Grand for getting last minute schoolbooks, stationery, copies and all the rest. I like the fact that there is a coffee shop upstairs so you can read your new book while sipping on a latte and they do cards and magazines and much much more read more

Tuthills

This is one of those newsagents that tortures parents everywhere. It's the eye-popping pick 'n' mix…read morecounters, the immanently desirable cuddly toys and all those peculiar magazine versions of cartoons that makes this place a siren for little kiddies. They get sucked in by their own odious childlike greed and have to be surgically remove them from a larger-than-life stuffed Garfield twenty minutes later. The proximity of Tuthills, which I think used to be a Bus Stop, to the cinema is what made Saturday matinees a tense experience for me and my family. I still pine after those bloody Garfields today. There really must be something genetic or magical about the allure of a stuffed Garfield because I never even found that cartoon strip amusing. So I suggest if you're going to a matinee in Dun Laoghaire that you sneak up on Little Billy and throw a sack over his head then run past Tuthill's like a child snatching Santa Claus. It'll be easier for everyone, otherwise, and take it from me, you'll never hear the end of his wailing and moaning about Garfield.
Dalkey News
As newsagents come... This place is great. Friendly staff always there to greet you :-)…read more Great shop on the Main Street, it's perfectly stocked with all the on-the-go stuff you need... Whether it be drinks, sweets, crisps to satisfy or you need some practical stuff like magazines, books, stationary supplies, greeting cards, wrapping paper, etc. Also as a newsagents they stock smokes, cigars plus national lottery ticket sales. Why 5 stars for a newsagents? I often take my niece and nephew overnight and the following morning if they've been good, whilst out and about we always finish up here and they pick out something from the little toy/gift area (wins me some awesome auntie points), the staff are always so friendly with the kids and patient. The kids like to pay the man by themselves and I love that they never rush the kids, they often comment on their toy and share a smile so this, ye know what, is just so hard to come by these days. Just another shop in our small village working hard to keep up community spirit :-)

With the wide range of glossy fashion/lifestyle magazines you'll find at the local newsagent, why…read moreshould you pay for Image? Well, if you're not much for glamour-shopping and stylish ladies, maybe you shouldn't. And if you are hooked on beauty-tips and celeb-secrets there are better magazines on the shelves. Image is no W or Vogue but for an Irish fashion mag it's a pretty good one, and useful for the season fashion trends, that is, if you are the kind of girl who cares what's "in" or "out". I'm not a huge fan but I do like to browse through Image, mostly for their editorials. Each issue features amazing state-of-the-art photo spreads shot and produced by Ireland's top fashion photographers, make-up artists and stylists. Fab! I pick it up every time at the shop just to take a look at the gorgeous pics (never feel the need to buy it though).

Pretty run of the mill news agents but with added weather sensitive features…read more If it's raining you can use it as a shortcut between Georges street and Bloomfields, as this corridor of a shop has entrances on both. And in the highly unlikely event that it's sunny you can get ice cream! Though some hardliner's may question the point in getting ice cream from Dun Laoghaire that isn't Teddy's. I see where their coming from, even though Teddy's is a twenty minute walk away. Plus a further twenty minutes queuing. By which time it'll probably have started raining.
