This is one of those spots you either randomly stumble on while walking around the city or you've seen all over TikTok and decided to go out of your way to check it out. Either way, it's such a unique little escape right in the middle of the chaos of New York. The east side of Manhattan can feel kind of sterile with not much to do, so this is a really nice change of pace. The waterfall alone makes it worth it--the sound is super calming, and it honestly doesn't even feel like you're in the city for a second. You'll see people posted up working on laptops, just hanging out, or catching up with friends. There's also plenty of seating, which is a huge plus--tables, long benches, all of that. I grabbed a mango smoothie from the small café inside the park and it was actually really good. Definitely a solid spot to just chill for a bit. read more

Delightful little oasis of a park on 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. There's a pretty big waterfall here with chairs and some tables too. Get a pic right in front of the rushing water . I was here in mid May and it was open . I'm assuming in winter that the waterfall is not on . Many people having their lunch here or just hanging out in a quiet and relaxing spot. I found an oasis on the East side of Manhattan and it's called, Greenacre Park. If you're not looking for it, you might walk right past it. Whoever designed this park was a genius. As you walk in, you'll see the cascading water at the rear. It has lots of seating, encompassing different themes. If you want to be under a trellis, there are seats. If you want to sit directly in front of the water, there are seats, and benches. If you want to be under trees and nice landscaping, there are seats. They even designed a babbling brook, on the right side of the park, that relaxes you as you take in its view. I noticed, that they also have a small café, on site. It was closed when I visited, but that's another caveat that adds to the many reasons to experience this park. read more

It's a nice little park I stumbled upon one afternoon tucked away in midtown on 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. There are three levels with seating, beautiful landscaping, and a small food stand during nicer days. The main feature here is the 25 foot cascading waterfall. Greenacre Park popped up as a hidden gem in NYC for me so I added it to my NYC bucket list of things to do when visiting. On this particular HOT weekday, we happened to be in the vicinity and I'm always looking for a little adventure. Seeking a bit of shade to cool off and a little bit of time before our Maybe Happy Ending broadway show, we decided to see if this little park lived up to the hype. As we approached, we had significant doubts that vanished once we stepped in. We immediately heard the waterfall. The stream of trickling water led us right to our destination. As we got closer, it drew us in with available seats clearly calling our names. We sat down and stayed to recharge, cool off and just enjoy our surroundings! This park is free and was busy but not crowded like you would think it could be. It's also clean with no litter or bad odors. If you are looking to bring food to sit and eat you can or if you want to eat there, you can dine at Carol's cafe that is adjacent to the park. There are tables and chairs for you to sit and stay for a while. We sat, we stayed and loved every moment. *Note, this gets the five star ratings because I LOVE waterfalls! read more

What a fantastic little part is situated in East midtown on 51st Street. This park was funded by one of the Rockefellers and is open to all New Yorkers. It's a very Serene setting to have a light breakfast for lunch during the day. There's a little cafe situated there that serves breakfast and lunch faire. It is truly Zen in the city. read more

As much as I like hitting up food spots when visiting NYC, my favorite places to check out are actually tiny parks scattered in the area like this one. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and even the waterfall here was built with the intent of drowning out the sounds of traffic and construction. Zen vibes in this park for sure. Very well-kept too with fine detail to the landscaping (on the left there's a raised terrace with additional seating and on the right there's a man-made brook leading to the waterfall). One of my favorite small parks (if not my favorite one) in NYC! *As an extra tidbit, one of my favorite bakeries in NYC, Eclair Bakery, is within short walking distance. An absolute hidden gem of a pocket park on 51st. Privately owned, but available to the public, it's tucked away from the hustle of 3rd Avenue. So quiet that I almost don't want to post a review and attract more attention to it. We snuck over here with our bagels as anyone who has ever been to Ess-a-Bagel knows it's nearly impossible to get a table, plus it's noisy and you always feel rushed. It was a miserable rainy morning and we were very pleased to find a covered area and were the only ones in the park for most of our time there. "A private space for public enjoyment" is the perfect description by one of the signs at the entrance. This plot is so tranquil off of 51st St (not too busy for Manhattan). You can buy snacks from the cafe stand or bring your own entertainment. Tables are available in the shade, not in the shade, down by the waterfall. This is an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle that is Manhattan (not counting Central Park). I almost don't want to write this review as I don't want this place to get too crowded. I stumbled upon this spot on a weekday evening and wandered in as I was mesmerized by the giant manmade waterfall that is nestled inside this quaint little park. There are seats and tables scattered all over and the best part is that it's mostly shaded (well during the time I went) so it was so relaxing to just sit there and read while listening to the sounds of the waterfall. There's also a small kiosk at the entrance that sells food but I think it closes at 5. This is a great spot to just take a break from walking and the summer heat. read more

A cute hidden gem in Midtown East - a 25 ft waterfall in the middle of Midtown! Apparently it has been here for decades and was supported by the Rockefeller family back in the day. It was bustling on a weekday late afternoon when I came to take a stroll after lunch. The man made waterfall and the greenery made for an awesome green escape from the towering skyscrapers nearby. Every time I visit NYC, I like to spend time checking out new (to me) parks. On this trip, I found a couple that had waterfalls which seemed unique for a city. It's a very small park, but it's cute. The waterfall adds a nice element to it. There isn't really grass or anything here, but there are plenty of trees so it's nicely shaded. It's also close to Paley Park so you can check out two parks with waterfalls at one time. I'm not sure I'd add it as a must visit, but it would be a nice spot to eat lunch. read more

This is a private park but the public can visit. It's beautiful, quiet and simply peaceful. I love it here.

Ahhhh, this place might be my favorite spot in the whole city - secluded, green, rushing water, and space to sit down, talk, read, or just reflect quietly. My only gripe is that the seats, made out of some kind of hard wire, were incredibly uncomfortable, but I get that maybe they don't want to invest in too plush seating in case they get stolen or carried off. The best part of the park is without a doubt the waterfall which plucks you out of the crowded, stuffy, claustrophobic concrete jungle and leaves you feeling rejuvenated or serene. That waterfall is seriously like a cool, refreshing transfusion of good vibes. Like a really invigorating yoga session. Or sliding into clean sheets after having not slept for two days straight. I felt so content walking out of the park. There's a small nook inside the park that sells salads, sandwiches, coffee, and drinks but something even better would be to grab a bagel from Ess-A-Bagel a block over and bring it to the park with a good book. There's also several chairs, tables, and benches scattered about - on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the seating filled up quickly and people do tend to linger for obvious reasons. It seems like Manhattan's best kept secret is definitely getting out but I would love to come here again and again. read more
