My original review is below. I'm now a month in and I'm adding a star. A few reasons: the variety I think was a seasonal thing. It's improved as we start to get spring produce. There are still repeats (like so many favas and beets and spinach lol) but it's better than it was initially. They are an organic farm and it shows - ants in the box, that kind of thing. Very rustic produce - requires a good scrub and not always the prettiest but a lot of it is what I've coined "ugly delicious". Grocery stores (and restaurants) optimize for looks so the stuff in the box can look less than exciting when you get it in some cases. Strawberries that aren't plump and juicy, the tiniest peaches I've ever seen, favas that have some bruises, that kind of thing. But when you use it, the flavors are usually great. A pleasant surprise is some boxes have unexpected extras. Not sure if it is an accident but I'll take it- this week it was broccolini. Quantities are also quite good and they give you storage tips which also helps you figure out what to use first. I think it's probably somewhere between 4 and 5 stars for me- there have been some misses and some of the produce isn't always in great shape as others have noted. I find myself cooking and eating more fruits and vegetables and just being more creative in the kitchen so I consider that a win too. -- I am relatively new to CSAs and I've gotten a few boxes from Eatwell so far. I wanted to write this review as I wasn't sure what to expect or if it'd be worth it and most reviews are a little older so I hope it's useful. The good: - for $32, it's on the average to lower end of boxes I found in the Bay Area . Not an amazing deal for what you get but I think it's a pretty good price - easy to manage: you have to prepay for 4 boxes minimum so it is a commitment but you can skip a week if needed (for example I was out of town 1 week and did this on their website with no issue) and can do it every week or every 2 weeks depending on what works for you - they list their boxes plus some instructions at https://www.eatwell.com/thisweeksbox. I found this useful to refer to although sometimes their estimates on how long things would last seemed off (usually under what I found online in other places so either things are not fresh when you get them and they account for that or their estimates are just wrong, unclear) - quantities are generally pretty good. Not so much it is overwhelming but most things were enough for multiple meals depending on how many you are cooking for - I appreciated you got some citrus so there was fruit and not just veggies What could be improved: - I understand seasonality but my boxes were largely identical week over week. I looked at their past boxes too and while they do vary with the seasons, there are a ton of repeats. I did see some stuff varying and did at times get stuff I hadn't gotten before. I they could stagger or rotate a bit it might be nice. Even within a box, I found mine to have a ton of leafy greens for example and would have liked to see different types of vegetables a bit more - the quality was good but it wasn't exceptional. I have had a good amount of farm fresh produce even though I'm new to CSAs and sometimes they really make blow you away with how good things can be. All the stuff in the boxes plus the add ons were solid but nothing that was extraordinary so far. A few things I hoped would be amazing and were good but not especially noteworthy included the eggs, the avocados, the bok choy, lemons (some of those are add ons). To be fair though, some of the items which didn't look beautiful like the strawberries were actually really tasty and I think this is because grocery stores (as opposed to straight from the farm) optimize for looks over taste so here you do get the more "pure" flavorful items I did make some lovely meals from my boxes and it pushed me to try and cook things I wouldn't normally use so that was cool. Overall, a solid experience and the things I mentioned make it 4 stars from me. read more

I've doing business with this family farm for 10 years. I've ordered their smoked chili salt in quantity (e.g., 6-12 jars at a time). The last order they sent me six jars of lemon salt. I called. I emailed. I texted, and never heard back from them. It seems the wife/mother and her family is in over their heads ever since the husband/father died. Never again will I spend a dime with them when they clearly don't give two craps about their retail customers. read more

