Is the Red Cross really that uptight about tardiness or do their employees just not care about the massive blood shortage we have right now? I do not appreciate constantly being called/texted about how much the Red Cross needs blood, and then take time out of my day to come and donate, and then be turned away for being 5 freaking minutes late.

The General First Aid/CPR/AED class (which lasts 5 hours) is sometimes required by an employer but I recommend taking the class just in case there is an emergency at home. You are not required to buy books or supplies for the class itself but you can purchase kits and books later on. Our instructor was very nice and informative. They are very thorough and I recommend you bring paper and a pen for notes. They offer a Wilderness First Aid class and Pet First Aid course too.
