I was very excited to come to Eastview for the first time Dec. 28th. I was visiting from out of town and needed prayer and worship. I looked online to check the location and time of services. I was extremely disappointed to have spent 40 dollars on an uber to show up to church and notice a sign saying "sorry we're closed..." this information was not online and I unfortunately will never try coming again. Church is not a job that you can take off on weekends. People really need to pray and worship and hear the word. read more

I haven't been here in about 13 years. I brought all my kids and their spouses plus my grandchildren today. I made arrangements with Nicole Green, one of the pastors, for me to finally get Baptized. After the last service was over, I was Baptized with the support of my family. The church was huge and beautiful. They have much to offer. I was thoroughly impressed with how everyone made us all feel so welcomed. My grandbabies loved Sunday school and want to go back. Nicole made me feel so welcomed. She even spoke to kindly to all my children that they are considering becoming a member. It was an amazing day. Thank you, Jesus. read more

The first time that I had an interaction at this church was during the school year of 2012 to 2013. It is now 2025. I am 22 years old now. I was in the 4th grade at Benjamin Elementary in 2012 to 2013. I have been too scared to voice my opinion about this place, because of the grand influence that it has over the people that reside in Bloomington Normal. It is easy to see that each sector of this Church is very dysfunctional. Many of their groups and or staff members are idolized or put on a pedestal. The reality is that, the quality and value that they espouse is so poor in comparison to the pedestal that people place them on, and the standard that they advertise, that it becomes very toxic very quickly. On some Sunday's I attend both services. I wish that I recorded both services each Sunday. I can recall many Sundays in where The Differences and Discrepancies between Brandon Grant's 1st service and 2nd Service are clear that one might think that these are two different people. Many respectful, and admired speakers of the early 2000's and even today's generation, speak with their own style. Barrack Obama does have an effective and distinct cadence. This personifies character style and credibility as a speaker. Donald Trump, while he has a very different cadence, his style of entertaining a crowd is unique and unlike any other in history. Bill Clinton, Captivates an Audience with his Eye Contact. These are characteristics of each speaker that hook attract and engage an Audience. Brandon Grant's niche seems to be inserting about ten Jokes into his sermons each Sunday. This can be useful once and a while as comedic relief may help lighten someone's spirit and put them at ease. When Someone goes out of their way to write ten jokes into their sermon each week, they better have connected each one of them to a spiritual teaching. So, as Christians we are taught to imitate Jesus, We are told that imitation is the highest form of flattery, Jesus is known to have a serious demeanor and disposition. Brandon Grant comes off as a wannabe class clown. Jesus was not a class clown. They often talk about how they'd like to get more families involved or children involved, Brandon, could easily connect with each family in the audience by introducing the members of the church to his family and children. This could be as simple, as showing a slideshow that contain pictures of him and his children at sporting events. Brandon also has a pattern of repeating words that start with P. He repeats the word prominent or some form of it; and he repeats the word proximity nearly every sermon. He uses many words in the incorrect format, sentence structure, and context, It is easy to understand that his purpose for using these words is to appear knowledgeable and intelligent. His frequent incorrect use of words, does not accomplish his purpose, and instead it defeats the purpose. It does exactly the opposite of what he is attempting to achieve. He wants to sound well read and intelligent. Brandon's excessive use of the words prominent and proximity, accomplish an antagonistic purpose. It is like an oxymoron----- an oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines contradictory words with opposing meanings. some examples of an oxymoron are -------(Bittersweet) (Skinny fat) (Stupid- Love) (Honest thief) (Minor Crisis) Brandon's excessive use of words that he uses to illustrate an image that he is very intelligent, such as (Prominent) and (Proximity) (Pedigree), (Paradox) and (Paradigm) and (Dichotomy) are like an oxymoron, because they succeed in accomplishing the exact opposite or "enemy" of his overarching goal. This negates his ethos or credibility as a speaker. Brandon's rate of speaking when preaching a message is so fast, that it prompts me to question if speaking with confidence gives him anxiety. Ben Miller, The Campus Minister and Patriarch of ISU and Encounter, Josh Jacob's the Young Adult Pastor, each make regular guest appearances Brandon Grant's shows and sermons. Zach Thompson is another guest speaker that plays a reoccurring role. Getting to know a Guest Pastor and Learning about them can be a great thing. In my opinion the differing quirks, personalities, and styles of Brandon's cohorts do not mesh as seamlessly as they could. Instead they clash. Brandon is very boisterous and flamboyant. It is not uncommon for Ben Miller to express disproportionately large amount of emotion when he preaches. Ben Miller is a tall guy. He is sic feet and three inches tall or taller. Tall people are often thought of as athlete's or warriors or Leader's The first adjective that comes to my mind accurately describe his preaching personality is Dramatic. I went here for several years and made an effort to get involved. While I was there, the church went through a number of changes. Unfortunately, the church leadership made decisions without any input from people that would be impacted by it. I am not someone that always has to have my way, but I was consistently dismissed. I grew up Lutheran in the Chicago Suburbs going to a small church with a traditional service. After 8th grade I became a Creaster (Christmas + Easter only attender). And four years of college didn't help either. When my husband and I got engaged we decided it was time to stop ignoring God and find a church. We went to one service at Eastview in 2004 and haven't looked back. Why I LOVE Eastview: Mike Baker our Pastor. You can view his sermons on their website to see for yourself but because of his style I learned more about what those lutheran traditions were all about as a kid and he gave me a new appreciation for other denominations. I am so glad that we will get to grow old with Mike as our pastor because he is so young. The Musical Worship. I had never been a part of this before and I am convinced we have the most talented individuals at our church. I like that every sunday is a concert for God. Serving the Community. Between the food pantry, the christmas giving effort called "imagine", the sports ministries and the missions I can hardly believe how giving people can be. Challenges me every day to be better and give more. Small Groups. They are not cults. When real people with real lives and real issues meet together regularly in their homes to talk about God and Jesus, pretty cool things happen. We joined a small group a few weeks into joining the church and it was the one decision that really made my life better. Eastview made it easy to take a crazy step and meet with strangers and I am so thankful. What drives other people nuts: Eastview is huge. Yes it is. But it is comprised of one person. And another and another. Just like any other church. Big in my mind isn't a negative. Our size allows us to give back in big ways. Love being a part of that. The Parking. Yes we have parking attendants. Does that feel uppity to you? It gets everyone in and out easily, especially those who need special assistance. We have 4,000 people attending our church each week, parking attendants is responsible. At the end of the day... Finding a place to worship God is a very personal choice. This is my personal choice and it has helped me grow in ways I didn't know I should or could. I am thankful and wish I lived in North Normal so I didn't have to drive so far. read more