I really hate leaving negative reviews but I feel that it's only fair that people know what they're getting. Honestly this has got to be the worst CSA out there. I really thought that coming straight from the farm the fruits and veggies would be beautiful and fresh, the best of their yield, but it really looks like they choose to send the rejects that didn't sell at the Ferry building to us. There is a lot of wilted and scarred produce, already on their way to being bad, half of what is in the box are a combo of veggies that no one wants to eat and I feel like are cheap filler for them and every single box I've had to throw away food especially the fruit because they're so severely bruised, have holes or taste just inedible. To make matters worse they automatically charged my card again which I didn't set up, so I was stuck once again with them. Almost every week the owner sends out an email begging (she literally used the word begging) for more money and trying to get people to pay a donation, or buy more because they can't make ends meet, and they've also raised the cost of the box. It feels very desperate and icky. She also complains a lot about people putting their boxes on hold all the time because when they do they lose income. I think she needs to be honest and realize that people don't like what's being offered and that's the reason, not the endless vacations she's supposing they're on. For the cost they're charging I can buy actually fresh, organic, local produce that looks like it truly got picked that day at my farmers markets and store but without a 30 percent markup. For their sake I hope they rethink their business strategy before they lose more people. read more

Supporting Eatwell is CSA membership at its finest. This small family farm produces amazing organic produce not just for the pride of hard work, but as a service to us consumers and the planet. Serious consideration about crop management and land use has been an integral part of their operations since its inception. Even with the tragic passing of its primary founder, his wife carries on the good work. And you get to read about it in each week's newsletter. You can choose from a Family Box or Box for 2. Our household of 2 subscribes to the latter and occasionally supplements it at our local farmers market, depending on guests for the week. As others have mentioned, special seasonal add-ons are also offered each week, e.g. fruit, herbs, canning tomatoes, rich eggs from their happy hens. Convenient pick-ups are located throughout SF, the East Bay (Hayward and northward), and a couple in the North Bay, and its an exciting treat every time. I've been an Eatwell CSA member on/off for over 10 years (off when I moved away for school, ironically to Davis right next door to Eatwell). I admit there have been a few disappointing items over the years, and for big snafus, Eatwell's service is excellent. But when I think about how hard it is to be a farmer, the integrity with which they produce my food, and the extremely reasonable price I pay for it, I rarely find it worth the effort to even send an email about it. Hence this glowing 5-star review and my strong encouragement that you find out how great it feels to be an Eatwell member. read more

I love Eatwell! My boyfriend and I are trying to eat food that is SLOW: seasonal, local, organic and whole and this is where Eatwell comes in. I plan menus around what is in the box and have had a blast trying new kinds of produce. I also adore supporting a local farm (Dixon is only 65 miles away!) and the newsletter included each week gives me a connection to my food. I can't ask for a better CSA. Eatwell is the best CSA Evah! They're flexible with putting boxes on hold, there is a nice selection of fruits & veggies, the recipes are great, and there are on-farm events for members. Plus, their eggs are so delicious. Sometimes they even have orange yolks! They're so good that I can seriously tell the difference between the Eatwell eggs and the organic-but-bought-from-the-store eggs. Mmmmm! Personally, I LOVE that they just give us a box of yummies and tell us what to do with it. No decision making for me in my world of already-too-many-choices. I picked up some vegetable plants from Eat Well while in the market. I was most interested in the cherry tomato that is from the slopes of Mt Vesuvius. Italians know tomatoes. I switched from my go-to CSA program to Eatwell since the drop off place was closer to me. Boy, what a mistake! The vegetables were horrible and tasted terrible. I would think the the CSA basket would contain the "best of" brunch, not the "most ugly, scarred, and terrible tasting veggies and fruits rejects from the Ferry Building stash." Here are my main complaints: 1) Veggies and Fruits were not fresh; some were starting to rot when I picked the box up. 2) Veggies and Fruits tasted terrible; the grapes were extremely sour and the heirloom were not flavorful. 3) Portion are meager for the price; the portion is really for a single person with an appetite of a bird; my other CSA was much more generous. I am so happy that my trial with Eatwell has ended because I can go back to my former CSA program. read more

