My child was around 2.5 when starting his first "school" experience here. He was part time (3 hours in the morning) and attended maybe a total of 5 or 6 school days before they told me they needed to unenroll him. The reasoning was regarding his emotional regulation. I could definitely see that he was having a hard time with emotional regulation - even at home. They also advised me to get him evaluated. I have no issues with getting my son help that he needs, but it did shock me to have such a strong response after barely knowing him and without giving him a chance to acclimate to a new environment. I asked for specific things that happened to understand what he was doing exactly that would result in him being unenrolled and the examples they gave were like "running around" and "struggling with the routine". I thought they were going to tell me he physically hurt someone or himself or that he was destructive to the classroom. I took time to reflect on their comments and spoke to his doctor. He did not have concerns and said that at 2.5 we cannot expect toddlers to have a grasp on their emotional regulation yet. Since this experience, he has now been in different schools where he is thriving. It's not due to smaller class ratios - the school he is in now has the same ratio and he is so happy to go to every day. I'm not sure what was going on at North Shore that made him so distressed. I believe if they gave him the opportunity to adjust he could have done well there too. Unfortunately, I think they only accept specific types of children that can follow very rigid routines. I chose a Montessori school because I thought the philosophy was to follow a child's lead as opposed to rigidity. I definitely acknowledge that my child was having a harder time managing his emotions (especially at that age), but parents of toddlers who are still learning how to regulate emotions and need more fluidity to just be a kid should be aware of this before enrolling. I also want to note that I find it extremely odd that you can't find reviews on this school. Google reviews are turned off, and there are only 2 posts on Facebook.

I couldn't agree more with Anthony G. This place is a hellhole. Teachers spend their entire day…read moreraging, taking their personal struggles and issues out on the students. The faculty couldn't care less about their students. The school wants to appear big, bold, and strict with these new rules, but they've just gotten weaker. Since there are more students "rebelling" now: free speech, clothing options, and even the least harmful things like having a cell phone on you. Get it together. I could've name dropped ;)

So far my experience at Dominican has been not the greatest. Would not send my child here. I am a…read moresophomore so I do experience things first hand. They make you walk six miles to raise money for stuff that you might not even do. There is no air con in the entire school except for the administration offices where no students are. The teachers can sometimes be nice. While others are not. Oh don't forget they charge way to much on the food for lunch. So to conclude my review I say to Dominican please fix these things.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about CPS! My son is four years old and has been in the…read morepreschool class here since fall. He absolutely loves it, and has been thriving. His teachers, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Babcock are so sweet, always planning fun activities and supporting kids' learning at the stage their in. Over all it's play-based preschool program helping littles learn independence, social skills, and cooperation. Oh and it's' a co-op, meaning there is always one additional 'adult' in the room. They rotate between kids in class for their own 'special person days,' and on that day they bring along a parent/adult. I've really enjoyed my time participating in that and seeing first hand how the classroom flows. It really just gives parents the opportunity to be involved in their child's first school experience! They have great resources, like the parent portal and monthly newsletter, great fundraisers you can participate in, and off-site gatherings where families can get to know each other more. We started our son at the preschool level, but they do offer toddler classes as well. 10/10 recommend!

The teachers at Community have been there for years and come from strong teaching backgrounds, which was really important to us when choosing a preschool. We've had such a wonderful experience with my daughter's teachers, and she genuinely loves going to school each day. I also really value the opportunity for parents to be involved in the classroom because it has given me a clear window into what her experience is like each day. We truly couldn't feel more positive about our experience at Community Preschool.

This sounds like something you'd hear from a seedy club at 2 am, not a private religious school. This occurs all day, on and off, making work from home and meetings impossible. It's disappointing that the school has such little regard for the local community in which they reside.

This is a fantastic school! All four of my children…read more attended and they loved everything about it. This exemplary school prepared them well to succeed in high school and taught them to love learning. They were grounded in their faith and enjoyed the many extra curricular activities like sports, Math league, STEM, music and art. The administration and teachers are the best in the area and they really care about our kids. Plus the facilities are first class with the latest in technology and physical comforts. If you are looking for world class education this is the place for you.
