As both a mom and a huge reader, I've visited a LOT of libraries across the Treasure Valley, and the Eagle Public Library is hands-down my favorite. This library is clearly well-funded, thoughtfully staffed, and built around way more than just books. It's incredibly clean, welcoming, and genuinely designed for families and community use. The children's area alone is amazing. They have: experiential toddler toys Vox books that actually read aloud to kids multilingual books interactive learning stations rotating displays and activities But honestly, the thing that makes this library stand out is their "Library of Things." Over the years we've borrowed: a ukulele stamps/craft supplies a sewing machine a piano keyboard memory games kids' board games toys Matchbox car sets Barbie dolls teacher book kits with hand puppets And somehow everything is ALWAYS in amazing condition. Even the puzzles somehow still have all the pieces, which honestly feels like wizardry at this point. The seating options are great, the staff is consistently helpful, and the study rooms are actually clean and pleasant to use (don't even get me started on some of the Boise library study rooms). I wouldn't necessarily call this a "quiet library," but I mean that in the best possible way. It feels alive and family-friendly without being chaotic. Their programming is also fantastic. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram because some of their paint nights, family events, and 4pm kids classes are genuinely adorable and surprisingly well done. This place has become such a core part of our family life. Just an all-around exceptional library and one of my favorite places in Eagle. read more

I wanted to check out a local library, and this did not disappoint! The specific children's area was so cute and welcoming. There were so many toys for both my 2 yo and 8 yo. All the books were on display nicely. I appreciated the separate kids area as I couldn't guarantee my 2 year old could keep quit. read more

I really do love the Eagle library and even more so now that they added a large family room to the left of the building when you walk in. The space is decorated so nicely. My kids love playing there. They have so many new toys there now that we could go there now rather than say the children's museum in Meridian. We visit the library close to once a week. I love that I can swing by and they will put my books out front for easy pickup for when I can't quickly go inside. The staff has always been super friendly and they are great with my kids. They offer lots of classes and story times for littles. Overall the facility is clean. I've never had a bad experience. read more

Attended this library today and I am blown away with how clean and kid friendly it was! You can check out everything from cake pans, to puzzles, to lawn games and board games.... A worker here named Julia was giving my family terrible looks and it seemed like she was mad we were even here. Another parent came up to me and said the same thing happens to her family too. She has made my family feel not welcome by making it clear she is judging my 8 year old autistic child with me. This needs attention. read more

Great public library! Lots of resources, nice layout, friendly staff, plenty of computers, and a lovely patio. Taking off one star because patrons can get quite loud speaking on their phones inside the library. I've wished on many occasions that library staff would circulate and encourage those being loud to step outside or book a private room for their meetings or phone calls. The same goes for the kid's video game area -- they are loud when playing, and it's very distracting when reading or trying to study. It's great that they offer video games, but this should be in a separate room so that others can function in a semi-quiet environment. read more

Tonight, kids at Eagle Middle School celebrated their artwork!! Teachers greeted parents and students while we walked around to view student artwork. Students felt like celebrities -- as their work was displayed with their names and grades. They even had sparkling cider and cookies as treats!! Fun!! Everything you'd hope for in a public library. Book Selection: Awesome for kids to grandparents. Service: Fast, responsive, available, friendly. Parking: Ample spaces all around. Technology: 3D printing is available. Lots of public access computers. Open WiFi: Yes. Places to sit/ stand: They have lots of choices where you can get work done either sitting at a desk or standing at a desk. Most, if not all, of their tables have electric outlets to charge phones, laptops, and other electronic devices. I loved that. I found this a great place to get work done for school and my career development. This library is located in such a nice building! There is plenty of room for books, plus a nice seated reading area (located by large sunny windows), and a spacious meeting room where they hold scheduled activities. Just past the lobby and into the library, there's a small cove with books and magazines for sale. They're a great deal, and I recommend checking there every time you visit! Eagle Public Library participates in the Lynx! Consortium, so if the library doesn't stock the book you want, you can have it brought in from Boise, Meridian, Hailey, Twin Falls, etc. The library's book catalog is online, and I often use it to search for and reserve books. Then when I come in, I just go to the counter and tell them I have books reserved. No searching the shelves or wondering if what I want has already been checked out by someone else. And returning couldn't be easier as there's a drive-up drop-box outside. My only real complaint about it is how far the entrance is from the parking. It's not very accessible, especially for those who have mobility issues (disability, elderly). read more

