Lovely and well-maintained park. As of May 2026, the northern section of the park is closed for renovations. The recently renovated southern section looks great! Lots of benches and neat space offering some amazing views of the Williamsburg Bridge and Brooklyn. There is an overpass from Delancey Street that crosses over FDR to gain access. read more

When it's not under major construction as has been going on forever now and won't be completed until probably 2027 the East River Park is a terrific place to get in a run, walk, fish, relax, and participate in athletics. I've done many runs down to this park which features a really nice running track where I've put in a lot training miles. The esplanade here is a scenic path along the East River and stretches down past the Williamsburg Bridge. Great waterside views to take in during a run. What's nice is that it's more of a locals park area as compared to the West Side Park and Chelsea Piers pathway area where you'll find more tourists and crowds to navigate around during a run. read more

I love coming to the East River Park for some of my runs and I do appreciate that it's not as crowded as the west side. I love that the park offers a beautiful view of the Williamsburg bridge and parts of the Williamsburg skyline and it's a nice escape from the busy city. There are some parts of the park that are closed off due to construction but there's still about a 5 mile "loop" from Houston to E 38th if you want to walk/run along the river. There are some temporary porta potties near the track since the bathrooms are closed off and a couple of water fountains available if you're feeling a little parched. Overall, it's a great place for a scenic stroll and I'm glad that we have access to the park despite the construction! read more

I've lived in NYC my entire life, and have only now discovered this gem! The East River Park has beautiful views of Williamsburg and LIC. Who knew watching the NYC ferries go back and forth could be so relaxing! To my surprise, there wasn't a lot of people out on a Saturday. In a Covid world, this is absolutely amazing! Of course you have the occasional people who don't wear masks, but for the most part the park was pretty empty and we got to enjoy the space! read more

I stopped by here after work today as I was feeling the call of the water. As a Pisces, it calls me from time to time. Something about hearing and seeing the movement of the ocean (yes I know it's the east river but it's all connected!) brings me back to center. I walked over from the 10th street overpass and found myself a nice empty park bench with the perfect view of the Williamsburg bridge and Queens. At the same time, there was a softball game happening amongst the Julliard intramural softball team. They weren't that good but it's the effort that counts! This was my first time at this park and while it was buggy (to be expected this time of year), I definitely would return when I find myself in the area. Not to be confused with Beast River Park, which is named after me right after I get out of the gym. It's hard not to love East River Park, and it has a nice path along the river and goes past the Williamsburg Bridge. It's basically the tiny green belt on the east side of Manhattan Island, lower east side of course, and any greenery the concrete jungle of Manhattan is always a good thing. I'm definitely a fan. My sort of girlfriend in East Village jogs here and I've joined her at least half a dozen times now although I hate jogging. I'm going to take Barbi jogging here one of these days. They do have a running track here as well which as others have said is not so obvious that masses of people use it which is cool. Anyway this review is over so jog on. read more

This park is definitely not obvious nor easy to find. It is okay in terms of upkeep ( not a battery park city haha). But it is still a good park. There is a water view :) and a lot of joggers. Parking is the other side of overpass... Sprinklers for kids so it is fine. Grass for picnic and nearby baseball field. Wish their bathrooms was a bit nicer (no seats...weird). read more

3.5 stars. A beautiful park with incredible potential but not kept as it should be. Stunning views of the East River, coupled with lots of options to stay active. The baseball/softball fields could be maintained more regularly, but the turf field is great. Not necessarily a romantic spot (noisy, not very clean, borderline sketchy at times), but still a great option if you are in the area (not much else of this size around). read more

Wow I have lived in New York for some time now and I can't believe I never made it here, until today. I love that there is always something new to explore here. I started at the lowest point of the park and ran up close to 42nd St. Not sure if it is still East River Park once you get past 30th St. though. Who knew there is a British International School around 30th St.? OK, I digress. The park rides parallel to the FDR and has breathtaking views of the East River. A nice distraction while you huff and puff away. Tons of running tracks embedded within the park. Just keep running and you'll find a track to loop around. There are also plenty of seats so if you get tired or need to stretch, you can take a break. Also I saw many water fountains, but not sure if they have been turned on yet. There are tons of runners here, so you can wave at them, give them high 5's or just ogle all the nice legs passing you by. I'm not a pervert seriously, but when you are running, your brain tends to focus on everything to distract you from the physical work. I definitely enjoyed the run and glad it's pretty close to the new 'hood. I can run either direction along the East River and find solace in a breathtaking run. I love you NYC. I see why people pay ridiculous amounts of money for rent just to be here. After all, how great is it to finish your run and see the Statue of Liberty in your horizon? There's no place like home. read more

