I arrived with TIA symptoms and was admitted within a few minutes. Over the course of the next four hours I received a blood test, an electrocardiogram (irregular heartbeat), a CT scan, a doctors initial evaluation, a blood thinner and heart monitoring. Finally my results provided by the doctor (Michael) and discharge with full follow up documents. Everyone was very professional, very personable, caring and kind. re: recent appointment for a mid-morning procedure at the Medical Imaging unit at Eagle Ridge Hospital. On my own, a fine morning weather-wise, so decided to combine getting to the hospital via Skytrain, plus a walk from the last Port Moody station stop, where I detrained. An opportunity to catch some exercise, and see a a little of Port Moody on the way. I arrived at the hospital very early for my appointment time, but decided to check-in at the unit regardless, just in case I lucked out and was taken in for the procedure early. Check-in was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Fortunately, after being checked in, I was shown into the unit, and waited in a small area rather briefly, before being called in for the procedure to be conducted. Everything involved with the preparation for, and actual procedure itself went well. The attendant explained what was going to be done, and conducted each step with careful attention. The whole procedure lasted only a matter of several minutes, and I was back out to the hallway, and ready to return home. My 22 yr old daughter was not feeling well and had a fever so we brought her into Eagleridge. She was admitted quickly while they ran a gamut of tests over 36 hours. It was determined she had sepsis which can be fatal if not diagnosed and treated quickly. We were happy, although it took long, that the doctors were able to treat her with the right antibiotics over 2 weeks and she recovered 100%. Although communication was not great (nurses could not answer questions directly or were not certain of the cause) we did receive information from the doctor(s) once she was diagnosed correctly. I am glad that we were allowed to stay overnight, every night to assist my daughter going to the bathroom and keeping her company (we had to wear gowns and masks) and eventually she had her own room where I projected movies on the wall every night. read more

I have picked the worst time to get injured. Recently got a concussion from a sports related scuffle, it happened to fall on BC Day Holiday. The "emergency" hospital wing has been renovated since the last time I was here with my partner, but this time it is my turn. Let me tell ya it is an eye opener. There were maybe 4 times more rooms and waiting area From the outside in the reception, upon entry in triage, it looks like a war zone with lights, camera and no action. You wait. I wait. Occasionally the nurses would come around and take your vitals. 2-3x. To see if you are surviving the wait. Most give up. They seem to to prioritize "the closer you are to death the sooner you are seen"........but near death people always seem to arrive inadvertently incessantly. After having waited 7 hours in the waiting area you get to graduate to the inner patients rooms. I was put in room 25. The number goes up to 30. Then we wait again. As of the writing 1.5 hours more no doctor insight. 12 hours later. We are done. From 2:30 pm to 2:30 am. For a very simple diagnosis and simple prescription. Hundreds of people in emergency room with 1 doctor. OMG. Hire more doctors. 2023/08/11 Oh I almost forgot all of the lovely conversations I had with the racist boomers. For example, one lady said she had to pick up her great-grandkids, "these days you will be lucky to see one or two white children in the school yard". Another older man said "I don't understand why coloured people keep coming to this country?" One old couple asked "hey you go pick up some alcohol for me at the nearby liquor store". He wasn't joking. Aside from the subtle and deep seated racism, at least the boomers are engaging and not preoccupied with their phones. I had a major operation done and during my stay, it was clean, pleasant and the staff starting from the security, nurses, even cafeteria are smiling and friendly. My husband went there about 5 years ago for therapy after getting a brain injury. When he got to the hospital they wanted to send him home. He got very little therapy and when he went home he needed 24 hour care. I tried to work but found it really hard. I had to do everything. He couldn't walk and still can't. He is now in a nursing home getting 24 hour care. If I had to do it over again I wouldn't send anyone there for anything. the wait time was long, as to be expected. staff were friendly. My experience went downhill when I went for my CT scan. I suffered an injury and needed lots of help getting up & moving around. The lady giving me the scan (tall, brunette I believe) didn't offer any assistance of