I had attended Willow Creek Community Church (you know, that massive, doesn't even look like a church, church in Barrington, Illinois) my entire life. I had enjoyed the vibe of going to a big church, so I felt right at home going to Eastview. But what I had found was that Eastview brings all of the pro's of being a big church and somehow leaves out all the cons. The pastor, Mike is awesome. I find him to never fail at keeping my attention and always leaving me wanting to learn more about the Bible. His sermons are not topical and they will give you a new insight on a Bible story that you might have heard ten times before. Not only is he an awesome pastor but he is not afraid to speak his mind, which is one thing I don't like about Willow. They are too afraid to offend anyone, not Mike. I will really miss this church once I graduate and leave the area. Also, the music really isn't that loud haha. read more

I kinda of have mix feelings about this church. I kind of feel like some of the people not all of them but some people who come here are just talkers not doers. Meaning that they come and preach about loving Jesus but they don't follow his word once they leave. But that might be for every church. Haven't had any rude people there. Parking is awesome a lot of space but it can be a bit crowd during some services so you might want to park over at Normal Community and take the shuttle bus. Food is great at their cafe but they don't accept credit or debit cards so you might want to bring cash or loose change. read more

Eastview Christian Church brought me back to God in just one service after 45 years of not attending church. I love the way that Pastor Mike does his sermons, he isn't afraid to tell you the truth about the bible and he truly believes in the bible. He is awesome and keeps your attention and makes you want more sermons. I now go every week that I can, I've only missed 4 services and felt really bad I couldn't attend. I love the music. Matt is an incredible musician and singer. The music adds life to the Word of God and also makes you want more to listen to. I was lost, but now I am found. This church had me the first time I went with a friend that invited me to try it out. I love it and what it stands for, and I am grateful to be a part of this church! read more

This is an awesome Church. The Pastor teaches by the Bible the true word of God. If you weren't afraid to pickup the Bible and read it you would truly understand what the Lord says about gays, lesbians etc. The bible teaches how wrong that is but people today choose to look over that none the less its in the Bible.