My household and I have been Eatwell members for... I dunno... over two years now. We love it. The veggies are delicious, the tomatoes to die for, and I'm absolutely addicted to the rosemary salt. And being connected to a real, working, subject-to-the-slings-and-arrows-of-nature-and-man farm has been invaluable. Unfortunately, a CSA subscription hasn't had the hoped-for effect of making me eat more healthily. I've only discovered how delicious fresh, local organic veggies are on a pizza. read more

as the quintessential meat and potatoes girl, I couldn't get excited when my boyfriend mentioned that he got the organic box next week. I had visions of turnip soup and the like. While he'll happily eat that rabbit food, there's generally some fruits and vegetables in our every other week box that I can get excited about-cherries, strawberries, zuchhini, herbs, corn, spices-the list goes on and on. One of the things I like most about Eatwell is the newsletter that comes with the box, chockfull of recipes for items in the box and an update on what's going on at the farm. In May, we went to the farm for strawberry picking-a bargain at $1/pint.. It was neat to be able to wander around the farm. There's also an overnight at the farm in August to showcase their tomatoes. Nigel and crew can also be found at the Ferry Building on Saturdays. The convenience of being able to pick up a box just three blocks from the house, at Modern Times-open until 9pm-works well with my schedule, and I like knowing that we're supporting local farmers and eating fresh, organic produce. read more

Are the reviews I just read about Eatwell Farm the same Eatwell that I tried for the 4 week trial period? Can't be... I don't expect organic produce to be showcase beautiful. It's not waxed, polished and done up. It's, well, more au natural. A majority of the produce I received from Eatwell Farm was highly blemished, bruised, split, and in some cases, overly ripe to the point of being smooshy and soggy. Even it had been waxed and polished, it wouldn't have been pretty. It's expected for there to be a worm or a few little bugs in an organic produce box..but when my red chard looked more like swiss cheese (not in color, but with the large holes eaten through). Eww.. There wasn't a whole lot left for me to use. Fresh, organic tomatoes have a slight sweetness.. a summer fresh flavor, if you will. While the small cherry-type tomatoes from Eatwell were good, the larger romas and other varietys were mealy and lacked any flavor. You know, actually, most of the produce seemed to lack flavor.. the necatarines never ripened, stayed rock hard, and when we tried them every few days there was just no flavor. My son said they tasted like cardboard. It was a dissappointment each week to pick up my produce box in the east bay and finding it sitting in full, bright, sunlight and the produce inside either wilting or saturated with water. I thought one of the criteria for being a drop off point was to have a covered, shaded location? I gave Eatwell the benefit of the doubt for the first few weeks. It didn't get better for me. At the end of the trial period, my husband asked "you're not going to renew for that sub-standard produce again, are you?". No, honey, I am not. One great thing about Eatwell are the eggs. The eggs are REALLY good. Awesome flavor, great consistancy, delish! I would give the eggs alone 5 starts. That said, the cooler they are stored in at the pick up location is room temp. Even if I pick up by noon, the ice pack inside has no cold feel to it at all. In fact, the ice pack doesn't have any condensation on it.. maybe it wasn't frozen to begin with? The produce is 2, maybe 2 1/2 stars. read more

