Kings is, at heart, a framers- a very good modern framers- but it also has great taste in home decor, stationery and little design gifts. They have fabulous wrapping paper, great journals bound in neon leather and huge squishy cushions covered in bright Indian inspired fabrics. Even when you don't buy something it's an inspiring shop to look around.

Although the pictures in the window often look lovely, I don't have enough money to go around purchasing framed artwork, or indeed, getting anything framed. But I did step over the threshold the other day and was very pleasantly surprised. They do, of course, predominantly provide a framing service and sell artwork, but they also sell design books, have a really wide and interesting range of wrapping papers, gorgeous note cards and stationary, and my favourite thing of all, they sell these beautiful aged leather satchels in the all the colours of the rainbow, in large and small sizes. I desperately want one, but the small ones are £65 and the large are £85. I've done rather too much frivolous spending recently to justify the expense. But really, the shop has a lot more to it than I was expecting. Even the décor is cool, with lovely coloured tiles on the floor. The prices are fairly high, they have a section of the front with small empty 'off-the-shelf' frames to purchase, which range in price from about £18 to £40. You could definitely get similar items much cheaper in bigger stores, but if you are prepared to spend a little extra they have some really beautiful things.

We placed an order on line and it had been confirmed together with the pickup agreed for yesterday…read moremorning. On arrival they could not locate the order. After waiting a while we were advised that they had sold out and our order could not be completed. There was no information as to whether it could be completed if at all! Obviously disappointed I find that we had traveled unnecessarily at a cost to us and as pensioners it was a cost we could ill afford. Superb garden centre that's sure to cater for your every need…read more This place is HUGE a look at the car park, overflow carpark and overflow overflow car park will give you some idea just how HUGE! The plant selection here is excellent. Houseplants, shrubs, bedding plants, trees, you name it, they'll have it. Plants are always in excellent condition and they're very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and knowledgable about the plants they sell. There's an excellent florists and you can order some fantastic bouquets or make up your own with their extensive cut flower selection. A huge range of stoneware, soils, barks and stones are available and this place is so popular it even has a drive through compost run to allow you to pick up your compost without having to park. Outbuilding, pool and pet concessions exist. There's a good range of gardening attire and gift ware. A good range of toys and gifts complete the set up. There's a cafe here with limited outdoor seating in addition to a large indoor area. There are always plenty of trolleys of varying sizes but do expect the place to be VERY VERY BUSY! Recommended.

If you can't find the material that you are looking for they always seem to have an idea for an alternative. Although i have found cheaper places to buy fabric, i like the fact that i always leave here with more ideas for making clothes than what i went in with. There are lots of craft stalls too, some are quite expensive, but its nice to have a look round and have a chat.

I now know it's actually an ethical home store that sells a mix of furniture and home decor. Based on Gloucester Road in the North Laines, it's a medium size shop surrounded by cool design shops, fashion boutiques and jewellery stalls. Admittedly, a lot of the space is taken up by a variety of wooden beds but they also sell stylish and environmentally friendly sofa-beds, chairs, lamps, cushions, bed linen, wine-racks, umbrella stands, silicon coat hooks and kitchenware. The thing I loved most about the shop however, was it's collection of London Bus blinds. You can buy these framed from £125 a pop and they look fantastic. Prices were a bit on the steep side (mugs were £10 each) but I did see a couple bargains hidden in the mix: Recycled wool blanket for only £20. The selection, like the shop, is small, but they do have a website you can order from - or use for a sneak peek at the style.

I expected it to be small, but actually it expands down the length of the north wing of Southover Grange House. It is a shop/gallery which sells the work of the Sussex guild, a group of designers artists and craftspeople, whose members live and work in Sussex and the surrounding area. The various artists' and designers' work for sale includes pottery, jewellery, furniture and art. It ranges in price and style, from homey crockery painted with cartoon-y chickens, to elegantly painted silk clothing, to wooden furniture for upwards of two grand a piece. The guild also runs classes, such as how to make fused glass jewellery, or turn wooden bowls, or do quilting. To inquire about courses you can telephone or visit the shop.

They also do a good range of things like kitchen plastics and assorted small electrical items (kettles, microwaves, office shredders). Another bonus is that this store is open seven days a week (things always tend to go wrong when you least expect!). They'd get another star from me if their service was better: the staff are generally friendly and try to be helpful, but it always seems a bit chaotic, especially at the till. They need some process improvement here.

Having bought the last couple of kettles from Currys, I decided to check out the kitchen section of Robert Dyas this time and was pleasantly surprised by the goods on offer. As well as stocking a variety of travel kettles, cordless kettles, filter kettles and traditional heritage kettles with whistles, they had a brushed stainless steel number from Kenwood. Marked down from £50 to £24.99, I scooped it up and took it to the counter where a lady called Mercedes rang it up, complimented me on my hair and wished me a lovely evening.
