Once we made the choice to put our son back in childcare the search began. I've heard great things about all the Primrose schools and approached the one in kelliwood. The staff was so helpful during the crazy time and even provided a video walk through of the school when parents weren't allowed to enter. We started with summer enrollment and then continued for Pre-K. My son has learned so much during his time here. I heard about so many children getting behind and I never felt like we were in that boat. I write this with tears in my eyes as our Primrose journey is coming to an end with our youngest attending elementary in the fall. When my older daughter was two I knew she needed to transition from a private nanny to a school environment. I did my research; I checked out every "outstanding" preschool in the Katy area! I wanted a school that REALLY CARED about my daughter, met my ridiculously high cleanliest/hygienic standards, provided healthy foods (I have a degree in Dietetics), and provided outstanding academic curriculum. Most importantly, I wanted a school that would be an extension of "home" for her. Primrose was the soft place we landed and it was the best decision for our family. My oldest daughter started in Preschool A and attended through the Explorers program (3rd grade). My youngest started at 8 weeks old in the infant room and just completed her Kindergarten year at the Kelliwood location. I am in awe of how much my daughters grew in their time there. Primrose is certainly a leader in early education with their curriculum extending far beyond ABC's and numbers. The children learn essential life skills, critical thinking, social skills, good manners, how to be good citizens of the world, ways to be healthy, and get to experience frequent hands-on-learning field trips (Pre-K and older), etc. Both of my girls are/were more than prepared for elementary school. My oldest transitioned into the GT program in elementary and my youngest is leaving Primrose Kindergarten on a 1st grade level for math and reading. And while academics are important, it's really the staff that has made our time there such a sweet experience. The teachers and administration truly care about each student. They are vibrant and fun, they love on the kids, they come up with creative and fun learning activities and are always throwing a party for something! It is truly a family atmosphere. When COVID-19 began and students started online learning, Ms. Klein (Kinder teacher) and the staff created a seamless transition. I was impressed by their creativity in finding different and fun ways to engage with the kids as if they were in the classroom! From the ladies at the front desk (even through change/new hires), to ALL the teachers, this place has relieved any and all stress about our daughter's development and learning. She loves going to class, all the teachers welcome EVERY KID everyday. You're able to "checkin" via a live stream video which is awesome when you're missing your nugget. Our daughter has learned SO MUCH and comes home with new knowledge everyday. They communicate extremely well and always provide necessary info. Calendars to help keep you up-to-date, reach out and alert you of any changes made (even daily meals which may be overkill but, I'm for it!). The teachers and the director were super nice and great during enrollment and the entire time my son was there. They made our start and abrupt stop very easing and we're very understanding and accommodating to our needs. It was the first time my son (4) had been in anything cause, you know, Covid. He was terrified of everything and having the camera to let me check in eased my mind a lot. His teachers helped calm him each morning and let him sit and do puzzles as his classmates trickled in. I do agree with a previous commenter that there aren't a lot of obvious Covid protocols in place. The kids did not wear masks, though my son does everywhere else, and they only washed hands and tables right before eating. They sit and sleep right next to each other and share just about everything. My biggest regret was that there was little to no free time or open center time for the kids. Everything was very structured from the product-art that his teacher obviously did or corrected to three/4 circle times and lots of table activities. He went outside once during his time there. Even if it's hot, kids need at least 15 mins outside a day to just move. Our plan was to send him there for socialization but he barely had time to do that. They provided food and snack but did not let me know if he ate anything or not. When I questioned him, he couldn't give me an answer either. They have a letter they send home but it's a generic one that has nothing to do with a specific lesson or activity or your child for that day. It was the same one for the whole week and pointless. Works for older kids, perhaps, but I sent more detailed ones when I worked in Early Education and even as a fourth grade teacher. Overall, it wasn't what I was expecting but it wasn't bad. We pulled my son out cause he got sick a week and a half in. It was a regular cold from new, preschool germs, but with Covid on the rise again, we just pulled him for at home care.

They are so accommodating to each child's need. It is very evident that they have a lot of experience with babies and often give good advice. My child clearly loves his teachers and smiles each day he sees them. I am confident each day that my little one is in great hands. The school director is also wonderful as well. This daycare has cameras to log in and check on your little one and the teachers often send pictures of the kids through an app. I couldn't recommend this daycare more.