My Eatwell box arrives every other Thursday at the Buddhist center in the Mission and it is the highlight of my week. Like the prize in crackerjacks, I never know what I am going to get. It's like Christmas morning every two weeks. Their produce is always fresh and tasty. I even eat turnips now! Their newsletter is helpful. They supply easy recipes and tips on food storage. I dry all the herbs I get, making them a gift that keeps on giving. Getting a CSA box has forced me to eat healthier and more consciously. My biggest gripe is that I now know when certain veggies are in season, forcing me to be aware that seeing "staple" veggies year round in the grocery store is wrong. I also get the eggs which are delicious and beautiful. When I cook or bake with them you can see and taste a huge difference in the quality of the food. Eatwell taught me first-hand an important tenet: the CSA (community-supported agriculture) rules. But unless a pickup location becomes available closer to where I live or I arrange to be a pickup site myself, I'm apprehensive about renewing my membership with Eatwell. I will say that the eight weeks or thereabouts starting in late February of this year that I held stock in this local farm were filled with some of the greenest, sweetest, freshest spring produce I have ever put in my mouth, including restaurants that use seasonal and local ingredients. Though apples are hit-and-miss, Eatwell Farm has kale, spinach, butternut squash, and citrus fruit (from a partnership with a separate grove, as with the apples, I believe?) down to a science. As delicious as the glorious bounty was, spring was a tough time for a trial, since for months on end the produce is often the same week after week. I loved getting kale and spinach and making a nice breakfast of sauteed greens with an over-easy Eatwell Farm egg (the best, but quite the indulgence at $8/dozen), but I craved variety. I would bet that summer's a good time to hop back on the wagon. Why haven't I signed up again already? Pros: local, seasonal produce that is often at the peak of quality. You'll feel good about eating the stuff. Plus, it opens up room for creativity; before my trial kale, chard, green garlic and turnips were not on my regular grocery list, and I had a ball trying and coming up with new recipes to great success. I think boyfriend liked that part quite a bit, too. You also get a bunch of an herb each week, which I think many people are hesitant to purchase themselves. Definitely forces one to think outside their comfort zone. The proprietors of the farm, Molly and Nigel, are obviously passionate about their products and compassionate towards the environment, offering the goods at designated pickup sites instead of wasting resources on delivery and always trying to reduce and eventually eliminate their reliance on plastic. Cons: Venturing out of comfort zones is fun for only so long until it starts getting redundant and, well, comfortable. That, plus the lack of choice as to what to eat every week, may be a deterrent in committing to a CSA. Also, they don't deliver, which, while very noble (see Pro description above), can be very inconvenient when the closest pick-up site is a couple miles away from this carless adventurer. If you're in the market for a CSA program, Eatwell is definitely one to try. There are some cheaper options, but at $26 per box of vegetables and fruit enough to feed the two of us who sustain on a mostly vegetarian diet and the quality to which Molly and Nigel dedicate themselves, I would say it probably doesn't get much much better than this. If you have a few more bucks to dish out and love eggs whose yolks gleam a sunny orange and whose whites fluff when you cook 'em, spring for a dozen. read more