One star off for the harried staff that often seem to have better things to do than answer any questions I might have. That said, the grounds are gorgeous. There's a cute statue of a couple of children reading a book on a bench right at the front entrance. My daughter likes to sit on it and pretend she's one of them (because...well, she's 5). The building itself is TINY compared to the ones back home in San Diego. But the resources are pretty damn good for a library of its size. Along with your regular run of the mill romance novels, horrors, and non-fiction stuff you can check out fishing poles and camping gear, character baking pans, homeschooling kits. There's a 3-D printer you can use as well as a cricut for those who want to be artsy and not spend a billion dollars. There are DVD's for kids and adults, puzzles...the list goes on and on. They have a seed exchange program in the spring. They have a TON of programs there. During spring break they had games and activities constantly - a life sized game of candy land, a chocolate Olympics, a picture frame craft made of twigs. The atmosphere here isn't the quiet library you're used to. The children are not expected to keep low voices and are not reprimanded for being kids. We read a LOT. Mostly, I love this place. I hope my kid grows up with fond memories of the library like I have. read more

I will never utilize Eagle library again. It has turned into a full blown daycare. Every time I go there to study I cannot think or ask anyone a question over music blasting, kids shaking instruments and the "teacher" singing at the top of her voice. Tons of stuff to do if you have little ones. There some sort of class at 10:30 everyday if your children are under 5 years old. Lots of toys, movies, games, puzzles, baking equipment to check out. We are here several times a week. read more

I called eagle library on Nov. 20 and was hung up on for no apparent reason, I had only asked to speak with an employee.

This library is phenomenal! We visit the library at least once a week and have done so for the past 6 years. The new library director, Steve has really extended the amazing services provided by the Eagle Library. Steve is very involved, interacting with the patrons and children. Vicki, Cathy and Joan are also amazing. Each address us by name and go out of their way to interact with my children. Super caring people! Other staff members are wonderful as well! We love the programs the library offers, from gardening, to knitting and more. The end of summer party for the children who completed the summer reading program was awesome. I thought it was especially thoughtful that all events, treats and even a book were provided/given completely free. What a wonderful way to bring families together in a positive way. What is going on at our cute little library? Once a quaint, pleasant place to browse shelves and interact with personable librarians is now slowly becoming cold and robotic. Walked in today and discovered that the entire front service desk had been removed and in it's place was a lowly library table with a few check-out laptops. When I asked where the beautiful counter went, I was told that it is making way for a "automated check-in/check-out system." Patrons of this library are already doing a lot of "self-service" labor which makes one wonder what will be next. Will we have "Redbox-like" vending machines in the lobby? or have to re-shelve our own books? I rarely see a librarian anymore and when they do appear they are often surly and act as if you are bothering them. Wonder if the eventual plan is to close this location. As it stands, it is no longer the library I remember from my first visit. What a shame and who is making these customer-unfriendly decisions? read more

Nice building, but it's hard to get help with questions or finding things. This library seems understaffed and employees seem stressed and distracted. The main librarian seems unfriendly and brusque- he comes across as very condescending. Also the books I want are never checked in, I always have to wait! I have had better experiences at the library in Garden City and Meridian. read more

this library is great. classes almost everyday for children under 5. groups for knitters. you can checkout wifi sticks, use the 3D printer or the cricut. i love that the kids don't have to be whispering all the time (no grandparent or parents wants to SHHHHHHH 900 times while their child is simply being...a child). i love that we can self checkout, much more time efficient. we love our library. read more

I'm a senior and rely on the library for my reading entertainment. This is a lovely building, but the front desk seemed distracted, even reluctant to commit to whether they could help explain downloading to my device. I realize I don't read necessarily the current most popular books, but I feel the library should have a larger or broader base and should be able to get them. The books seem to take an incredibly long time to come available after placing a hold. I was served much better through Collister library who seemed to draw my books from so many different libraries and areas around the city, i.e., Nampa, Caldwell, etc. It does get expensive when I have to order from Amazon so I would like a more convenient selection of books and a more informed staff. They were all congregated in the room behind the desk when I spoke to the front desk attendant. No one bothered to ask each other or confer to reach a mutual opinion. read more
