I originally posted a month ago but took it down thinking I should give them another visit since this was a first occurrence. But, now today I receive a certified mailed letter (MIND YOU) that they are withdrawing from further care for my family's dental needs. So, my original comment will go back up and stay up and WILL NOT COME BACK DOWN AND YOU CAN SEE EVERYONE HOW THEY CAN BE. 4/29/2025 Post: Very unhappy with our services lately since Dr. Whitley has became part of their practice. He does not put the patient first. My daughter had an appt. yesterday and instead of him seeing her like we were originally scheduled after being rescheduled due to them because of spring break and they wanted off he let his secretary for billing (don't know her exact billet) see us instead and didn't even talk or speak to us after I had to jump through hoops after requesting off work the prior week and then rearranging my sons schedule so he can get my daughter and bring her to the clinic and me hurry and leave work to meet them there so I can talk with him about my daughters teeth and then he doesn't even see her or me. Very disappointing and disrespectful. Then the billing lady tells me that the part that I signed before that was $1100 for her teeth is now going to be $2000 and they wanted off to do it under the table and don't send it to the insurance company. Yeah. Okay. So, I have been going to this dental office since early 2000s and never ever got treated like this before. Believe me, me and my family will be looking for a new dental office and you and your family should be as well. Because, they are out to charge you for everything you got and not to help you at all. Believe that. Sad part is, I love the front staff. This letter informed us that our family's dental care would be withdrawn, the issue only involved my daughter and me. Finding such a friendly dental office after relocating to NC was reassuring. Every associate encountered from front desk, hygienist, dentist to check out made us feel part of a new community. Experiencing the high pressure polish was worth the salty taste for the best teeth cleaning. Could not stop smiling the rest of the week. I chose this practice initially because of their late hours. The fact that they are open late on certain days makes it very convenient for working people and others who can't make it during the day. The ladies working the front desk are very kind, patient and welcoming. The dentist and his wonderful dental assistant I met today were also very detailed and thorough. I have never had a dentist that detailed when checking the inside of my mouth. The hygienist also did a superb job. My teeth felt absolutely clean when she was done with them. Had an awesome all around experience, the ladies on the phone were sweet and helpful when I was making my first appointment with them. Once arriving I was greeted by the staff behind the counter, they all were very friendly and helped me right away. Got X-rays and my teeth cleaned. I brought my 3yr old along with me because she was going to be having a dentist appointment soon for her annual check up. They were very friendly with her and involved her with my check up so she wouldn't be afraid for when we come back for her teeth cleaning. Definitely recommend them to others. read more

I've been living locally for quite some time and I've ALWAYS hated going to the dentist before I found Anderson & Slack. It was the biggest hassle. It would take months to get an appointment at the (unnamed) office and then they would call and reschedule me at least once every time. Anderson & Slack squeeze me in for my appointments, always within a month, they're fast and friendly and it's always a great experience! Not to mention they remind me a million times of future appointments which is super helpful. read more

I've been there a few times, for myself & children, I think the dentists really know what they are doing and take pride in their work. However, my biggest issue was my children (so you may not care about this), but I was told not to have them present for my appointments- which I wouldn't if I had a choice. Even when they were there for their own appointments it felt like they were not very welcome. My kids are 2yrs & 4yrs. I gave them three stars because they didn't want to do my child's cavity (which is fine if they know someone can do it better) and referred me out... to someone that doesn't take insurance. I've had a lot of hassle and a very difficult time moving forward with this minor cavity and I do not feel welcome there with a child of 4 yrs of age at all. read more

This dentist isn't horrible, just not someone you would ever choose when there are better options in the area. I was a patient for a year and a half. Every time I went, I had a different hygienist (which I didn't complain about as none of them were particularly wonderful or friendly) and a different dentist. Zero continuity of care. I had one filling during that time, and it went fine, no problems. However, I am pregnant and my insurance covers an extra cleaning during pregnancy, as oral hygiene is so important during that time. The office refused to provide the extra cleaning, informing me it was too much of a pain to submit the claim to my insurance company. I cannot believe that in a military town with so many pregnant women, they can stay in business refusing to do work which is authorized and paid for by the insurance. I contacted Dr. Otero's office in Hampstead, and they had no problem doing the extra pregnancy cleaning- they do them all the time and they must have office workers who are competent as they didn't have any problem with submitting the claim to the insurance. I've heard great things about him, not only is he a good dentist but they offer nice "extras" like paraffin hand treatments during longer procedures. I suggest others give him and his wife, also a dentist there, a try before going to Anderson and Slack. read more