I've got mad love for this park. It has something for everyone. I'm talking swings for the kiddies, Smorgasburg for the foodie, a track, soccer field, basketball courts for the athletes, benches and a bathrooms for the overfilled and a breathtaking view of the city and its various bridges for the, I don't know, whatever you call the people that are into that kind of thing. While the park isn' the prettiest I've seen (the grass is maintained but chunked up which brings down the aesthetics a bit and the soccer turf looks like its been around the block a few times) its location makes it hard to top. read more

Walk to the ends of the earth via 6th st, through a housing project, over a green bridge across the FDR, through a clearing in the woods, and you will come across a full-sized soccer field surrounded by a decent track. Aluminum chairs and tables line an elegant path with a scenic view. Incredible place to check out the Annual July 4 fireworks. Just make sure you get here early to get a good spot. Getting here is easy. You can walk along the river or come crosstown from the subway. Getting out after the fireworks are over? A completely different story. There was basically a single file line for millions of people to shuffle through. You can fill in the blanks. read more

This is a nice park. I went for a Fourth of July bbq. (Before the fireworks were moved to the west side...)The park was PACKED by 1 PM when we arrived. The walk across the bridge at E 10th is no joke. We had some nice people help us with our things. Thankfully my friend purchased a permit ($25 from the Parks Department) and we had the parks workers help us locate our area. Some people were in our spot but they were very gracious about moving and helping us to bring our things over. Some things to know: -A permit is a good idea especially on days that are hot, hot, hot (ie: holidays) -The walking bridge is no joke! Make good decisions about what to bring and what to leave behind! -The park has in ground bbq grills. Bring foil and some oven mitts! They get super hot! -The bathroom is a bit of a walk from the picnic tables (pack a little tissue for your tinkle) -There are bball courts, a walking/biking/running path, etc. Softball/baseball park is available as well! -Close to the FDR but not so close to public transportation. -The park is near a project, but the people are friendly and nice. No need to be afraid! The views of the East River are so nice. Definitely will be back! read more

So lets start by saying that I am addicted to checking in and I'm a little upset that I didn't check in yesterday when 3 friends and I hosted out first annual bbq at the park. I am a fan of this park because it is near the water and has nice running areas, well kept recreational areas and just awesome cause its near the water!! So, I was a little skeptical of hosting the bbq here because the projects were across the street and I did not wnat to get into any beef with anyone but we agreed and we are happy that we did. Some of the people were nice and we had one snafu with a very angry mother but overall this first annual bbq was the best. I must explore the rest of the park though because having walked it for 10 blocks I was amazed by all it had to offer! read more

Tennis and track and softball, oh my! This is a great place to get your fitness on. Running along the river is peaceful. The views of Brooklyn and the Williamsburg Bridge is lovely. So many active bodies all around. It really inspires me to stop looking around and actually break a sweat. Definitely enjoy this park during the daylight hours. Don't know if I'd venture to this park at night, though. read more

I love this park for walking dogs, and have been to several events here. There's an amphitheater that's great for outdoor events and shows, although they have to put out Port-o-Sans if they expect any kind of number of people to show up. Today I came out with a friend and we played our trumpet and flugelhorn by the river; we decided we were going to form a duo and busk on the street to make some money. (Yeah!) There's sort of a dog run here, but it's not fenced off, so really...not. (Called the "6th Street Dance Circle," it's kind of an afterthought.) read more

Who doesn't love a scenic bike/running/walking path made just for the pedestrian/non-drivers? I'm a huge fan of this path since it starts around 35th and runs all the way down to Brooklyn Bridge. I would estimate it's about 5 miles each direction which is a decent length of path for even the long runner. On this route you can run under the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges which is quite fantastic and it's extremely scenic the entire route since it's right along the water. There's views galore and I can't help but stop for some photo ops along the way. BRING YOUR CAMERA! For those who have run along the Hudson, you don't get the sunset but you do separate away from the roads and more parks along the way for baseball, soccer, basketball, football, track training... There are lots of options. Plus, there's benches, tables and BBQ pits if you want to just stop at a specific destination. I'm a fan! read more

My childhood friend, this park was across the street from my house growing up and I could see it, the williamsburg bridge and other things out my window. Well there has to be a reason for such enormous rent in the city. Like one doesn't have to add gym membership to the budget.Well if I go to the gym my mediocre routine consists of treadmill and ab work. So why not to do it outside? Unless you're stuck in midtown there are so many public parks that it's a shame to lock yourself in some sweaty facilities. East River park has so much to offer! You can play basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis (used the courts twice since my game is lame), take your dog on a gambol. And there is a track field. 4 laps is a mile (easy for counting a mileage) and your knees will thank you later - or at least wouldn't painfully scream at you. While doing laps you get to see soccer, football (mmmm), gazelle-looking NYU athletes. My favorite was the guy doing hurdles. To save the track surface there are no vehicles allowed so when it snows you gotta wait till it melts and then there might be some puddles due to incline. That's when you can jog along the stretch from east 37th (that's where the path ends) all the way down to the south seaport and enjoy the view of three bridges. Oh and there are three clean restrooms. read more

