£9 Tonkatsu bento
Chantee F.

Cheap eats doesn't always work out to be a good meal but in this case, it was. Lunch specials start at only £9 for a bento and the portion is enough for a substantial meal. The menu is large - choose from sushi, rolls, tempura, soba, tonkatsu, teriyaki, salmon, donburi, etc. I was happy with my bento's quality - tasty miso soup, salad with dressing, lots of rice, pickles and your choice of main (one or two). The star was actually the fried tofu which was soft on the inside, a slight crisp shell soaked in soy dashi and topped with wakame. I left full and happy! On the down side, staff need to work on their customer service. Definitely not the traditional customer-first attitude most Japanese restaurants provide. I also had to ask for more water as no one checked on me mid-meal. Decor is minimal and you literally walk through the crowded kitchen to get to the seating area. It's not somewhere I would take a date but if you want cheap and cheerful, this is your place.

Top Sushi Restaurant of London at a very good price. The food is really amazing, some flavor are really feeling like you're in japan. The restaurant is managed by Japanese staff, it probably helps. The room at the back is not so comfy but you go there for the food first. Taste is what matters and you won't be disappointed here !

Absolute little gem of a sushi place. Hidden off the maim road in nottinghill, a two.minute walk from the station. When you walk in you would be forgiven for thinking this is a small takaway shop but the tavles are through the back. We were.led.by a friendly waitress in colourful kimino. You csn see the sushi checs busy st work in the open kitchen area. Whilst this place is a little cramped it really is worth it. The fish tastes extremely fresh and the salmon and tuna sashimi were melt in the mouth. I found the tempura vegetables a little flavourless and the dipping sauce for it didn't have much taste however this is my only complaint. The fried seafood dumplings were delectable and a bargain at £3 for 4. I am a bit of a spicy tuna maki aficionado and the standard here is good. The plum wine was sweet and delicious too! With lots of sushi restaurants vying for business I really feel that this place is a cht above the rest.

The restaurant has small entrance but the inside was quite big!

Very delicious authentic Japanese food! As a Japanese, it had been difficult to get satisfied with Japanese food in London until I visited there! I will definitely visit there again sometime especially when I get homesick..haha The taste is quite same as food in Japan! They use some typical Japanese ingredients like SHISO(Japanese herb)! Each plate, Donburi and Jyu is very volumy so all of us got full after we ate half of them. The price is good! Even dinner it costs around £16 per person! But I wish there were more smaller size with a bit cheeper options! The waitors and waitresses were so cheerful and helpful so we had a very pleasant evening! I felt they enjoy communicating with customers!

Exceptional fresh uncooked shrimp.

5 stars only because of this shitty rating scale. It's not perfect but I really liked the place. Food; very tasty and fresh, small sushi menu, looks like they are aimed more towards actual traditional Japanese food. Price; For London, outskirts, and it's on a smaller side portions I think it's at two ££. Service; this is large one for me, employees atmosphere is very important to me for a good dining experience. Everyone was smiling, working well together. Multiple servers that kept everything under control without any mistakes. Verdict; I highly recommend! Make sure you make a reservation.

Stunning Japanese food at reasonable prices- I've finally found the real deal in west London! On the same street as the more famous "Feng Sushi" and very close to the new enormous "Itsu" in Notting Hill Gate- I've just eaten the best California Rolls I've had in London! I also had edamame and a wonderful spicy squid and a coke for just £10! The chef and staff are Japanese and they are clearly very proud of the food they serve and the way they serve it. The chef appears to have quite a history of awards and the fact everything is in Japanese with smaller English print (sometimes!) underneath speaks volumes about their target market- London's resident Japanese population (and anyone else with a sense of curiousity or adventure!). They also seem to do very reasonable take away lunches for about £4.50. Well worth a visit-I'll probably be back once a week at least!

Our favourite local. You have to have the braised pork belly! If you want to gorge out on sashimi go for the sashimi boat! It's insane. Friendly staff and efficient service here. The place has a good vibe and is unlike some of the touristy places in the area.

Authentic food, good portion and good price. I loved everything and ended up having the entire table of food by myself. Would definitely go again and try other dishes!

Great hearty ramen. Everything is so tasty but I've made a huge mistake to order the spicy one…read morebecause it was unbearably spicy. We also tried the chicken broth one but it's definitely not as intense as the pork broth. If you don't have any dietary restrictions, highly recommend the pork soup. Chicken karage is very nice as well! We mixed the soy sauce and vinegar together for a dipping sauce and it cuts down the oiliness so it was perfect. Wait staff is nice and alway accommodating our request!

The server was really nice and it looked like he was the only one working at the time so he was doing everything and trying his best to get me seated asap. Once I was seated, placing my order and getting my food was very quick. I ordered a lunch set and I got to say the soup base was kinda bland for a ramen which I feel like is pretty flavorful and the dumplings were just okay. The frozen ones I've had at home have more flavor...The chili oil definitely helped with the flavor though. This lunch set was a great deal though for all that and a cocktail I paid under 20 pounds. First time there with my colleagues for a dinner ! The…read moreplace itself is really small and our group of 14 people had the place for ourselves ! Very comfy ! The place is owned by a Japanese family of six, all working together. This is place is not known for their sushi ( forget it, it's not the main food of Japanese food) but for their katsu ( fried food ) we ordered different dishes to share : edamame, kushikatsu, fried oysters, fishcake, pork, some greens... and of course sake ! Everything was very tasty, it reminded me Japan so much ! I totally recommend this place for enjoying nice and real Japanese food! Also it's not too pricy for London

This teeny tiny gem of a restaurant is absolutely fantastic. After stopping by in the afternoon,…read moreand finding they were only open in the evenings, say after 6pm, we called ahead to book a table for 2 at 7:00pm. It was a good thing we did, because the place filled up soon after we were seated. This please specializes in battered fried awesome on a stick. So do order some of these fun dishes. I also tried a bit of their sushi, and it was tasty and unfussy. But I think the highlight of the meal was trying new flavours, such as deep fried shrimp wrapped in perilla leaf. They also have a very nice sake and shochu selection. Try the red bean ice cream. Very subtle and a lovely texture with mashed beans included. Our hostess/waitress was a one woman wonder, and she made sure we loved everything. Don't be afriad to ask if you don't know what a sauce or side dish is. I learned I really like the yellow pickled radish called takuan that came with my partner's meal. and it made the hostess super happy too boot, as apparently, according to her, many younger Japanese don't like the flavour. Ah well, I know I did.