Everyone from the receptionist to the dental assistant to the dentist himself was super friendly, helpful and professional. My son and I got our teeth cleaned and had a great experience. I would definitely come back to this place! My only complaint is the constant contact. You gets emails AND phone calls to remind you of your appointments AND when it's time to make another appointment. One or the other, would be nice, but not both. read more

Dr. Whitley is extremely unprofessional. He accidentally drilled a hole in my husband's tongue while drilling his tooth and had to administer 4 stitches. Got it - accidents happen! However, he never apologized, never checked on my husband during the 2 week lapse between appointments, and never even attempted to credit any of the services for that appointment ($700). It took 30 mins to get the bleeding to stop! This may seem trivial to some but when anyone has oral surgery or any surgery for that matter - the doctor calls to check on their patients! Never happened. When my husband returned yesterday to have his crown put on, he inquired about the lack of concern as well as any credits toward the balance - "nothing could be done since the insurance has already been applied" per the receptionist. She added, "Dr. Whitley says he's sorry." Really - he couldn't tell my husband that??? They just lost two patients and no further recommendations for this office all because of a lack of common courtesy. Well done! read more

Had two visits at the Jacksonville office. During the first visit the dental hygienist was friendly, listened and took time to provide information throughout the cleaning. Denist came in for maybe 5 minutes and took no interest in getting to know my dental background as a new patient of his. The second visit I had a different hygienist and she was HORRIBLE! Despite the emphasis I placed on having sensitive teeth, she was rough and scrapped my teeth like gum off pavement. It was so uncomfortable that I stopped her and asked to see the dentist. The Denist once again unconcerned and no one bothered to even ask why I was upset. Needless to say I'm never going back and would rather take time off work for an appointment with a quality dental practice. Poor business and practice! read more

Nice staff but shady when it came to insurance. I keep getting emails and reminders about making an appointment and finally I did. I gave the receptionist my insurance information and a month later I get a charge stating I owe $100. Called them up and a Janice explained to me that my new insurance wasn't a provider of theirs and kept saying that it was my responsibility to know and its not their job to inform patients regarding their benefits. My point being, why take my insurance information and continue with the appointment when I know they knew that that insurance wasn't a provider of theirs?????? Or at least warn me that they weren't a provider? Not everyone can just fork in $100 out of nowhere; sorry this is just shady to me. I would have gone somewhere else if I had know they weren't a provider. I'm sure they have a list of their providers! Very upset. Shady actions here. read more

My first appointment in this office, to start the receptionist very rude no even good morning just said what do you want? wow what professionalism!! then when I explained I have appointment she just give me some papers that i already filled and sent previous to appointment, I explained I already did and she got mad!! really? then between her mess she found it!! and after 5 min that I wait stand up she turn her face to my and said seat!!! lol...seriously?? I wait for 35 min outside because the assistant?/receptionst was talking with a patient about his life no even a dental procedures so I got up and ask the receptionist how long is going to take? cause is been 35 min delay in my appointment she look the assistant /receptionist too and said to me as soon as she finished with this patient you get in...lol!!! so I looked the assistant and she got upset!!! REALLY LOL!!.After 5 minutes she finally let patient go she came and open the door call me and even didn't apologize, no even please follow me so I just follow her and again with her hand show me dental chair so I sat. Then she comes with an explorer and told me open your mouth, looked at my tooth and she left to other room and talk with other patient who wants extraction procedure, and then comeback and said the Doctor will be here soon so I asked how soon cause I've been waiting for 50 min so she got mad and answer well maybe in 25 min cause he is with another patient...so I told her my appointment was 50 min ago and Do I have to wait for another 25 min maybe? she said yes so Do you want a wait or leave? this just too much!! so I left and then she ask me Do you still want to keep your cleaning appointment? lol I just look at her and smile and say OF COURSE!!! really??? lol!!! Funny part I never met the doctor but this is what people incompetent and inefficient can do to a maybe good dentist!! I worked doing dental audit and quality health services thats why I wait all this time cause I want to see inside of this office and trust me nothing impressive just too messy!! Hope Dr Anderson and Slack have time to read this and hired people young, with desire to work and at least with skills to talk with people in front and back during procedures at least smile!!!, is a constructive critic!! So as a suggestion when schedule an appointment be aware that you will be seat 1 hr late so take your time...and if is a dental emergency hmmmm think about it!! read more
