The overall quality of the job is very high and the crew was professional from start to finish. The yard was cleaned up each day and all garbage was cleaned up daily. I had many other quotes that suggested just replacement shingles and some flashing was all that was required. Patrick pointed out the benefit of adding insulation and using a better quality roofing system. My style of roof has no attic or insulation in the roof so any damage to the roof will show up on the ceiling inside the house. While this was more expensive that just shingles it became obvious when stripping the roof why cutting corners by putting shingles on a low slope roof can cause very expensive damage. United Roofing was recommended to my by a friend. I've dealt with two other roofing companies on other jobs and this company is far superior to them. I have no hesitation recommending them to anyone who asks. I will definitely use them on my next roofing job.

Hired Southern Roofing to do roof on both house and garage and new front and rear doors on house…read more The contractors they sent out to do the work were excellent (the only reason I did not give 0 stars) but if there is one thing I learned from having this work done is to get it in writing. First of all they dropped all the roofing supplies off about a week before they were to start, on our front lawn, the day we were leaving for vacation, you don't leave all that material on someone's front lawn and expect it to be there in a week, had to move it all into my garage. 2nd, we had asked for a new screen door for the back door and specifically asked for one as good or similar to what was on the front door which was close to top of the Anderson line, instead we got the cheapest screen door on the market, no kidding. Asked if when they did the roof could they attach the vent hose from bathroom as we had just installed a new fan, they said yes, they did not and charged us 400+ to come back and do it. Now the paint/finish is starting to peel from bottom of front door, on the outside, apparently the house was too humid for a couple of days and there is too much caulking on our windows??? Will never use them again, they do not give a rats ass about customer service.

Our insurance company only paid for a portion and offered horrible service but the owner at Southern Alberta came through like a knight in shining armour. Our roof was done quickly with little mess, (they came back and took care of any concerns I had). The fellows doing our roof were polite and careful. Later on we needed some extra work done in and around our home, again we got professional and quality work, any issues that came up were handled right away. I would suggest this smaller general contracting company for any of your needs, and they also have great experience dealing with insurance companies!

Be EXTREMELY cautious when dealing with this company. Totally unreliable and unscrupulous business…read morepractices. This company asks for a deposit prior to commencing work but the company owner Richard Magill gets you to pay the deposit to the material supplier instead of his company. The result is that when he doesn't show up to do the job, you cannot get your deposit back because the material is special order and the material supplier will not refund your purchase. So, the roofer, Richard Magill holds you hostage because you can't get your money back and he is free to do the job whenever he wants if he actually wants to do the contracted job. He has no risk because he has not paid any money for the material, you did. He has zero risk and your deposit is now with the material supplier who will not refund specialty ordered products. In addition, once Richard Magill is assured that the material has been paid for he changes the original quote for the job and adds thousands of dollars to the original quote resulting in an even higher price than the original quote. Now you have thousands of dollars in material that you can't return, you can't get a refund and Richard Magill has you at his mercy and committed to doing the job with him whenever he wants or if he wants to complete the job. He gives repeated dates to start the job and never shows up using whatever excuses he can come up with to delay the job. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with SILICONE SOLUTIONS WATERPROOFING unless you are prepared to pay your deposit to a material supplier and are unable to get your money back when Richard Magill doesn't show up to do the job.
