The manager and his wife are very mean to staff. I recently visited this establishment and as I sat in for breakfast I heard the Manager and his wife speaking very rudely to the African American night clerk who was very kind to me and my wife. I asked her for her name and she said her name is Bee. If you visit please be kind to her and show her some grace she told us that she has been there for just a few months. Personally I will never give this place my business again and once the managers walked to the back I told her that I'm sorry that she was spoken to in that manner and in front of customers. I also told her that's considered discrimination by her employers which she told me she was aware I will be complaining to corporate about the way she was treated. read more

This is a hidden gem hotel. I was a little skeptical of staying at an Econolodge since I hadn't for years, and didn't think Econolodges were very good. BUT, this one is different. It was the most clean hotel i've stayed in probably ever (other than overseas). This couple takes so much pride in their hotel. Everything worked and was perfect. The lobby and room was spotless. The plants and flowers were tended to in front. The bathroom sparkled. Their breakfast room was very friendly and clean. They greeted me at the check-in. They called me right after I checked out to let me know I'd left my phone charger in the room. They were top-class people. I noticed some local contractors were staying there which showed they'd found a good place. There were also some nice cars in the parking lot, so I assume other people know how good this place is. I would highly recommend it. read more

Unless this is your last resort, stay away! They come into your room every day to clean there is no exception's to this. When they come in to the room they wipe down the toilet and empty the trash cans. They also look around your room to see what you have. The male owner is always watching you. He is rude and odd. The male owner lied about having breakfast in the morning. We were told not to leave our air conditioner on all day because it will start smelling like smoke and will build up a lot of condensation. The room was ridiculously hot when we arrived. The halls are hot, the thermostat in the hallway was set at 75. I brought my own cleaning supplies since I was staying a week and I'm so glad that I did the room was disgusting. The hotel itself smelled terrible! read more

The hotel was an excellent accommodation choice for my travel needs. The manager was nice when checking in. It was very quiet during my two days stay. The hotel was conveniently close to many of the major roads and/or attractions of the area. I was there for a family reunion and it turns out my cousin and her family were staying. Considering that it was very quiet, you would never had known that anyone was staying there. Although that may seem negative, it is not. For my travel preferences, I enjoy that. If you need a place to relax while golfing, vacationing, or passing through, definitely check out this hotel. Enjoy your stay! read more

I'm very disappointed in the quality of the Econolodge in Southern Pines. We entered the room and immediately smelled smoke and the air quality was low. The rooms felt dirty. Unfortunately we couldn't have a room refunded because we missed the five minute rule refund policy that the hotel had (because we first have it the benefit of the doubt and went to dinner). I would definitely not recommend anyone stay here unless you had nowhere else to go. However I will say that the nice couple running the place were friendly but the hotel is still lower quality then was presented on the Econo pictures or website. Great value. Convenient location. The owners/employees are very nice and seem to be constantly improving their property. I've stayed here for 1 or 2 nights five different times over the past 4 months and have no complaint. The room has always been clean and comfortable, the shower/bathroom work fine and the beds are comfortable. The internet works great, TV has plenty of choices and the parking area is well lit and secure. The breakfast is a bit sparse but it's enough to get you on your way. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend friends/family stay here if they are looking for the basic hotel/motel amenities done well. read more

Recently stayed here for the first time in a few years. The people that operate this location are still friendly. One even remembered me from my previous stays. Rooms have been updated with 40" HDTV. Time Warner Cable is used for the tv programming. TV system worked well. Another highlight is the free wifi - I had a very strong and trouble free signal. Bed was comfortable. There is still a problem with the policy of the management on heat / air conditioning. I came in on one of the extreme cold nights in NC and entered a room where the heat was OFF. Took several hours for the room to be somewhat comfortable. The next day after my room had been cleaned I noticed that the heat had been turned down by 5 degrees and the fan setting moved to low. As a guest I have the right to set the temperature to how I like it and the staff needs to leave it alone. Breakfast is cereals, breads, and eggo type waffles that can be heated in a toaster. For the price this is a good value lodging choice. read more

