Unfortunately I have to modify my original review. Isobel and a female employee did an excellent job cleaning my home the day before t-day. I was thrilled. For the next clean Isobel assigned a man to my home - she assured me this guy was "REALLY good" and would be my regular cleaner. He arrived on time, I showed him around my home, pointed out a few specifics, wished him a merry x-mas and left. Nearly 5 hrs later I come home and he's still there! He informed me that he broke a glass fleur de lis ornament which was sitting in a bowl on a window sill. My response was something like "Oh geez, really? Bummer." He said he was trying to "get the hair off the window sill" and it broke. (The "hair" was fishing line.) I asked where it was thinking I could maybe glue it back together. He said it was in the trash "because it broke into a million pieces!" this phrase was, in my opinion, given in a rather petulant tone - as if it was my fault glass broke into a million pieces! I again gently expressed some remorse but believe I also said something along the lines of accidents happen. I cautioned him to be more careful in my home. I noticed the open cabinet in our dining room filled with crystal glasses. I told him not to clean the glasses or those two shelves but to do everything else. A few minutes later I went into the office where he was to retrieve something from my desk and saw him pushing a cloth around the things on my desk. I asked, "You're going to take everything off the desk before you clean it, right?" he responded with "That's what I've been doing." I responded with "Ok" and again left the room. I knew he wasn't taking things off - I just caught him pushing a cloth AROUND the items on the desk. But I'm not a nagger and assumed by making that statement I was clearly saying again (as I told him when he first arrived to take everything off the desks) to take everything off. Not more than 15 min later he said that he was finished. I was surprised as I knew he had an entire office to dust, the dining room to dust and both rooms to vacuum. I said "Oh wow! Did you get the entire dining room?" He said "Behind the gate? Yeah." (We have a long gate blocking off the bulk of the dining room from our dogs.) I said ok, walked him to the door, wished him a merry x-mas again and he left. I did a brief inspection and found that there was a patch of dust on my desk. The top of the half tile wall in our bathroom wasn't clean. And the entire dining room had absolutely NOT been cleaned or vacuumed. So I called Isobel and left a vmail asking her to call me. (After my call with Isobel I did a more in-depth inspection of my home and discovered the cleaner didn't want to go through all the work of REMOVING items from the surface to be cleaned - which is how he managed to wipe so hard at "a piece of hair" {aka fishing line} and yank the glass piece out of the bowl! Other surfaces had been "cleaned" in a similar manner and other areas completely missed) Ten min later she texted asking how much she owed for the fluer de lis. I texted back asking her to please call me and she did. I told her I was disappointed as he 1. broke something, 2. missed dust on my desk and a couple other minor spots (that I knew of at the time) and 3. lied about cleaning my dining room. She said he felt really bad about breaking the fleur de lis. She said she couldn't believe he missed dust on my desk - I offered to text a photo of it. She responded with the fact that he's really sensitive to smoke (we smoke in our office) and he's a great, super serious singer so really sensitive to smoke. She then said I must have misunderstood him about the dining room because he's her best friend and such a great cleaner and all her clients love him and give him big tips. I said misunderstanding aside he didn't clean the dining room and I didn't want him back again. Her response was "Well, he didn't think your personalities matched so he doesn't want to come back either." My jaw hit the desk. I was so stunned at such an obnoxious statement that all I could say was "Seriously? He said that? We didn't talk about anything personal!" What I should have said - and what I'm saying now - is personality has absolutely NOTHING to do with someone's ability to properly , safely and completely clean a home! That comment has absolutely no validity and is rude and insulting!! I can understand defending your employees - that's commendable. But only to a point. You can't defend an employee at the clients' expense -I wound up paying to have something broken, things not fully cleaned and then was insulted. And Isobel never mentioned reimbursing me for the broken piece in the 15 minutes we were on the phone. So, if Isobel comes to clean your home I would say there's a good chance she's going to do a good job. And so long as you don't have any reason to complain about anything you'll probably be happy. We lived in a shot gun for about 6 years with three dogs. So needless to say for 2 bedroom two bath with 18ft ceilings the job was a bit to chew.
