She's still very athletic though, which is why we call her "Wig Ann, Athletic." First-Hand Experience: Wigan is one of my fave underdog teams. I've seen them play once at the DW and twice away from home around the country. They have always represented themselves well. I last saw them in 2011. Now that they have fallen from grace, I wish them a speedy recovery. Their owner's oft-racist and oft-unwise remarks and tirades are the only reason I give them 4 instead of 5. That, and the fact that they can't fill a stadium. This team, I have mixed feelings about. Roberto Martinez and Paul Jewell really put them on the map, two of my favourite managers. But their owner Dave Whelan, famous for making meat pies, is a bit of a racist and nationalist, and gets on my nerves sometimes. I also respect him in other ways though. They were founded in the 1930s so they're a relatively new team. They play in blue and white and are called the Latics. They were in the Prem for ages, until they randomly, crazily won the FA Cup in 2013, and were relegated the same season. That's the only glory the club has ever had, after being the League Cup runner up in 2006. So well done to them for that, what a fairy tale. The stadium is often empty and the owner is questionable, and for that reason I'll give them a 4 instead of 5.

I've been coming here for years and have pretty much tried all they have to offer. Most often we'd come and play football, they have 5, 5 aside pitches, a 7 aside pitch and an 11 aside (or near enough) pitch - and rental prices are pretty competitive with other options around Bolton. They have a nice little cafe inside as well so you can grab a coffee before or after and they have sandwiches too!

There are regular tournaments here that have a pretty competitive entrance fee and they run leagues every Tuesday & Thursday for both 5 and 6 a side teams. My friends and I just entered a league on Thursdays and have only had 1 week there up to now. We won (which is always a bonus) and everything was pretty well organised, so a good start! We're expecting our free team shirts next week which you are supposedly given when you enter a team - whether we receive these or not could decided their fate on the 3 or 5 star move! All in all a good setup here, affordable pitch hire for you and your mates - book for 1 hour or make a discounted block booking for a few weeks.

We drove up north from Liverpool to Burnley to watch their match against West Ham. We got to check out their Jimmy McIlroy social area before the game and we had a great time. The field is a bit antiquated, but sufficient for the steadfast Claret fans. It may be one of the oldest parks in the Premier League. The grounds were well tended to, the seats although a bit old were faded but not cracked or uncomfortable to sit in for the 90+ minutes of the match. The social area was first rate, we had our own ushers that kept us from going astray, and helped us find what we needed. We had to pay for drinks, but the food presented was delicious. Before kickoff, they had three food stations. They offered a Korean Rice Bowl station with pork belly or fried tofu, chilli cucumber pickle, gochujang mayo. I had like three of these... they were amazing. The second offering was a Katsu Chicken Burger with kimchi, katsunnaise, on a brioche bun. It was also pretty good. The third pre-game offering was the beech smoked pork sausage on a brioche bun with smashed nachos, crispy onions, ketchup, and mustard. I passed on this one. After half they served butter chicken & spinach pie, also pretty good - and tea or coffee. The fans were dedicated. There was a lot of chanting, a lot of C'me On Burnley!" They really wanted to will their team to victory. My daughter got a pic with a minority owner, JJ Watts, as he was in the building for the match as well. Unfortunately for the Clarets, they fell short on the "will of one nil," as the Hammers scored two in the final minutes and beat the home team. The Burnley fans were not happy. Turf Moor is one of your traditional, older stadiums in the Premier League, it has been home to…read moreBurnley since 1883 and as I recall it is one of the oldest football stadiums in the Premier League, older than Goodison Park and Anfield yet a few years later than Stamford Bridge. For an old stadium especially for one of Burnley's structure, I was quite impressed with Turf Moor which has a capacity of just over 22,000. More recently, they have expanded disabled seating to meet Premier League requirements which the ground was behind in for a long time, they previously only offered away supporters 3 wheelchair bays (The average is around 12-15 often reaching 25), but due to a reformat of the stadium they've now increased that to 18 which is impressive. The staff at the stadium seemed mixed - the stewards actually used common sense by not blocking the view (often they stand at the front and refuse to move, meaning you can't see the view), however on the front enterance the person scanning tickets seemed to be talking to a friend - he didn't even look at me which surely was a security flaw (anyone could have gotten in without a ticket, he wasn't paying any attention). Obviously I was happy with the result being a 4-1 win for Manchester City, my team and I also felt welcome as an away supporter from the club, I booked parking in advance which was pretty expensive at £10 considering a large amount of street parking and car parks nearby and the fact there is a good wait to get out of the car park until all the pedestrians have gone, but still how close the car park was to the stadium was remarkable, it was so close I could have probably watched the game from my car (Okay I wouldn't go that far - but it was so close!), and being a first-timer to the ground and it being a freezing, cold night in December I was glad of the parking space. The one big screen at the other end of the Cricket Field (away stand) seemed pretty small, but I did have a decent view of the pitch even if the writing on the big-screen was impossible to read and poorly formatted. Despite being an old stadium, it has been improved of late to meet UEFA requirements and Premier League requirements (more seats for disabled people in both home and away areas AND removing the wooden seats for plastic ones in the Cricket Field Stand) 3* - Pretty cool stadium for a club like Burnley, they have tried to improve it as much as they could while they still don't have the facilities of a big club's modern arena (concourse is not disabled-friendly, you go in from outside), it still is a stadium which has improved and I really hope they won't revert on the changes when Burnley's inevitable relegation comes around.