Terrible experiebce and the manager is a total bitch! I booked a room for my fiancé and future step son because my fiancés car broke down. I put the room in mind and my name and my fiancés because I was 2.5 hours away and figured she would probably be asleep when I got there. So whenever I got to the hotel and tried to get a key they lied and told me that my fiancé left and took the deposit that i put down and informed me that I wasn't allowed to sleep in the room that I paid go for. Unlucky me I literally deactivated my debit card on the way to the hotel bc fraudulent activity and didn't think to grab cash before I left the house. so here I was at this hotel that I booked and wasnt even allowed to stay in with no cash, no debit card, low on gas, my fiancés phone ran out of data so I couldn't get in touch with her. I literally had no other choice but sleep in my car. The next morning my fiancé activated her phone and come to find out that her and my futures stepson actually did stay in the room!! They blatantly lied to me for no reason and refused to let me stay in the room that I paid for! Will never go back here. The general manager is also a major bitch,she refused to talk to me but was so rude to my fiancé and even tried to keep the deposit because my chanc fiance was 5 minutes late checking out!! That's $10 a minute that's bs!! Never in my life had so much problems trying to get in my room at a hotel. Super 8 probably got their shit together better. They better reimburse me is all I know! Making me sleep in my car and not stat in my room for no apparent reason at all! My fiance said she threatened to kick her out as well but no apparent reason! She called the law to clear it up To ensure they couldn't kick her out of our room for no reason! Wouldn't even recommend this place to someone I hate! read more

Slightly better that what you would expect from a motel in this price range. Nice sized and well lit parking lot, located right off the highway. Pet-friendly for a fee and the periphery of the parking lot served as a decent place to walk the pups in the morning and just before bed. Our room was fine. Worn and not smelling so fresh but it was otherwise clean. Beds firm but linen clean. Good pressure in the shower. Standard toiletries. Nice TV and fridge. I wouldn't want to stay here for an extended period of time but it served its purpose and was easy on the wallet. We stay in Choice chain hotels often and I've been in much worse than this one. read more

Stopped here on my way to Florida from Pennsylvania. Nice rooms, friendly staff. Had a boat trailer and didnt have a problem with parking or security. Parking lot is well light and the hotel is off the beaten path. I make this trek twice a year, I will be stopping here on the way down and back. read more

Do not stay here. I had to stay here for 20 days. They don't care to put a smoking room very close from a non-smoking room, a few days ago I had to leave the hotel because of the bad smell. The neighborhood is dangerous, people are shot within less than 300 ft from Hotel. The foreign Hotel manager don't take care of the guests, someday I had to assist a old couple (with a wheelchair) to get in their car at a snowing day, the guys from hotel didn't nothing to help that people. The cleaning people don't know what the sign "do not disturb mens", they also threw away food from my room (pizza, half empty water bottle). The internet is like dial-up, ultra slow. The breakfast is a joke. Frozen food. Sometimes out something and nobody cares. The child of the manager takes the guests desk as our personal lan house. read more

This is a solid three-star place, with four-star customer service despite the basic accommodations. Management was very amenable to my early checkin and late checkout needs, and to having family stay with me one night but not the second night (wedding situation with different departure dates). Even though the digs are ultra-basic, the staff and managers took pride in their work, and for the price point, I think all in all it was fair. The best part is that you can walk to downtown from here, and to my knowledge there's no other option this close to downtown for this low a cost. Breakfast was admittedly a low point. Need to include both more and better options - some pieces of whole fruit, more than two hardboiled eggs for the whole three-hour breakfast buffet period, and some kind of healthy cereal or whole grain toast would really add to the assortment of packaged donuts and muffins. Nonetheless, if budget and downtown access rather than luxury were my aims (as they were for this last trip), I'd stay here again! I have to say, I am not a fan of Econolodge, but I decided to stay here and it was a good choice. The rooms look like they have been recently renovated. They were very clean, and again, I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Pinehurst. read more

Say they updated rooms but need to update the cleanliness standards. Pillow cases looked dirty and when I laid down in bed to sleep I woke up with ants on me. Also, Had my dog with me and when I went to turn in my key, he peed on a bush by the door. Had an employee start to yell at me and threaten a $30 fine for him peeing in a non designated area. Yet there was no signage or instructions by front desk about this. I would not stay here.. read more

Hidden gem. Suite is large with private bedroom with a price that is lower than that of a standard room in nearby hotels. Easy on off of Morgantown Road at Highway 1. Owners very pleasant. I think it does not allow pets which is GREAT for those of us without them. read more

During my stay they adjusted their housekeeping schedule to match mine. The room was clean and nice. The TV was good. It was quiet. They have internet and I have no complaints.
