This is definitely a much better class of Wetherspoon's pub than I am used to in Leeds. The large out door seating area, that although is busy and by a road is still a pleasant place to sit and is somewhat of a sun trap. Inside is very spacious too but I think the seating and labels are a little too close together making you having to navigate around them even when the pub isn't busy. I saw lots of people eating and the food looked very standard Wetherspoons food. It all smelled lovely and people were tucking in as they talked. I only had time for 1 drink and seeing as it was a lovely sunny day I bought a pint of John Smith's Extra Smooth and headed back out to the benches and tables outside. I had forgot to wait for my change. The barman caught me up outside and remarked it would be an expensive at £5. He was very pleasant indeed and even addressed me as "Sir" which completely caught me off guard. This pub is full of people both young and not so young which I think makes for a very pleasant atmosphere. Now I have family in Pudsey I will definitely be calling in here again.

(wasn't that Peru? no, perhaps that was a different bear) Pie eating competition between three men and one dog (the dog won by 57seconds) The longest sandwich some gypsies touting ghost rides and pink candyfloss A parade through town that had two royal mail vans. The whole evening was strange. We needed a drink Preferably in a pub that had a beer garden of sorts as we had Merlot (the dog). Okay the crossed shuttle with it's tables out the front should be fine.... if we can clear some of the fag butts off the table and the mountains of empty pint pots, we might well be able to have a quick one and hopefully Merlot wont get filthy sitting on the vile, stale beer stinking paving stones. Checked with the bouncers that they didn't let dogs in and that it's fine for us to sit outside (Note the Original Oak and their MASSIVE beer garden!!). okay. cool. However, whilst procrastinating about whom was going to go in to order, the bouncer came over and apologised that we would have to leave as apparently the manager didn't want dogs (bear in mind he is an English Setter and was on the lead) in their "beer garden" as "people might complain about a dog being there and it gives the wrong impression about the pub". what? that it's NOT full of oiks and drunks? curious. Although we didn't even go inside and the bouncer was in fact quite nice, frankly, don't waste your money on this hell hole. Avoid

I was a bit dubious of the Masons Arms, I must say, and for more than one reason. The most glaring reason was the name, 'masons'; it's not a great thing to associate a place of sociability with a secretive and somewhat elusive band of people - whether you see them as highly suspicious or simply outdated, it's not the most welcoming name for a pub in my opinion! Nonetheless, this shouldn't prevent one from enjoying a lovely pint! Although it's not exactly my style of pub the Masons Arms is perfectly adequate and serves as a reasonable drinking hole for many a customer. They serve all the usual drinks, lagers, beers, spirits, wines and Tetleys - as advertised by the huge banner on their front. They also have a disco every Thursday (random day, but hey) and a disco and kareoke night on Fridays and Saturdays. Happy hours are from 11-2pm Mon-Sun (not including Weds) and 11-3pm on a Wednesday. That's like, well early for me, but should you need to start early you know where to go!

Came for the first time recently, really enjoyed myself, moved to London now and no shortage of good indian restaurants down there but was thoroughly enjoyable meal. Was my Dad's birthday and the waiter was brilliant and made him feel very special. Would reccomend. read more

The menu is what you'd expect from a takeaway with a selection of curries, pizza and burgers as well as SFC and kebabs.

What I found pleasing was the lack of grease in my meal which is often associated with fish and chips; the prices were very reasonable too. There's always a queue which I think is a great sign and although they were busy on the evening I went, the staff, were very welcoming. My fish and chips tasted excellent and because of all of this I will be back! I can see why this fish shop has won awards. Keep up the great work!

Wetherby Whaler is a fish-and-chip restaurant and takeaway with six locations around Yorkshire…read more After hearing they offered gluten-free fish and chips, I decided to try out their Pudsey location and was reasonably impressed. The concept is a little different to the traditional British chippy, as they have two areas, a restaurant area and a takeout area, this is where things get a little confusing as despite coming from the same kitchen, the menu is slightly different in both areas. The main difference is to dine in, they serve fish, chips and a hot drink or cordial as a meal, rather than separately, I guess this is just to get the cost up to pay for the dining area and the wages of the waiters etc. I originally entered the restaurant area but was put off by the pricing, it would have cost almost £15 for my fish and chips, and then an extra £13 for the sausage, as it seemed it was impossible to order a sausage on its' own etc by the menu, meanwhile the takeout area would serve fish, chips and a sausage, for not much over £10. A much better deal! PRO TIP: There is a customer parking lot around the back of their building, order take out to customise your order to your liking (and save money) and eat it in the car. Gluten-free is available on a fresh, the staff were well trained to explain how their allergen processes work, and they explained that despite using a separate frier, they can not 100% guarantee due to gluten being handled in the environment, they also explained the sides I could and could not have such as the curry sauce being made without gluten, but as it is made off-site, they would not advise me to have it, as again it would be possible to have been contaminated. The staff also seemed friendly, in letting me borrow a knife and fork, so I could eat the food in my car. Extra touches to minimise cross-contamination included the kitchen applying salt (gluten-free vinegar also an option) for me, to avoid using the communal one which the regular customers would use. My food was pretty good, while not the best fish and chips I've certainly had, it was a great value and tasty meal, the batter was crispy, and the sausage was particularly good, I would have preferred cod to haddock but again the quality was good, and it was hot and fresh, without being too greasy. Friendly staff, good prices in the takeout area, some improvements to be made sure, but I would return. 4*

A wonderful alcohol menu paired with rotating pizzas named after people and sorts, the evening turned out perfectly. Great quality food, but a bit pricey. If it's busy, expect service to be a bit slow. But you could also order your own drinks at the bar.

It's a small pub but very cosy and full of character. The landlords are extremely welcoming and all the staff are friendly and knowledgable, more than happy to offer their advice and samples of beer if you can't decide what to go for. You certainly won't find any of your mainstream lagers or bitters here (thank goodness) but instead there is an ever-changing array of craft and real ales from breweries such as Brew Dog and Magic Rock, as well as an increasing number of their own very excellent brews. If you're a real beer lover and looking for a great pub to sample some top ales over a chat with your mates (it's strictly no music) then make sure you pay Blind Jack's a visit. Warning, it can get very busy!

But the main one which I really can't go without visiting is Blind Jacks While Manchester isn't exactly short on quality pubs and craft beer, Blind Jacks offers something special which is easy to explain. A lovely, quaint, ancient building with loads of tiny rooms making it the perfect place to hang out and relax - combined with a revolving selection of amazing craft beer on tap (as well as some great local breweries). Put it this way - just on this visit they had beers from Stone (Ruination), Oskar Blues, Ska (Modus Hoperandi) and Brewdog (Punk and Hoppy Xmas) Paul and Debbie the landlords are always very friendly and up for a chat, as are the team of younger bar staff. You can always get a sample or recommendation, plus they brew their own beer out the back which all the staff seem to know about - their chalk board in the bar also has details of what they're brewing next so the regulars can keep up to date with what's next in the pipeline. Their milk stout and pumpkin head ones are firm favourites! Like them on Facebook for the latest updates on beers on tap, special nights (like their BBQ night in Jan) and all news going on. I may have just heard a rumour that they're opening up a distillery too so even if you don't live in Knaresborough it's worth making the trip here just to check out a great selection of drinks in great surroundings - you won't regret it!
