Hello, I actually graduated from this school and I can confirm everything Katie B. reviewed was…read morecorrect. A few years ago, I heard this place was great, but now it's just full of women who are catty towards each other. There are only about 3-4 people within those walls that are actually there to help the students and that does not include the 2 owners (not named Dana H). Dana H - why does your title say "business owner"? You're the lady that sits up front and waits for people to walk in and sign up to talk to the other, more important people. I'm going to guess the owners told you to write this but use your name instead, so they aren't attached to the reply, because that seems like something they would do. First issue - This place was a certified testing site for the NHA exam - anyone who doesn't know, the NHA exam is the exam you take after you graduate to become certified in your field, it's how you get your job - well in December while I was there, I heard a rumor that the school wouldn't be a certified testing site anymore. I really don't remember how/where I heard it, but turns out the rumor was a fact. They then let my class graduate without telling anyone the school wasn't a testing site anymore. So now all these men and women have been waiting, what 4 months?, to be called and told when they can come in, pay for their exam, and take it. Not knowing they now need to go online and schedule a test at a site in Lexington KY, which the students could have done months ago themselves. Side note: I loved an instructor, had her the entire time I was there, which is a rare occurrence with the scheduling. I knew the school wasn't a testing site before she did - if that says anything. The second issue - If you go here to become a Certified Medical Assitant (CMA), their externship was actually going to a partnered hospital/doctor's office and being put there to complete the hours needed and when finished, they most likely got hired on as an employee wherever they went. What was Medical Coding and Billing's externship? A computer program we could do from home.....not the same and didn't get me a job as soon as I finished. No thanks. The third issue - sometimes you are eligible for a scholarship that they have you sign up for. I didn't even know this existed until talking to a classmate. They had me sign up only after I asked about it and around 2 months BEFORE I graduated (its a 9-12 month program). The scholarship people called me and told me "sorry, you just signed up too late, you're not eligible. The school should have had you sign up within the first month of becoming a student". The lady also told me that they do this to a lot of students and she doesn't understand why they wait 10 months in to let the student apply. I just don't get why either, except the obvious - they just want your money. I hope this was helpful. It's very hard to not be hateful towards this place, get your education elsewhere!

The owners are more concerned with the image of their college than they are about the education of…read moretheir students. They don't keep their staff up to date on important exams for the students, and they have unrealistic expectations for all of their faculty. The instructors are the only good thing about this facility. This is not only knowledge of my own, but also that of several of the students who were/are currently enrolled in the programs there.

EKU Alumni Coliseum…read more I've spent many a happy hour inside the Eastern Kentucky University Alumni Coliseum! I return to visit as often as I am able. I always call it the arena. Starting in 1968 I saw music concerts that are historic now. In the early 70's I saw the Temptations, The Spinners, Earth Wind and Fire, and more. I can't remember all the shows now. I've tried to find a list of the shows at the EKU Coliseum but haven't located a list yet. I hope they have historical information. I attended other shows I'm sure and probably a basketball game. I'm not much of a basketball fan. I spent a lot of time swimming in the pool. Since my friends and family still live in the area I visit when I go to Richmond. I'm giving it Five Stars because I've never been disappointed. I hope other people can have the happy memories after their time spent at the Alumni Coliseum. If you live nearby like I did you know about the activities offered in this beautiful old venue. A little history: Built in 1963, the Paul S. McBrayer Arena located inside Alumni Coliseum, is capable of seating around 6,500 people in both chair-back seats and on wooden benches (8,000 for concerts) arranged in a horseshoe shape, facing a wall at the right side of the arena where staging is usually set up for events. The arena's ceiling is made completely of wooden beams and is believed to be the largest of its kind in existence. It was named for the former EKU Men's Basketball Coach Paul McBrayer who compiled a record of 219-144.

My review of Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is focused on their athletic amenities. I visited…read moreEKU to attend the State Track Meet for Special Olympics of Kentucky and was mostly pleased with what they offer. It's a nice looking campus and features a number of older buildings mixed with some newer ones. There's also plenty of green space. EKU Athletics features the Roy Kidd Football Stadium as well as outdoor track facilities; softball and baseball fields; an indoor basketball arena; and a natatorium. Although EKU offers all these options, most of their facilities are outdated/worndown and arena-style seating is limited (example: there was only about 10 rows of bleacher-style seating at the track field). Still, EKU is a good option for sporting events!