any kind. She watched me squirm & suffer for a few minutes and said "like what, did you just have surgery or something? Roll over and push yourself up" I can't even explain how rude she was and how she made me feel. This was on Jan 5 2023 at around 10:30pm. Painful! I went in for an work injury about two years ago. I clearly stated this was a wcb thing. No problem, good. A year later Fraser health sends me to collections. Collections told men to phone wcb. I phoned wcb, wcb told me to phone the hospital. I have been doing this for two days No one wants to take responsibility for this mess. I've had reason to visit this Emergency a few times in the past month and each time I waited 5+ hours. The first visit, I could barely speak because my tongue was swollen. Because I could still swallow and breathe, I was triaged as very low priority, which surprised me. Even a sore ankle was seen before me and as more and more people came in, many of them were seen before me too (triaged as a higher priority). This Emergency unit is woefully understaffed but the population in their catchment area has almost doubled in the past 10 years. With many people unable to find a family doctor, they often wait until their situation feels more serious and then come to Emergency to have it checked out - basically using it as a walk-in clinic. It's a double whammy that's only going to get worse. With COVID measures in place, you have to raise your voice to tell the registration person what your symptoms are, your name and birthdate, your currents meds and other medical history. This is 10 feet from a packed waiting area where everyone is watching and listening because there's nothing else to do. Imagine a man having to say through the plexiglass that he's taking Viagra on a regular basis, or someone saying they're taking antipsychotic medication. It's way too much information to be overheard by strangers but I guess it's a necessary evil and is probably happening in most Emergency rooms. Eagle Ridge is getting a new, larger Emergency room soon. Hopefully their registration/triage areas will be more private in the new place. One nurse I was speaking to said she's actually dreading the larger facility because that will mean even more staff is needed to keep things going. They're already struggling so much. She confided that she and many of her colleagues are burnt out and some are changing careers because there's no end in sight to the ever-increasing demand, even after COVID. They're exhausted and while patient gratitude is ample and appreciated, it doesn't help the staff's worsening overall situation. Over the past 15 years, I've had two day surgeries and one 3-night stay. All went well so I have no concerns about the rest of the hospital. Granted, the most recent of those events was 2014. I don't know how the service is today. For Emergency, I can only say that they're doing the best they can under the conditions. Please be kind to them. read more

An ambulance car brought me to the ERH with symptoms of severe food poisoning on an early morning. In a minute or so I was in the Emergency area, in a few more minutes I had the IV plugged in and soon I moved to the sitting area. It was a long hard day and also a very cold one (despite a lot of blankets) - because of the IV support going on. I repeatedly had my vitals captured and my blood drawn for tests. But it was impossible to not notice that everyone at the ERH was friendly, calm, professional, positive, helpful. I spent two more days there on observation (UPDATE: a whole week). Again, everyone was just great. I was very impressed. When I was checking out, I heard a man talking to nurses as if they were servants. I just wanted to beat him, and I think I myself would go postal by the end of the week at this job having to deal with patients like that. Oh, and a message to my fellow Americans: all the doctor and nurse care, countless IV bags, blankets, full meals at the hospital, additional on-request snacks and beverages, countless blood tests and vitals, the CT scan - all that resulted in a bill of... $0.00 (zero). It was all covered by the public insurance of British Columbia, which even stopped charging the small monthly premiums from individuals. Also, the hospital cooperated with a specialized doctor for my case (at no cost to me) and in just four days after I left the hospital I also had a follow-up appointment with her (at no cost). That's how the evil Socialist public healthcare of Canada worked for me. I know it's paid by taxes but isn't it worth paying a little more taxes to save lives in emergencies for free and without all the insurance headaches? The only thing that I was not very happy about was the menu. Bacons? Coffee? Seriously? I would also remove all highly processed food (e.g. corn flakes) from the menu and replace it with with something healthier and easier to digest. For example, apple slices and an oatmeal porridge were