I have a big soft spot for this particular Eat, as I used to always meet my dad here. and we would do as the name urges- Eat. The company is a family run one, booming in London at the moment thanks to their huge and very convinient selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, cakes, baked goods, puds, hot beverages and so on. Look out Pret, Eat is catching up! The location is great, southbank, next to the national, stuff always going on, skaters to spy on and giggle, people watching rife. Sunny days are the best, you can sit outside, buy a LOT to eat (my faves are the mexican chicken wrap, chili con carne soup and the bircher muesli) and just chill out and pig out. Lovely. Prices are okay, but not cheap.

Housed beneath the new Royal Festival Hall and a few metres from the banks of the river Thames, EAT. is probably the cheapest place to get food on the South Bank. That does mean it gets very busy, and can run out of things, and the service is curt at best. However! it is very good (mostly) healthy fast food, very tasty and excellent value. I particularly recommend the soups, a toasted Eat club or the slightly more expensive but delicious and filling pies. Coffee is also cheaper than some competitors. And regardless of what it's like inside (often busy or unkempt), you can walk a few feet and eat your lunch on one of the benches looking out over the river. Instant romance. On a budget.

Delicious, nice outdoor seating, reasonable prices. I was very pleasantly surprised with this cute cafe. It is located in a great location along the river and has a lot of seating both indoor and outdoor. It was great to step inside for a quick cup of warm soup on a cold, fall day. A cup of soup was less than 4 pounds. I ordered the chicken pot pie soup and I would definitely recommend it to others. The menu was big with other appetizing options as well. They had delicious-looking salads, sandwiches, soups, and drinks.

Yeah, I'm fully bought in. It's a simple concept, you either choose the "salads" of the day or just…read moregreens, choose whether you want a regular or a large, and the can add single or double portions of various premiums and dressings. I got a large crunch box and added goats cheese and chicken. For my dressing I chose the lemon pesto. I was shocked at how large it was. I mean the thing weighed like a kilo, and the portions of the premiums I chose were so generous. Nothing worse than when you pay like £4 to add chicken and they give you a paltry amount. This was the opposite. Now, quantity aside, I also found that the quality was superb. Everything was super tasty and the pesto dressing was delicious. My only recommendation is to be a bit more specific on what the "salads" are and what's in them for people with dietary restrictions but overall yeah, this place do a bang up lunch at a good price.

Such a great find - thanks to Yelp!…read more It's actually quite hard to find a good salad bar in London. So, as always I turned to my Yelp app and found this great place at Old Street. The wait is long during lunch hours as the line goes down the street...though that should be a good indication, yes ? The Salad Kitchen is in a funky little food community near Old Street with numerous places to sit, easy or to grab something from the food stalls. The Salad Kitchen has VERY limited options, both times I've been, it's only been chicken or eggplant in the salad. The cost was £5.40 - which is a very good price, I feel. There is only 2 tables, both with two chairs - so I think most people grab their salad and then head somewhere else - though I did get in (without having to pay extra) and it was fine. A great place for a great salad, for a great price on the run. I walked 20 minutes out of my way, and it was so worth it! :-)

Vivo is a cafeteria style cafe near Islington Green and its really a-okay in terms of offerings…read more Nicely styled, the cafe is relatively new and features hidden pizza ovens to warm pre-prepared pizzas, prepared deli salads, dessert and a beverage bar with a nice craftsman La Marzocco machine. There were nice fresh offerings, all made up prior, which can either be served up or reheated according to your preference. The decor is super modern, stylish and very elegant for a cafe, and the food looks fabulous in the case, but the actual food quality and the service is just alright, but short of terrific. Still, a nice stop if you want a quick bite while out shopping, but its hard for me to get terribly excited about reheated pizza.

I got a counter option of a ricotta, pumpkin and green salad for a decent price- about 6 pounds for a huge plate. I also got a small side portion of the spiced cauliflower, broccoli and radishes as well- all tasty. The counter staff was also nice enough to let me taste a paprika tater before I bought it. The waitress places a nice small bowl of seasoned olives on the table prior to setting down the orders. Yum! My husband loved his ham pizza. The merlot wine is decent.
