While they are highly effective at fundraising, maintaining this place as a true house of worship--dedicated to Allah for the sake of Allah and reflecting the true spirit of Islam--is something I have not witnessed over the past 10 years of praying here. Recently, I have chosen to perform my prayers in different places rather than at this masjid. In my experience, this has become more of a place of business than a house of Allah. A house of Allah should not be in such a state. At the same time, I find this situation unsurprising, as much of the management comes from Pakistan and India, where there appears to be a tendency to evaluate everything in monetary terms relative to their home countries' currencies. This reflects, in my view, a mindset that prioritizes financial considerations over spiritual responsibility.

There is a huge crowd for Friday prayers so they offer two Jummah timings which is great. The only drawback is that the parking lot doesn't have the capacity to hold the number of cars, especially for the first Jummah prayer but they might extend the parking lot soon to accommodate everyone.

Its very intimidating to explore other cultures because you know nothing about it. The fear that you will dress inappropriately, overstep boundaries, say the wrong thing or disrespect something very sacred keeps you from going. I have to admit, our anxiety was over the top but we sincerely wanted to learn, so we pushed through the anxiety and went to this event. The temple itself is a beautiful masterpiece no matter what part you visit. The energy is positive, healthy and peaceful. From the moment we walked up, they were welcoming and kind to us, and for that reason that made this an amazing experience!! Many different people throughout the evening was happy to tell us where to go, what was going on, how to participate, what was appropriate and respectful. We learned the meaning behind the Navratri celebration, as well as the deities in the shrine, the rituals, food, traditional dresses, and cultural dances. One volunteer stayed with us the whole time, beaming with pride, so excited to share her culture with us. We are very grateful for her time. The opportunity to be invited in and encouraged to return was humbling. We plan to go back and enjoy more events.

If you dont like how it looks, rather than criticize it, donate and contribute to it. Join the community and become an asset. Establish an economic branch among the men, or committee that can make upgrades to the landscape and amenities. There is currently an effort to build a nee Mosque on the same grounds. Although address remains the same on the website, the service is actually held in the building directly opposite to where the gps will take you. It's a pink building with a huge parking lot and a gate. I got to the masjid about 10:50 because the service time was listed as 11am, but it actually doesn't start till like 11:45 am. Expect some 'African time' We were handed prayer books so it makes it easy to follow the recitation especially if you don't know the words. There's a kid's room which is great because it allows their parents to focus on the service. The service is done in both Yoruba and English. Food, snacks and water were also handed out after Zuhr prayers. I recommend coming to this masjid especially if you're looking for a sense of togetherness. They make everyone feel welcomed