good ideas. In a similar way, you could also have rice porridge, millet porridge, buckwheat porridge for breakfasts. (UPDATE: on the back page of your personal menu there is a detailed feedback form, which I didn't know about. So it's actually all solvable quickly.) I went into emergency because of an allergic reaction on my face, and when I went in (thank god I didnt get this person), but Im guessing because of the COVID, the person did not want to touch the health care card for the PHN. So what did they do? They had the person reading off their PHN in front of the whole waiting room!! That can be a huge privacy problem!! The person who I talked with, just got me to put it down on the table so they could read it off!! I dont understand how they thought that having someone reading their PHN is secure... Another thing, is that there is someone at the door, asking why you are here, any symptoms, etc. O.M.G so rude!! They were so loud, very rude, curt, and impatient. Everyone in the whole room could here her practically yelling out patient information and health concerns. There was an older women with her daughter, and her daughter was saying that she needed to be in the room because she needed to interpret for her mom. The person said that she couldnt be in the room! She said that if the mother can understand basic English, there isnt any need! Because of COVID! So she's saying that the mother does not have the right to properly understand and explicitly tell the doctor without any misunderstandings occurring about her own problem! This person isnt a nurse or a doctor. When they went up to the front desk, the nurse said that there wouldnt be any problem at all with the daughter being in the room! Lastly, the doctor dismissed my issue, saying that she did not know what it was, and gave me a Rx for the itching. She did not even care that my throat was feeling tight and I had hard time seeing out of left eye because it was so swollen, and I couldn't breath properly. Ridiculous! I ended up having to go to Royal Columbian Hospital the next morning because my face had swollen up to the point that I couldnt see at all from my left, and barely out of my right eye. My throat and nose had tightened up so badly that I couldn't walk without feeling I needed to pass out... Just go to RCH... The Eagle Ridge Hospital is closer for me, but did absolutely nothing. I have been to this hospital three times now twice for stitches (because for some reason I need to get stitches two to three times a year) and most recently for surgery. Every time I have been there I have had speedy and pleasant service... well in comparison to R.C.H anyways where all my other experiences have been. Also every time I have gone to Eagle Ridge there is always someone cracking a joke at my expense or telling me to suck it up, which I have to admit I find really entertaining. So anyways my first overnight stay was pretty good considering. Got there at noon, in surgery at one thirty just like promised.... woke up percocet and fentanol a great cocktail. Nurses were very nice and overly sympathetic which is always nice when nobody is watching to judge you. They even let the girlfriend stay two and a half hours past visiting hours. Also they even thought my joke was funny (or at least pretended it was) Said joke: I went to the doctors and told him I'm in pain all over doctor, when I touch my head it hurts, when I touch my chest it hurts, when I touch my legs it hurts. Doctor says "where are you from son" Patient says "Newfoundland" Doctor says : "son your finger is broken" ZING!!! Anyyyyyywaysss lets finish this review now, as I sit here on T 3's and the other thing I cant pronounce at five in the morning, I reflect back on my times at Eagle Ridge hospital and think good job guys. On Friday Oct 16 2020 I went to Eagle Ridge Hospital for a day surgery procedure. All I can say is wow... This is the best hospital I have ever been in. From the moment I walked through the doors I was impressed by how clean the hospital was and how friendly and helpful all of the staff were. The whole day I was treated with kindness and concern and nothing was too much trouble. The nurses were constantly checking on me, bringing me warm blankets, and drinks. 