do.... damn kids ruining my newspoint experience!

You know, the bread in here is nice but i have gotten better elsewhere, although i do really like their pastries. what i would normally come to this shop for is the things that cant really be gotten anywhere else. like they do that lucky charms cereal from America and they usually have a better range of ritter sport chocolate. also they have a good wine section. All the stuff that's bad for you that you cant get in Ireland(maybe for a health reason!) you can get here. yum yum yum!