The views are beautiful here. There isn't a lot of light here at night which is when I've been running lately. Lots of benches! However, there tends to be a lot of homeless in the mornings and a lot of trash is left behind, especially along the edge of the park. Please pick up your trash to keep parks clean! :) read more

I love it here! Although the view isn't superb (there's not really much to look at), it's peaceful to chill along the water. There are many joggers and dog walkers (and dogs), and it's in general a nice place. There are lots of benches scattered along the path as well, so you can sit at your leisure. Jog east from Union Square, use the footbridge at 25th street, and jog down along the east river. With all the high rises going up in williamsburg it's less industrial and more view... make your way down to 6th street and you're dead center in the middle of the Lower East Side's best kept secret. I'm almost afraid to yelp about it. On any given day you'll find me somewhere around here, 3pm 4pm or 5pm I usually make it by then. What does it have to offer? From 25th street to Battery Park you get six miles (count 'em SIX miles) of uninterrupted running, plenty of tree coverage, and a few water fountains along the way. At sixth street you'll find the entrance to the 400m track, which is in pretty good condition, plus a full size soccer field. Even a long jump track. At the southern end of the track (enter from outside) you'll find a really good outdoor gym, what I like to call the thug gym. All the tough guys are here, doing pullups, pushups, parallel bars, situps etc. The area is covered by cushioned surface too so go ahead and do some handstands too! There are also bathrooms at sixth street. The crosswalks are at 25th, 20th, 18th, 10th, 6th, Houston, Delancey, and Grand. Further down you're under the FDR Drive highway, so there are lots more street crossings... I recommend this park if you haven't been here. It's starting to get a lot more traffic, so it's even pretty safe at night. On the hot sunny days, this East side is 10x better than the Hudson River Park because you're not in direct sunlight. I used to come here regularly when I was younger. . It's been over 10 years but I finally made it back. I decided to start the couch to 5k program and could not think of a better place to train than East River Park. The park runs along the FDR and provides an awesome view of the East River and BMW bridges. I haven't run since high school so training has been brutal but the lovely views are definitely welcome as I find anything and everything to focus on other than my heartbeat in my throat and burning thighs. There is also a track, soccer field, kids playground, tennis and basketball courts and padded outdoor area where I see guys doing body weight exercises on the bars. Plenty of benches and a restroom area on 6th St. Whether you want to get your sweat on or just go for a scenic stroll, East River Park is the place to be. read more

I love the path along the east river. It is continuous from 23rd street going down and loops all the way around the tip of Manhattan over to the Hudson side. But I want to divide it into chunks because each section is so uniquely itself and unlike the rest - kind of like the city itself. From around 23rd st - 12th st, it is a winding brick path complete with lampposts, benches, and planted shrubbery along the side. I think it's called Stuyvesant Park. From 12th st until all the way past the Williamsburg bridge, it is a combination of cement/dirt path. You pass along your way a sizable running track, tennis courts, basketball courts, children's playground, baseball field, and I think there's even an old volleyball court. Not to mention views of Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge along the way. A bit after the Williamsburg bridge, the scene is a little more industrialized, and then you will find yourself directly underneath the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. If you're a morning jogger, the scene here is beautiful - the city is relatively quiet, the traffic's light, and the horizon's a nice golden hue. What a great way to start your day. read more

On an unseasonably warm day in early May, I decided to check out the East River Park. Long story short, it's not as nice as its crosstown rival, but it's worth a visit. I began my journey at the Brooklyn Bridge. That is a beautfiul bridge (though it's currently under construction. Seeing it covered in tarp is so depressing). I then walked north. I saw some elderly Asian guys fishing (you couldn't pay me one million dollars to eat anything that came out of the East River). I passed by the Manhattan Bridge, which is another amazing bridge. I continued to walk underneath the elevated FDR Drive. A few blocks away were a bunch of baseball and soccer fields. There was also a bike/running path that looked like it was new. The Williamsburg Bridge was visible at this point. It's not quite as attractive as the Brooklyn Bridge, but since lots of sexy female hipsters use it, I like it. Some people have commented about rowdy kids in the park. I won't disagree with them. They like to congregate near the benches. Their favorite word is a disgusting word that begins with "N" and ends with "R". However, they mostly keep to themselves. Furthermore, it's unlikely that you'll get mugged in broad daylight. Around the Con Ed plant at 14th Street, the path becomes ridiculously narrow for a 5 block stretch. 23rd Street is an excellent spot to take a picture of the Empire State Building. Unfortunately, the path starts to split around there. It is interrupted by a gas station, parking lot, and residential building. It abruptly ends at 37th Street. I wish the path was a continuous path from the South Street Seaport to Harlem, but it is what it is. They should also add some concession stands. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my visit. read more

