Slightly esoteric in its nature, it has a lovely selection of natural remedies, essential oils and jewelry all sold by a very knowledgeable and charming vendor. The smell when you come in is so phantastic, this is not your average tourist souvenir shop, you come in and feel welcome, sort of at home, it's hard to describe. Got to chat a bit with the lovely vendor, who is a trained herbalist, and she really knows her stuff, she gave me very good advice for my skin condition and I bought quite some stuff off her, could have bought the whole shop. We went back another time to stock up, sadly we haven't been able to go back to the highlands for a couple of years, I just wish we had a shop like this in Hamburg! I did not want to worry about my hair the next day and braids are a good way to go. The lady who did my hair (I can't recall her name). Did an amazing job! She is from the Isle of Lewis, Stornaway. This is an excellent hairdressers but very, very pricey…read more I have to confess that's it's been a while since I was there last simply because after a 2-hour car journey to reach the salon (although I live 100 miles away, Inverness is my nearest large town) I arrived in good time but was still sitting waiting for my hairdresser to turn up which he eventually did, some 45 minutes later. He was an excellent hairdresser but on reflection, I think they might have offered me a discount for my lengthy wait! I hope things have changed, but do keep an eye on the prices. There is a tariff of prices for the treatments available but somehow I always ended up paying more than I thought I would. For instance, if you are booked in for a colour and cut, you will find that you are also charged for the wash and blow-dry afterwards. This is fair enough but when I book at appointment for a colour & cut I would assume the price includes the wash and dry before and after - it's not as if you have a choice! That said, the stylists are usually excellent and you can be sure you will receive a really good hair 'experience'. But if you're watching the pennies in these credit-crunch times, be sure to find out exactly how much you're likely to be charged!
