I was very excited to come to Eastview for the first time Dec. 28th. I was visiting from out of…read moretown and needed prayer and worship. I looked online to check the location and time of services. I was extremely disappointed to have spent 40 dollars on an uber to show up to church and notice a sign saying "sorry we're closed..." this information was not online and I unfortunately will never try coming again. Church is not a job that you can take off on weekends. People really need to pray and worship and hear the word.

I made arrangements with Nicole Green, one of the pastors, for me to finally get Baptized. After the last service was over, I was Baptized with the support of my family. The church was huge and beautiful. They have much to offer. I was thoroughly impressed with how everyone made us all feel so welcomed. My grandbabies loved Sunday school and want to go back. Nicole made me feel so welcomed. She even spoke to kindly to all my children that they are considering becoming a member. It was an amazing day. Thank you, Jesus.

Our pastors know members and frequent guests and greet everyone warmly. Their sermons are scripture-based, meaningful, humor is used appropriately, and I can always take something home to use in my life. The mission and social justice work in our community and beyond show we care about others and putting our time and money into helping others. Our education programs are open to all ages and provide Christian education in a fun atmosphere. Can't say enough positive things about First Presbyterian Church of Normal. The parking lot was spacious and the greeters were welcoming and informative. They directed us to their welcome center and the sanctuary. The membership was vibrant, engaging and friendly. The congregation consisted of various age groups. The music was a blend of contemporary and traditional. The preaching was Biblically centered and impactful in its presentation. They utilized the Bible in the message and during the lead-ins. They had a reception area with coffee and light food items, it was a great place to fellowship. The church has several outreach opportunities and church activities. It is a wonderful place to gather and worship the Lord.

When I started as a "new" Christian at this church 15 years ago, I was very compelled by how…read morewelcoming everyone was. I was invited to be involved in one of the Bible studies there, and they were very patient when I asked so many(what I'm sure some would consider) basic questions. It was such a "normal" group of people. They weren't condescending and they admitted their own weaknesses freely. Growing up, my own dad, (a strong atheist) would put all those who believed in a higher power than themselves, into the categories of "idiots" and "brainwashers". It wasn't until my introduction to E-Free that I realized my dad was very wrong. And in fact, as it turns out, he was the only one with a brainwashing agenda. Over the years I have been involved in a variety of areas within the church . . . directing children's choir, teaching preschool, helping with Vacation Bible School, Women's Ministries, Event Planning, Arts and Sport Camp the Praise and Worship Team and Single Mom's Morning Out. If you are look for a church that feels safe, is culturally and socially diverse, and a great place for children, families and singles . . . Evangelical Church might be your new church home. I was actually shocked when I read the negative review written in 2014. The congregation is the whole reason I've kept going there for 15 years. Oh . . . and the Pastors are pretty great too. My children were baptized there. I have so many friends there I can't even count, and I meet new people every week. I strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a church to give it a try.