Leagues are on every night with various levels, as well as pitches that can just be rented. Prices have crept up quite slowly in the past few years. Bar is good, with bar staff usually very friendly. Can be hired out for parties. Parking is not bad, but does get a bit crampt at the peak times through the week.

Not forgetting having some of the worst views for away fans in the league through the pillars at the back or staff and stewards constantly walking infront of you (which also blocked the disabled supporters). The stewards here also seem to be the rudest I've experienced, not only blocking my view with no apology but stopping fans from getting to the barriers meaning they can't get close to the players after the game (no other stadium does this) A stadium which even after a win can bring disappointment and for me Everton's new stadium can't come soon enough.

Not really... I'm a massive Liverpool fan, so I'm supposed to hate Everton... but I don't. I think they're one of the best clubs in the whole world! First-Hand Experience: I've seen Everton play live - in person - too many times, I respect them, but Liverpool are twice as good. You can't get much more first hand than watching Everton play at Goodison (and Anfield). They're older than Liverpool, and nowhere near as successful, but they live just down the road from us, right across the park, and we enjoy the "friendly derby" with them. Their stadium is lovely (just like Anfield) and even though they play in ugly blue and dislike LFC, I still like them. They're like our angry little cute brother. Formed in 1878, they had David Moyes as manager for ages (and won nothing) and now have Martinez (much more fun to watch). They are known as the Toffees because they are all a bit fat. They have been champions of England 9 times (I got shot 9 times - 50 Cent), which is half as many times as their city rivals but still more than almost any other team. The last time was in 1987 (three years before Liverpool's last title). Five of the titles were before WWII, since then the other three are 63, 70 and 85. They were runners up 6 times, but only once after the first world war which was 86, behind Liverpool. They won the FA Cup 5 times... 06, 33, 66, 84 and 1995, their most recent trophy. They have been League Cup runners up twice. Amazingly, they won the Cup Winners Cup in Europe in 1985. They are one of very few English teams to win a European trophy. And as for a little banter, I will echo what Jasper said: "They used to have a chubby lad named Wayne who would kick about down here but he has since moved on to a career in fondling yer nan. Gone are the glory days of Danny Cadamarteri and Francis Jeffers, but this is still a good place to get some chips if you can manage to ignore all the tripe on the pitch."

First-Hand Experience: I've seen ASFC play at home and it was amazing. I know a couple of ASFC fans and they're lovely and very unbiased about other clubs and very positive. In 2011 I saw ASFC lose here live and in person, but I also think based on another experience, that they are a great club that always put up a great fight for great fans. Wonderful to have them back in the big time. I will always have a soft spot for them and will probably see them again in 2016. They're a legend, and until recently they were an absent legend, having dropped out of the football league long ago, long after their heyday before colour TV was invented, in fact, before TV in general. Their legend was immortalized when they were featured on a commercial with two Liverpool fans roughly 10 years old. One said "if Ian Rush didn't drink milk, he'd only be good enough to play for Accrington Stanley." "Accrington Stanley? Who are they?" says the other one. "Exactly!" comes the reply. Well now, everyone remembers who ASFC are, because they are back in the league. The original club was founded in 1891 but was liquidated in the 1960s. This club has the same name, and replaced them. Formed in 68 and finally getting back in the league in 2006. They play in red and are from a pretty part of Northern England in the hills north of Manchester. Hassan Khan recently saved the club by convincing his father Ilyas to invest in them. It pays to have young fans with rich family connections. Their rise has been pretty amazing, with half a dozen promotions in the last 20 years. Congrats to them. First-Hand Experience: I'm lucky enough to have seen Sheffield Wednesday live on 6 or 7 occasions, including in the very old days down in Oxford, and of course at their home stadium more recently. Which was very sad for me. This team is a brilliant team that is a giant of the English game. I have to separate them from their stadium which was a death trap and a heartbreaking place for any Liverpool fan. They were formed in 1867 and so are one of the oldest teams in the world. They're currently in the second tier but are a fallen giant, along with Sheffield United, and belong back in the big time as soon as possible. They were originally a cricket club which is kind of boring. The club played only on Wednesdays, hence the name of the team now. They play in boring blue and white. The Arctic Monkeys, Gary Cahill, Paul Carrack, Jarvis Cocker, Michael Palin, Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead and Def Leppard all supposedly support the Owls. Yes they're nicknamed the Owls, how adorable. They have won the Premier League 4 times, in 1903, 1904, 1929 and 1930, so some really amazing pedigree there. They won the League Cup as recently as 1991 when they were still a top team, and they won the FA Cup in 1896, 1907 and 1935, so their trophy cabinet is definitely full and impressive. They've spent 66 seasons in the top division, but not since the year 2000, so hopefully they'll be back soon. The reviews here that are for the stadium need to be moved to the new stadium listing. They once beat Geri Halliwell 12-0. I'd rather join her than beat her. Chris Waddle, Des Walker, Marc Degryse, Paolo Di Canio, David Hirst, were a few of the legends here. Sheridan, Harkes, Wegerle too. Americans before Americans were cool. Just don't ever go and watch them on a Tuesday or a Thursday. It'll end badly.