I do support eating locally and organically and all that jazz, but the mix of produce is wrong for us. Which is not to say I've not been converted to eating veggies I did not before. I lovingly embrace the leafy greens like chard and kale now. But, even now, there's inevitably a veggie or two I don't want, and the recipes in the newsletter don't magically transform beets into something I dream about. I ended up throwing the turnips and radishes and beets into the swap box rather than have them linger in my refrigerator until they rot. But, I cannot take another vegetable in exchange because everyone else has thrown their turnips into the box as well. And yet, we're somehow supposed to accept this as part of the deal. The CSA system guilts you into accepting food you're not thrilled about and charges you a premium for it. In some ways, I feel like I'm paying for a principle and not a product. And, maybe that's OK, but the mix of produce lately is veering away from what I would buy independently and $30/box is too much for principle. I've also always been disappointed that the Eatwell boxes have such a low proportion of fruit. The taste of organic fruit is completely worth the premium price, but you get a handful of midget apples and tangerines in the winter and you're left dreaming of strawberry season. Still, I didn't hate Eatwell and would still recommend it if you just gotta have butternut squash every week in the fall. Some good points: Flavor was mostly good. We loved the sweeter vegetables (spinach, carrots, etc.), but, yes we would get sour and/or tasteless fruit. I felt the quality was pretty good, despite some other reviewers' comments. Eatwell also encourages you to contact them if something is less than stellar for quality control and they usually reimbursed you with extra produce the following week. I also loved the newsletter. Nigel is always frank about what it takes to run an organic farm in this business climate, and I've always appreciated the education. I love these guys! We just finished our 4-box trial and are about to sign up to 12 boxes. I am also signing up my mum as a mother day present. They include a newsletter to every box with updates from the farm and cool simple recipes with some of the items in the box. The newsletter makes for the 5th star. We have been getting our CSA box from Eatwell for a few months now and every week it has blown us away! It's just two of us and we always finish everything. The oranges are out of this world and like a few others have said, the eggs are just delicious! The box is always packed full of fresh veggies, fruit and an informative newsletter with yummy recipes every week. Picking up our box is pretty much the highlight of the week :) We are very excited to visit the farm for strawberry picking at one of their upcoming events and hopefully meet the wonderful owners. I think it's great that they have a subscription that allows for two boxes a month (as opposed to every week) which is just right for our household of two. It all starts on Friday. I wait for a little email detailing the freshest produce that will hit my fridge the following Wednesday. I plan some tasty recipes to get excited to eat my tasty vegetables and get creative in the kitchen understanding the mechanics behind how to incorporate fresh and different produce into my eating patterns. The experience and participation in a collective group is more rewarding than words can express. Eatwell Farms provides consistent, high quality, affordable produce to a convenient pick up location in SF. Their newsletters are addicting, their recipes are delicious, and their efforts are well loved by people like me. Five stars all the way. LOCAL AND ORGANIC! this wonderful CSA ( community supported agriculture) is based in Dixon, CA, near Sacramento, but they deliver weekly boxes to a number of sites in SF. here's a list of what we got this week: broccoli stir-fry mix arugula red scarlet turnips onions napa cabbage spinach rome beauty apples carrots mandarins tomatillos and Fresh EGGS! the manager, Molly, is really nice, and treats us customers wonderfully. it's gotten me back into cooking rather than heating up food. super fresh and so tasty, great recipes for the foods you may not be as familiar with. If only I could give a 10 star review: Eatwell would get those 10 stars! There is a special something about Thursdays that I love. I get to pick up our Eatwell Farm veggie box. This feels like opening up a present every week! Fresh, yummy veggies, fruits and eggs. I love reading the newsletter about what is going on on the farm. It makes me feel connected and good about the food I eat. I'm very happy to support a farm that takes such good care of their land. Organic, permaculture, loving care of their animals: it just makes my day (or week, or health). The veggies are just beautiful, the fruits delicious and their eggs are the best I've ever had. Then there are the farm events. I love them! Strawberry picking, pumpkin party, any reason to spend some time on their farm feels like a golden ticket to me! I've been an Eatwell Community Supported Agriculture Member for about 10 years. I've come and gone a few times during that time and am always so so happy when I return to getting my bi-weekly CSA Produce Box. Just this morning I made Scrambled Pasture Raised Eggs w/ Fresh Spinach, Green Garlic & Herbs. They have a very diverse box with at least 12-14 different vegetables in it each week, the most amazing strawberries!!! My family & I have traveled up to the farm in Dixon to attend their strawberry picking days. And the farm has been so kind as to invite my whole extended family to their Summer Solstice Party last year! Being a member of this farm really makes me feel like a member of my family is farming for me.. Thinking about my food, my health, and my enjoying of life each week when they pack these boxes for me! I can't say enough about how amazing the Farmer Nigel is! He & his office staff is always supper attentive at helping me whenever I need it. Plus each week I get a wonderful email & printed newsletter with recipes that are developed each week by the farmer's wife, Lorraine. She is an amazing chef and does such a wonderful job with helping us use ALL the ingredients in the box each week! They call it a NO WASTE Box... I would NEVER use Eatwell Farms. They are more than dishonest. After I did all the work of obtaining 10 names, they have decided to not use my home as a drop off location. Kind of seems like bait and switch to me and VERY dishonest. I really appreciate the effort you have made to get people interested in joining our CSA. My experience has been that although people express interest, that does not necessarily turn into membership. I realize looking at it from your perspective it may not seem like any additional effort would go into a new site, and since we are in the neighborhood, it might seem like a no brainer. I can assure you that is not the case. That is why we were reluctant right from the start. I am very sorry you have put so much effort into finding new members for us, I should have followed my better judgement, knowing that it doesn't really make sense for us to put a drop site one block away from an existing site. How do I start? This is more than a food box; it's like joining a community. And you can be a distant cousin and get your produce (and lovely eggs, and extra add-ons) and that's it, or you can actually go up and visit the farm. They have canning and picking events and a newsletter with every box. You also learn what is really in season here in California: lovely tomatoes in the summer, and delicious yams in the fall. Their customer service is spot on and it's easy to start up and to stop. I say give it a try! read more

