We discovered them, as we walked out of the Lucca Train station. We stopped in to get details, and the man working was super helpful! We decided to rent the scooter for a day, he gave us directions of where to go, and off we went for a ride around the hills surrounding Lucca - wine and olive county. After a bit of paperwork, we got our keys, helmets and were pointed in the direction of the hills. Along with a wave and "have a good time... and bring it back full." Off we went. 49 euro will get a bucket list item checked. Thank you Tourist Center Lucca for an amazing day! When we come back to Lucca, we'll stop by again.

The property is located in a peaceful area surrounded by the classic beauty of the Tuscan countryside. The room and bathroom were both very clean and well kept. Sitting outside and swimming in the pool with mountain views was a refreshing change of pace from touring in Italy's larger cities. There are many beautiful properties in Tuscany; however, Sergio and Cecelia create an inviting and cheerful atmosphere at Settesoldi that is extremely difficult to match. They go above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable, happy and well fed. Cecelia is a phenomenal chef and uses all of the local ingredients in her dishes. She was happy to share her recipes and methods with me while she cooked. The pasta with Tuscan kale and the fried wild boar cutlets were exceptional. In addition, the meal is enhanced by the family style dining experience: Sergio and Cecelia's warmness, conversations with couples from different backgrounds and the ever flowing wine. Many people easily took day trips to Florence, Lucca, Pisa, etc. from Settesoldi; however, my husband and I chose to maximize our relaxation time in the country side. In addition to relaxing on the property, Sergio took us on a tour of the local facility where olive oil is made and to a nearby vineyard to do a wine tasting. Both were nice additions to our stay and provided us with the ability to gain some insight into the local culture. Our one regret was that we only spent 3 nights at Settesoldi! We highly recommend a stay at Settesoldi for anyone looking to enjoy the Tuscan countryside, local cuisine and authentic Italian hospitality.
