A group of 8 of us booked in advance for a Friday night and were seated downstairs, although I believe there is a function room upstairs also. The staff were all very friendly, despite our indicision when it came to ordering, and it almost seemed like they had a psychic link with our bellies when it came to timing of the food. Spot on! We each ordered a starter and duck pancakes to share. This was a mistake given the generous portion sizes but what a glorious mistake it was! I'm not normally a fan of duck pancakes but I ended up making 3 as they were so damn tasty. Hands down the best duck pancakes I have ever had. We all had a bit of a nibble of each others' food, as you do, and whilst my chicken katsu starter was nice and the sweet and sour chicken balls were very good, I think we all agreed the peking style ribs won hands down. Very very highly recommended! I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to manage my Kung Bo chicken and noodles after our hefty starters but it was seriously tasty so I managed about three quarters of it before admitting defeat (and I'm a Yorkshire lass so wasting food does not come naturally, I tell thee!). Lovely ambiance, excellent service, even better food. I will definitly be going back for some more peking ribs. To quote another member of our party "Nom, nom, nom... get in my belly!"... couldn't have put it better myself.

So move on to the Arch. It boasts an award winning chef so I'm always going to get a tad excited about weighing up their credentials. Maybe it's because I'm British and we like to knock down those who fly high but I must admit I couldn't really find any grumbles on this one. The starters are fine dining at its best without being overly pretentious. For the main I had a very nice risotto but you've got all the main players such as steak and fish. My only gripe is and this isn't exclusive to here, why call gravy jus? Come on people don't complicate the matter, it's gravy. Right rant over. As for deserts, the cheese board is excellent. You'll also get some local cheeses on the plate as well as French offerings. Three courses for just under £17 seems a fair price to me as well although you will pay supplements on that for some of the dishes. Good food and a hoorah from me.

Three courses will set you back £16.95 with two courses costing £14.50 with a two pound supplement on Saturday and because I am feeling pleasant today I am not going to go on a tirade about that. Book in advance for a special occasion.

After a bad experience with a Spanish waiter and some over zealous chilli appliance it's some Cantonese for me. The North Sea Chinese Restaurant is a good place for some serious chow down time. The venue itself is a pleasant affair and is done without actually blowing your socks off but it's clean and pleasant. The food is where it's at. Massive choice and big portions. Now we're onto something. There are loads of soups to kick start you off. I like the sour and chilli number myself and then its name your meat of choice (or vegetable though don't be aggressive with that carrot) and then whatever delicious sauce or style you want. The set menu is a good plan although be prepared to eat a feast. It's not the cheapest Chinese around but it is certainly a tasty one. One tip though. I personally would avoid the tribute nights. It's busy and loud and not my thing at all

The food is all freshly prepared and tastes great. I Have been going here for the past 5/6 years and the food is always brilliant. I've never had a bad dish. The prices aren't cheap but it's worth it with how well prepared and fresh all the food is. We tend to takeaway but when we do eat in the staff are all very friendly and the atmosphere is good. Well worth a visit!