I've just had my first 4 weeks as a CSA member of Eatwell Farm. It's been a wonderful experience. Of course the produce and eggs are delicious and nothing beats that farm fresh produce. But reading Lorraine's newsletter, hearing about what's going on at the farm, getting inspired by other member's and their recipes all contribute to the feeling that I'm connected to my the food that nourishes me in a rewarding way. Eatwell Farm is a wonderful CSA program. The boxes are well sized and the produce is always great. The tomatoes are probably the best I've ever had. The eggs are on a different level than store bought eggs. If you've never had pasture raised eggs I highly recommend trying them out. The best part is the farm's owner Nigel. He firmly believes that the CSA means the farm is for the community and hosts many events at there. They have a campground so many of the events include an overnight with a farm breakfast in the morning. Nigel and his family are very welcoming and we always have a great time. It really sets them apart from most other CSAs. read more

I've been a happy Eatwell CSA member for the last ~3 years. The box/veggies are great and the farm is a true community - weekly newsletters written with care, events to bring people to the farm (we've gone up to pick olives for the last 3 years), and recipes shared by members. My comparison is a CSA in New York, and I can say Eatwell is leaps and bounds more flexible - you can skip a box if needed, and you pay as you go vs all up front for a season. read more

We are members of Eatwell Farm's box share program. We get a beautiful full box of organic delicious vegetables and fruits every other week. Of course you can get a box every week and also they sell delicious organic eggs. You can also order extras! I got 20 pounds of "seconds" of beautiful tomatoes, of all colors. I made a batch of orange tomato sauce to go with chili Rellenos. We also made gazpacho. And I put up about 4 quarts of canned tomatoes of different colors. The nectarines we got last week were sweet as candy. They delivered to handy pick up locations all over the bay area. Go on their website and check it out. You'll love this box! read more

Amazing produce, eggs, lavender, softers and especially, the family! Nigel Walker and his family are some of the nicest people out there. You know when you taste the delicious romanesco in the fall or the heirloom tomatoes in the summer, that all kinds of love was poured into growing and harvesting those beauties! I couldn't say enough about this amazing farm, and if you're looking for a CSA in the Bay Area, there's no hesitation that the Eatwell Farm community is the greatest one. i tried out eatwell for 4 boxes under their trial membership last year and i thought they were pretty good. in the end, i ended up subscribing to a different farm, because i felt like their box sizes fit better with my veggie needs. but before i switched, i was introduced to a completely new fruit! have you heard of the pawpaw?... google it. it exists. there's even a fan club. i'm not joking. i would recommend subscribing to the weekly box and sharing it with other people. during my trial, my bf and i did the every-other-week option because we didn't want to drown in veggies, but stuff that ended up sitting around until the second week were never that appetizing, so they just sat around longer and longer and well, you get the idea. read more

