I take both my kids there and I go there myself. Sometimes you have to wait, usually on weekends but most times you get your appointment time plus or minus 15 minutes. The doctors here, namely Dr Davis and Dr Williamson (daughter and mother respectively) are very good. They are personable, which is more than I can say for most and they remember you. I saw Dr Davis through both my pregnancies and before her I saw Dr Williamson. I can't speak highly enough of Dr Davis, neither can my kids. Best GP ever! Bonus - right next to it is the Taringa Day and Night Pharmacy!

This past weekend when my usual GP was unavailable, knowing the team at Taringa is only a short drive away was a god send during my current flu-state. Case in point on Sunday when my conditioned worsened and I was in need of a doctor appointment I went to Taringa. On a Sunday they don't take appointments and the wait time was about 45 minutes. And look - the service is a little impersonal but you can make concessions on this given the volume of people they'd see each day and when you're greeted by the pleasant surprise the Dr has bulk-billed you instead of charging the Sunday fee of $90, you're even more forgiving. All in all a reasonably fine medical practice that is a handy number to have up your sleeve.

All the doctors that have I have consulted have been very helpful and efficient; I know I can trust their judgement. The waiting time can be pretty average, usually I have waited about half an hour to be served, I consider this to be the norm. And now onto the only downside I can think of- it can be hard to make an appointment sometimes due to how popular tho place is. It is not often possible to see a doctor the day you call, I usually had to make an appointment for 2 or 3 days after the day I called them. This can be pretty annoying when you are suffering from tonsillitis and need Penicillin as soon as possible. Regardless of the negative points, Kenmore Family Medical Practice is a great GP to go to for your everyday medical concerns.

I dithered a bit as it's a fair drive (and growing up in Kenmore means trips back are fraught with remembered teenage angst) but as I finally need a proper doctor I thought I'd give it a crack. This little Surgery is a real gem. Handy parking out the back, friendly receptionist (decked out in a flashing light necklace due to Christmas) and lots of patients ranging from 8 mths old to 80. I was a little late, so I expected a quick check up and another appointment but Dr Peacock saw me for an hour! A WHOLE FRICKING HOUR! Unbelievable. I think this is probably what our parents used to experience, but I sure never thought I'd find it in my lifetime. And the best bit? Standard $60 out of pocket fee. My husband spends $60 to see the doctor around the corner for 15 minutes so I think I win. Now I just need to remember to leave early enough so I'm not late again!

Kempsie Road Medical Centre offers your basic General Practitioner's service for those unwanted non-emergencies, as well as a nurse on duty to take care of the even smaller things. Dr Satish Prasad is the doctor and he has over 20 years experience practicing as a medical practitioner and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, as the placards over the walls can attest to. Apparently he also speaks fluent Hindi. What I like about Kempsie Road Medical Centre is that it's still a new practice, and therefore has less patients. Appointments are easy to make; I've found I can usually get an appointment on the day I call (rather than waiting for weeks like you do at some places). Oh, and they bulk bill. Perfect for uni students.

One of the stand outs for us is that Dr. Prasad is awesome at giving injections, that is why he was a natural choice for us when it came to immunizations. It's nice to go to a Medical Centre where they treat you as an individual and not just another number. The personal service and the relationship with the patient is a cornerstone of this practice. I don't know if I do want to recommend it to anyone else, just in case too many people discover how great it is and then it becomes hard to get an appointment! I'm not one to enjoy trips to the doctor and like my Dad will generally put off a trip to the GP for as long as possible opting for "putting up with things" or self-diagnosing via good ol' Web MD. But sometimes you admit defeat and find yourself trundling to the waiting room. When I recently had to break up with my GP of some number of years, I booked an appointment with the team at Milton Clinic on the glowing recommendation of a friend. I'm happy with their service and as a general rule of thumb can book in for an appointment the day of calling and certainly no more than the following day. I'll also note I've rarely had to wait more than 5 minutes over my appointment time, and even that is a rarity. Generally if your appointment is 10am, you're sitting in front of your GP at 10am. They've been a great support through a few health issues including, last year, finally identifying my two-week zombie state as a robust case of Influenza when other Drs had told me I was fine and to "just rest". They make a trip to the GP fuss-free. Oh, bonus points because I can claim Medicare rebates on the spot.

Now it boasts double that amount. The growth of Milton clinic can be justified by the care and attention they give their patients. At no time ever have I felt I'm being rushed out the door or had a doctor unwilling to examine me because my problem was a little disgusting. I have however had to wait, on some occasions, well over thirty minutes past my appointment time to see a doctor. I would argue its because of the sheer amount of people who rely on their quality and caring services. At times where I have had an injury through sporting activities, this is the place I would go to hands down.

Whilst there are six other doctors in his practice, none of them seemed to have gained the notoriety that Bingham has, perhaps because he's an old collegiate himself, knows the ways of college life and loves to have a chat about it. Dr Bingham was my doctor until one day I couldn't get in to see him and went to see Dr Dutney instead. I've been with her ever since, partly because I prefer to have a female doctor, but also because she always remembers me, never seems in a hurry and is happy to answer any questions. Despite having moved to the other side of town, I'll keep going back to the St Lucia Family Practice and to Dr Dutney, as the treatment and service is so personalised.

He often has university medical students training alongside him, who he encourages to come up with a diagnosis. My neighbour, who generally drives me there in time of need, has actually bumped into him during his break, shared a coffee and proceeded to ask how my foot was healing.
