I got a gift certificate for a Christmas for a Swedish Massage. Wowza! It definitely said on the certificate that it was a gift from Santa, which was cute (That's partially my Mom's doing.. we are super traditional.. and kind of never grow up when it comes to Christmas.) I've probably had like other 3 massages in my 29 years and the last one was probably about 7 or 8 years ago, so this was a treat. (Since this was a gift, I unfortunately can't comment on price.) Swedish massages, I read, are considered "classic" style massage, and include five different strokes. The facility is not a typical spa, but more like a doctor's office without a receptionist's desk. Do note that it's not an obvious spot. It's not at a traffic light, and there are no prominent signs that stick out. It looks like a small business park, next to the CVS entrance. Shawn is the owner and masseuse, and is super nice. Let's be honest, a massage from any [licensed] stranger can be awkward and a little anxiety-inducing. However, before the massage began, he explained that I could take as many or as few layers off, and at no time will I be uncovered inappropriately. He reminded me that I'm the boss, and if muscle was pushed too hard or tickled or anything that I should speak up. I know this all sounds kinda "That's What She Said" but try not to think about it that way, perv. :) The massage room is very calming: smells good - like lavender, low instrumental music, soft lighting.. The massage table is comfortable. Your face goes in the circular "face-holder"(?!) thing and you just kinda start to release tension. I had an hour, but it felt like 2 or 3 hours. I got into such a "zone" that later I thought to myself, I wonder if that's what it's like to be hypnotized. Strange things, like random things I had to do, or had been thinking about, were going through my mind but in such a calm, engulfing way. I promise, I was totally sober. This was a REAL GOOD MASSAGE!! When he got to my arms, I was still a bit zoned and could tell I was letting my extremities be just like dead weights. I was sunk into the table and so comfortable. Anyway, when it was complete, Shawn said for me to "come back" like, to life :) "but take as long as you need." He left the room. I really didn't want to get up, but after a minute or two, I made my way up and out. It was really nice to not have to rush out. I felt a bit drained, and wondered if that was the "toxins" moving around after hopefully being released from my body. The feeling was similar to that of a day laying out in the sun. You feel good and refreshed, but drained. Be warned though if you do get in that zone, give yourself a little time to sit in your car maybe - or have someone drive or pick you up. I felt like I was driving a little bit out of it still. I would definitely go back .. I can't think of any reason why East Cobb Massage doesn't deserve 5 stars! read more

Cannot more highly recommend this place for a massage. I have had many massages, and Shawn gave me one of the best I've ever had. Due to work and life-related stress, I had been feeling so tight in my shoulders that I was having trouble sleeping. Shawn did exactly what I asked for (upper body deep tissue massage) and I immediately experienced an easing of the tension that continued to improve over the next couple of days. He was also able to get a terrible knot I had in my lower back to release that other massage therapists have failed with. Shawn is incredibly professional, very knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I will definitely be going back to see him regularly. The place is a little hidden (have to go around the back of the building to find the suite) so go early your first time to find it. read more

I have been going here for the past 6 months due to pretty severe upper back pain. When I inititially came in, I had fairly low expectations because it is rare to go to a massage therapist that's really good. Where you actually feel the effects of it afterward. I walked out feeling completely loosened up (and my back was in BAD shape). Shawn (the owner) was there and offered me a deal to buy 6 up front at a very discounted rate. Unlike massage envy, you can transfer them to anyone or use them any time. You also don't pay a fee up front- just for the actual massages. I've been going to Isabella for some time now and she always is extremely thorough, has great massage therapy "bedside" manner and will work with you to go as gentle or deep as you need. If I could go weekly I would. 5 stars all around from me on this business read more

THE place to go! Shawn is extremely friendly, down to earth, accommodating, and professional. He does a great job of keeping you informed of what he's doing. He is knowledgeable and adapts to your needs for your appointment. (Different strokes for different folks!)