10 out of 10 for everything. Went in the other day because I thought I broke my ankle (turned out to be a severe sprain) and was forced to wait for nearly 4 hours before getting seen by a doctor. The registration desk was awful and rude. I have severe allergies to many medications and they didn't put an allergy alert bracelet on me (despite my mentioning it) which later led to a doctor trying to give me one of the meds I am allergic to. The only star here was the triage nurse who was extremely caring and immediately ordered me an xray and tried her best to get me some pain medication. The bathrooms were disgusting and covered in pee. The floors were dirty. The doctor was extremely rude and dismissive. My foot was swollen to the size of a football. She barely looked at it and told me I had a sprain, and to take some advil (allergic!) and try walking on it. I couldn't put ANY of my weight on it and she didn't even look?! So I came back here the next day because I was getting worse and worse, and saw FOUR OTHER PEOPLE who were in the emerg department the night before that had come back for the same reason; the shitty doctor from the previous night. Almost the same story as above, but I waited close to 6 hours before being seen. There were several other people who had been there for 9-10 hours for quite serious issues. Long story short, don't bother with Eagle Ridge Hospital anymore. Their care has gone DRASTICALLY downhill in the past year. You're better off waiting a little bit longer and going to Royal Columbian, which is quite a shame because it used to be other way around. I hope something gets changed and soon because this is a joke. read more

My son was in a very critical condition he was screaming from the pain .His blood pressure was down to 4 and the heart pulse was 126.He was dizzy and had a very bad stomach flu .I asked for help several time and we had to wait for 6 hours.Finally they gave me a notice that if i go to reception desk and ask one more time they will tell me to leave the hospital.They gave my son a wrong Pain killer and made his heart rate gets worse. when we went home we almost lost him and we had to rush back to hospital and wait for another 5 hours read more

I will never attend Eagle Ridge Hospital again. What a nightmare! I had a simply dreadful experience there that I wasn't going to write about until I read the reviews below, now my conscience will not let me remain silent. I was taken to Eagle Ridge Hospital by ambulance after what I now realize what a bad attack of GERD (acid reflux disease) two days after I had been admitted to Royal Columbian Hospital with a heart attack. At RCH, they brought me back with a shock a stint and a pain shot and for that I am eternally grateful. Later that night I left the hospital and went home. I don't remember why. But I am very sorry I did. I woke up at home very sorry I had left the hospital. I had an attack of GERD (at home, two days after and the ambulance took me to Eagle Ridge Hospital. There the nightmare began. First of all, in ER, I had a young woman draw blood and actually yell at me when I suggested she try the other arm. She blasted me loudly and in a rude and unprofessional way I had never heard before. I heard another nurse shouting that my problem was I had been jolted back at RCH then left and something about me being fat. I could not believe this young woman, who kept screaming, "I'm baby crazy! I'm baby crazy!" running along and shouting and insulting patients right to their faces. I think she was trying to convey that the suffering of a baby in ER was causing her "womb" to react in sympathy. I thought it was the same nurse who had been abusive while taking blood because truthfully? Who would expect that level of treatment from two caregivers on the same day in the same place? I was wrong, they were two different individuals. They wheeled me up to the Monitored Care Unit. If not for the kindness of Queenie and Byron, two nurses on staff, I felt that I surely would have died. The internist and the head nurse, a strange and cruel woman, accused me of being psychotic and paranoid and threatened me with a 21-day hold (they used to call this a "section") if I did not agree to stay 3 extra days and four nights and see an in-house psychiatrist at the end. I tried to tell them it was not my heart but rather GERD (acid reflux) as the pain although severe was different - high up at both front and back right between shoulder blades. I had experienced it before. I had written notes for the doctor. He was arrogant and brushed me off and did not listen to a word I said. The attitude by the nurses and doctors was punitive, arrogant, nasty and gossipy (you could hear them talking about you down the hall and laughing) except for Queenie and Byron. They were kind and decent and held back on giving me the meds by mouth (oral morphine and Tylenol #3 with codeine, which even I know is the worst possible thing to give a patient with GERD). The others gave it then watched me twist and scream and vomit through the night until finally they put a laxative in my line. It was disgusting! The way I was treated was absolutely disgusting. The internist, his head nurse (the woman looked like a bald eagle and was extremely racist and abusive towards the Filipino nurses, chasing them around until they were in tears. Had I the strength I would have got out of bed and stop or be reported) and she herself towards me was absolutely rude, abusive, threatening and weird. Just WEIRD!!! People like that should not be allowed to treat the vulnerable and sick. Crazy "baby nurse" and the rude, aggressive