I've been an Eatwell CSA member for more years than I can recall -- certainly going back to the late 20th century. I've stayed with Eatwell because I feel like part of an extended family, tied to the land on which our family's dinner makings are grown. Eatwell Farm has had--and continues to have--a profoundly healthful impact on Bay Area households and families like ours. Thanks to Eatwell, I know what a fresh picked fava bean looks and tastes like (having picked them off a bush on the farm), and how delicious Tokyo turnips are--especially right out of the CSA box. Because of the many wonderful farm events for CSA members and guests, my daughter knows how beautiful and well cared for the land is where her food grows, has seen the chickens that lay the exquisitely delicious eggs she eats (and has gotten to hold them as chicks), and has experienced the joy of eating her absolute fill of strawberries fresh picked from the field. Nigel and Loraine are deeply committed to organic farming, permaculture, and even sustainable chicken breeding (with their black australorp flock). Loraine teaches children's cooking classes, shares delicious menus with every week's newsletter, and her softers (naturally fermented flavored "sodas") are out of this world. And don't even get me started about the EGGS! They are the best I've ever tasted. The also sell wonderful cosmetic products made from farm produce (like lavender). I always have to have a jar of the lavender-calendula ointment on hand for cuts, rashes and the like. It works wonders! I can't speak highly enough about Eatwell Farm and the folks who run it. Please consider signing up for a 4-box introductory subscription (with eggs!), and come to the farm for a weekend event. It could be life changing. read more

We have been with this farm for over 10 years. They supply our family with tasty, healthy produce and eggs each week. It really doesn't get any better than Eatwell. Not only do we get fresh organic veggies and fruits each week, we also get to go to the awesome farm events. Tomato sauce canning on-the-farm! Strawberry days! Garlic braiding! Pumpkin harvest! ...just to name a few. And we camp out on the farm at least once per year. Yes, they are at the Ferry Building but they also have a CSA delivery where you get a box of produce weekly or biweekly. If you're going out of town or have to much food in your fridge, just put your box on hold for a week.Need extra fruit, eggs, chicken broth, just add it on to your weekly order. So easy. I've been a member of the CSA for six months now and can't imagine ever stopping! It's made eating seasonally and healthy so much easier, more accessible and affordable. The weekly newsletters always have great recipe ideas for how to use up all the produce -- although I never seem to have an issue with that :) It's the best of the farmers market delivered to my door every week! The team at Eatwell is also incredibly helpful and responsive for any questions or putting orders on hold etc. Can't recommend their CSA enough! read more

Eatwell is as good as it gets! From my very first review in May of 07, Nigel and his staff have taken big strides to get their message out to their community. They now have a farm blog, improved website, and post videos on youtube. I am now a host for members to pick up their boxes, and it couldn't be a better experience. read more

I love my Eatwell farm weekly CSA! They deliver to s a stop just a few blocks from my home and each week is a new delight of vegetables and fruits. I add pasture raised eggs to each delivery. There is great value in the cost of the box, a equal order at your local organic market would easily cost twice as much but. You can't get eggs like this at whole foods or trader joes! The flavor is so rich and just as a fresh chicken egg should be. Try the CSA or find them at a local farmers market. You won't be disappointed! read more

I've been a member of this CSA for about a year and half and only changed because it was no longer easy for me to pick up my box. Communication (email mostly) was very good, boxes and produce were a good size and they do very well trying to mix up the variety. There's also a nice amount of options such as add on for eggs (the yolks are noticeably different and richer in flavor compared to store brought eggs), lavender, flavored salts and sugars). Their website is also very well maintained with the usual box contents, blog but it also contains information about each of the items they produce (storage conditions, etc) As with all CSAs and fresh produce, you should pick through and unpack your box as soon as you are able to. The newsletter usually will let you know which items are best eaten soon (usually the fruits, which just means they're ripe and going to be super good) which ones can keep a little longer. I would say that the most wonderful thing about this CSA were the events hosted at the farm are fabulous and really hold onto the idea of community and family. And also on the plus side, tomato season is quite fabulous but my most favorite items were the sugar sweet, melt in your mouth melons I had one summer from them :D read more