This is a review of the full size soccer field (surrounded by the track) at East River Park. This is one of the worst soccer fields in America. It's an old artificial turf field that has never been maintained, updated, repaired, or replaced. Every 5 feet is torn up and exposed. You can easily hurt yourself running around. There are no security cameras or personnel here and thefts occur daily. This field is a total embarrassment to the city of New York. It's a blight on the city. Who knows where all the tax and permit dollars go? Obviously not here. Mayor de Blasio and Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver need to get their act together and overhaul this field/park immediately!!! read more

Even parks along rivers gentrify. There are some tennis courts, basketball courts, a running track, soccer field, some playgrounds, and a few other self-contained recreational areas. I don't know how long those have been around, but I can say the other bit of the park -- the pathway that goes all the way down to the South Street Seaport, is in the midst of construction and has become way nicer. I use this park to run along the river on nice days, and whereas I used to run on that annoying 'road' in the park near a) the highway b) stupid teenagers c) annoying drivers (construction workers? park maintenance people?), now I can run along the river on a nice new path they created, view beautiful(ISH!) Williamsburg, the Manhattan, Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges, and smell the river breeze. That last part -- the breeze -- well that's a mixed blessing depending on what odor the river is deciding to put out that day, but that's a different story. In short, it's no Hudson River path, but it has a hell of a lot less people on it, and quite frankly it's a gem. "Great, what time should I start my run," is the first thought I have when I hear it's going to be a warm, sunny day. read more

LOVE this park. Now, I do think the west side has the east side beat in terms of being bigger and prettier but I prefer the view of the East River and of Brooklyn and Queens ANY day than having to face Jersey. I got mad love for Jersey, don't get me wrong but I love seeing the Queensboro Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges on my walks and bike ride. I just appreciate it much more. It's nastier, grittier, some parts or under construction but I just love the east side of Manhattan a lot more. Plain and simply I have more memories at this place. I've seen the improvements along the years and it amazes me how far the ERP has come. This park starts from way East on 23rd AAaaaallll the way down to the tip of Manhattan. Along your run, walk, bike, crawl, roll you'll get a good view of Queens and BK going south. You'll pass by the Con Edison building and from there on you'll be passing by the more active areas of the East River. Soccer, calisthenics outdoor gym, football, baseball, concert, playgrounds, basketball, the 3 bridges along the way, whatever. It's there, it's popping, its going down. This is not the prettiest park, along the way you WILL encounter bums (especially at night) and it can be sketchy (especially at night) so approach with caution. The projects along the Lower East Side are nearby, then there's the projects in Chinatown, you'll be running underneath the two bridges area which is quite dingy and nasty. At the same time, you'll encounter all sorts of interesting people, see interesting things going down, and its always close to so many happening spots. This place just has a feel and charm that I love compared to the Piers on the west. East side is the beast side babaaay!! read more

I've been using this park for almost 8 years and it's great to see the transformation. The track is nice and so is the field in the middle. The parks department ought to maintain the field better since there are patches of it loosening. So, there's a soccer field, track and workout station for pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. Bathrooms are maintained well and it's good. Water fountains are available too. Enter from East 6th bridge or cross East Houston. read more

There are multiple fields here for soccer, baseball, courts for basketball, grills, and outdoor workout section with pull-up bars. You can get here easily by taking 6th street all the way east and 10th street. There is always a breeze right by the water and it's perfect for running or riding bikes. I go to the basketball courts because they're usually open. I think it's relaxing and you have a great view of the Williamsburg bridge and Brooklyn. I haven't used the bathrooms here - so can't give advice in that. read more

The field was empty, even though the weather was warm and there was a sea-river breeze blowing off the East River. We were at field (lucky) number seven for practice, because well, most of us needed it. Hell, I needed it. I am pretty ridiculous in my jersey. But the field we played on is the focus. It had this worn in feel that wasn't gross like Randall's Island, but lived in. There was a comfort playing out there, like we weren't being judged (unlike on the pristine greens of the North Meadow fields in Central Park) and we could make our mistakes, and I could run like a girl without feeling self conscious. If I could play every season game with my mickey mouse softball team here, I would gladly do so. I'm a fan. read more