little person who shouted at me when she took my blood, plus the internist who was condescending rude and dismissive made me have an experience at the Closed Unit Ward that I believe has given me PTSD!! I have not been able to forget about it since. I wrote letters of praise to everyone (general to hospital but I wanted the excellent care of firefighters and EMT's who transported me to be highlighted and not ruined by the rest of it) but now in good conscience I have to speak up. The internist in charge of the Closed Unit Monitoring Ward is a cold authoritarian type man whose head nurse seems unhinged. I suffer from MDD and part of the problem apparently were some antidepressants I'd been left on for too long at too high a dose. They slid me down off those meds at record speed, then tried me on mirtazapine, which is absolutely the wrong thing to prescribe to an overweight woman who has just had a heart attack and should keep her blood pressure and heart rate down. The reading is all there in the pharmacist's notes, and confirmed by pharmacist and my own doctor later. I took myself off that beginner's dose and have since then remained off anti-depressants because I have a vicious case of chronic constipation now, due I believe in large part to the mismanagement of my problem during my horrid 3 day 4 night stay in the Monitored Care Unit. Update: That painful problem has abated with careful diet and a therapeutic dose of magnesium but it took a good three weeks before relief. My goodness! They should shut that place down. It's a hazardous zone. read more

Having said that I would like to stress that the small sized white lady at the registration counter in the emergency unit seriously should consider changing her career, not suitable to work in hospital. She is SOOOOO rude and does not have any idea what it's like to be in pain and be attended by a moron like her. She sits in an individual room close to the public phone. I cannot understand why people working in the front line find it difficult to smile or say please and thank you. WHY? There was another lady with dark hair and tan skin who was pleasant. The other staff, Dr M, Nurse Sk, Na and helper Na in the 2nd level MCU ward were super nice and I must THANK the Chinese guy who did the transfer to RCH, the driver of the ambulance (Dennie or Ennie) and the lady who was with us in the ambulance. I've been a nurse for 30 + years so I know I can be really critical and picky when I'm a patient or with a family member in emerg.. however I have recently been to Eagleridge emerg with my sister and for myself and I was so impressed.. SO impressed by every aspect of my interactions with the nurses, doctors, the woman at check in... there isn't anything that I criticize....other than the usual and expected lack of confidentiality or privacy by hearing all the details of the other patients conditions but that's unavoidable in that setting. Really impressed and to top it off I recently met one of the ER charge nurses at a restaurant and she offered me help in following up on a clinic visit that I missed the booking on. A wonderful community hospital. If I was to go back to nursing I'd go here. read more

Far better than R.C. I would go to Eagle Ridge anytime over R.C. Just do not use NURSE NEXT DOOR for any after care. They are totally rude, bulling and if you complain, they threaten to send your account to a collection agency despite the fact they KNOW full well why you voiced several concerns during their time with you and they offered to knock a few petty dollars off the bill. It's PAY US or ELSE! No caring at all and no compassion. Bothered me 1 day after a major biopsy, wanting to still argue about the old bill. I told them to go ahead and do what they need to do and I will do likewise, which I am doing. I've taken my wife and sons there over the years, and have always had good service. We've lived nearby in Coquitlam for almost 30 years. What annoys me is folks who use this ER for routine things like colds and the flu; and then blame the ER for having to wait because folks with a serious injury - like broken bones; or a heart attack get moved to the head of the line. There are GPs, and walk in clinics, for the routine stuff. You are supposed to go there, and not clog up the ERs. Last Thursday morning my wife broke her left ankle (in 3 spots) and the ambulance took her to Eagle Ridge. Even though she was in great pain, and it seemed like forever for the ambulance to pick her up, (it probably took 20 minutes to get to our house), the Paramedics were great! The staff at Eagle Ridge were professional and courteous; and the surgeon and anesthetist explained the whole process in layman terms that were easily understood. The Nursing Staff were also very much on top of things, except I think they left my wife in Recovery far longer than needed, as the ward had another patient take the bed that was assigned to my wife (priorities I bet) and another one wasn't freed up until about 9:00 PM. The only knock was I was waiting the extra 3 hours to see my wife after surgery and they never gave me a heads up on what was the delay. read more

I went to this hospital 2 times and each time saw the same Dr. During my first visit, my 4 year old had a 38+ fever and bad earache. After 4 hour waiting, the Dr said to continue giving Tylenol and if symptoms worsen, come back. He checked her lungs, ears and throat for about 3 seconds in total and left. My daughter couldn't sleep that night. I took her to a walking clinic where I was told she must be on antibiotics. After first dose, her fever went down and next day the earache was gone. My second visit was yesterday and again it was the same Dr. My thyroid was swollen and I could feel it when I ate, swallowed, etc. It bothered me so much. It was Friday night. The Dr said you should see a family Dr as it's not emergency. Even though I explained him my Dr is booked 2-3 wks ahead and can I at least get an ultrasound requisition, I was told roses my Dr. The three hour waiting time and 3 min chat with Dr was a complete waist of time on Valentine's eve. I had an infuriating conversation with the receptionist as she asked me to drive home and come back with a health card, while I had trouble explaining my situation and keeping my cool. Mostly good staffs especially this morning-noon was better than last night. No one replaced the tissues outside so it's hard to find some at night when everything is closed and most people are busy. It's a pretty clean and well organized hospital, and it's quite close to the skytrain station and bus stops. Lots of parking spaces and you pay inside as well. The ambulance they called for us in the morning was quite a mixed feeling but disappointing experience. One of the ambulance guy, Chris, was very helpful and professional but his partner, Brad, is the worse egotistic and unprofessional guy I've seen. Very aggressive and irritated the moment he stepped into my house with my dog (like focus on why you're here please) then he verbally forced the patient to get up and walk alone (which WAS NOT OK and Chris and our friend which is a retired family doctor for 40+ years was NOT impressed) he yelled at my family friend when he tried stopping him from pushing the patient and said he feel unsafe with his action...WE feel unsafe that he's in my house and doing this line of work. He was impatient, rude, disorganized, and lack of empathy is completely ridiculous and unbelievable. All he cared about was his report which wasn't even completely done right when we got to the hospital and he was telling the nurse things that he assumed without asking (which of course I knew the answer of if he cared to ask). He's very emotionally unstable and bipolar, a danger and liability to the patient and the job. The patient can speak English but sometimes still have a bit of language barrier and with the pain and medication it's hard to answer questions or to know what's going on. I tried to explain what the doctor said from the emergency the night before and the medication the patient took. The retired doctor called the emergency doctor that's working today and asked her and was trying to explain to Brad what Jessica (the doctor from this hospital) told him this morning, but he completely ignored it all and raised his voice at us to back off so he can do his work (which wasn't even done right and safely to begin with) he kept raising his voice and even yelled directions and question at the patient in the face when the patient is in critical pain and trying to answer and in process of getting up and doing what he said but he's so impatient he had to yell the question and directions again right after. Completely unacceptable and he need to be suspended if not worse. His partner said this is not the first time he's like this and caused problems, apparently he's always been like this. read more

If I could give it a negative star I would. This has to be the worst hospitals I have ever felt with. You would think we were in a third world country with the way the dr's and nurses behave. My father has been in here two centuries now. Second time totally their fault. When he got a reg procedure done. They nicked him inside in two different spots so he was bleeding internally. The ended up back in because of lack of blood and passed out. Broke his foot. They didn't feed him for 5 days and didn't even fix the foot. Obviously the dr and nurses do not talk to one another as they kept doing the same things over and over again. They wouldn't give him his inhalers that he needs to be able to breath. So I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. My dad ended up walking out of the hospital on a broken foot for the lack of care and education that this so called hospital had. read more

I was brought in to this hospital on Sunday night, February 24 with a severe asthma attack. I was immediately treated with the highest quality of care by all levels of staff - Doctors Neil Barclay calmed me down as they started immediate treatment and then I saw Dr Ling and Dr. Beaver (who I teased a bit - Beaver Cleaver). Everyone I came into contact with was respectful and caring. I would never have received this quality of care in my own Province of Ontario - I would have died waiting to be treated. The medical experience in ER was a joke,I begin to express my pain to the ER doctor ,on the charts it indicates spine disease ,I also begin to express the molar that might have had something to do with the severe pain and he checks me and advises me it was a muscular issue.I then ask him from 1 to 10 how sure are you and he says 90 per cent. Well guess what he never did blood work or check for possible infection around the tooth and at the end result after seeing a specialist he advises me it was the molar and A SEVERE INFECTION. What a joke these days in the medical field the government should really look at the health care in Canada. This doctor could have caused me a lot of different medical conditions if I was not pro-active.Good luck to the people of Canada in the 21st century lol Nothing further to report. read more

My hubby had surgery Thursday and was in for 2 nights and 2 full days. The nurses were amazing, caring and helpful. Even the food was pretty decent. What was really bad though was housekeeping. As in, there wasn't any. A person came in with a mop to sweep around a bed that was recently vacated, but things like pill cups and syringe caps were on the floor beside Hubby's bed, and never swept up. There was something sticky on the floor beside the bed, it was never mopped up. Blood on his sheets, never changed. But the worst thing was the bathroom. Dirty toilet, dirty sticky floor, (in front of the toilet ), dirty sink and mirror, torn paper towel pieces on floor and sink. So disgusting! I was in a hospital in Surrey last year, it wasn't perfect but it didn't gross me out, not ever. It's all Fraser Health, what's the deal with Eagle Ridge? I'm sure the cleaning people make decent money, they just don't care. read more

I had a very positive experience at Eagle Ridge recently after undergoing shoulder surgery and a brief ward admittance. Eagle Ridge is a gem of a hospital. From the pre-op visit to the post op care, I found hospital staff to be fantastic from the administrators to the anesthesiologists, to the surgical team and the nursing staff. They were all communicative, thorough, attentive, and caring. The atmosphere in this hospital is positive and collegial and the setting is beautiful and serene. Hospital staff seemed genuinely happy to be at Eagle Ridge and this spilled over to excellent patient care. In the ward, I observed nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians and nurse's aids go out of their way to ensure the best possible care for even the most challenging patients. It was refreshing to observe in the hospital setting that patients' pain levels and special needs were taken seriously and not challenged, dismissed or belittled. No complaint was too small, no request was too big. The patient came first. Within a few minutes of a call button being pushed, someone came to check in our ward and never begrudgingly. The fantastic thing about this positive patient interaction is it does positively affect patient healing and morale. Patient safety and well being were also of primary importance when it came to patient discharge. Discharge didn't happen until the charge nurse and team deemed it was safe for him/her to transition home and that a follow up care plan was in place. All in all, my experience from my pre-op to post op at Eagle Ridge hospital was top notch. Thank you all!!! read more

Dirt bags, I was delirious with a e-coli infection when I made my way ( 1st. mistake ) to the e.r. on a Friday night. I had what they call rigours, uncontrollable shaking, could barely speak, I was aware of the seriousness of my situation, asking for help, explaining to anyone that would listen about my botched surgery, they had me written up as rude and aggressive, 7 hours to cook , at this point I started to vomit all over the e.r., finally I got some attention ( 7 hours, e-coli ). they put me in a bed, more rude treatment, The sweethearts woke me at 3: 30 a.m. after treatment, and told me to leave, unescorted, the only patient in the e.r. at this time. I believe these rude sensitive pigs conspired to make me suffer for my so called rude behaviour the entire e.r. staff was in on it one way or another. (told by my surgeon the staff had been trained for this situation ) I honestly believe I would have died had I not gotten sick in there e.r. I would crawl to the curb and die before letting those rotten bastards touch me again. I only hope those involved get the karma coming to them. what goes around comes around read more
