We stayed at the Pagosa Springs Econolodge on December 24, 2021. Checkin was easy, and the room was very clean. But after we returned from dinner, it was apparent from near continuous barking that the guest next door had left their dog in the room unattended. When I walked down to the front desk and said "Hello!" a couple times to notify them of the problem, no one responded. I wasn't the only guest to notice the barking. There was another man in the hall who told me he'd tried to contact someone at the front desk with no luck. I went back to my room and plugged in the phone, intending to dial 0. The front desk rang me instead. When I told the attendant there was a dog alone and barking in the room next door, she said the owners were in the spa so they were on the premises, and leaving the dog in the room under those circumstances complied with hotel policy. I hung up at that point, since it was clear no one was going to contact the owners and the dog would continue to bark. Hotel policy says no unattended dogs in a room *without any exceptions stated*, or you'll be asked to leave and no refund given. Why is it ok to do this under any circumstances, in a complete lack of consideration of all other guests? This is the last time I ever stay at an Econolodge anywhere. read more

We stayed here 4 nights in August 2021. Our room was clean and fine and we loved the view of the garden. They have a take away breakfast which includes packaged sweat rolls, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit. They could make improvements by adding Quaker Oats oatmeal and boxed cereal that people can make in their rooms. They did have "children" type juices. The breakfast, although appreciated, was not great. One huge suggestion would be better coffee that is not watered way down. It was the worst I've ever had, so watered down. It has a good location with restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance. Almost forgot, their WiFi is frustrating, works sometimes. read more

Look, it's in the name, ECONO...for Cheap people like myself. If you just need a place to wash and sleep for the night, it's fine. I wouldn't stay more than that. We had a room across from the indoor pool, all we could smell was bleach. Down the hall, the workout room...the entire hallway smelled of sweat. And that bed for the night...worst than a college dorm room. I'm going 3 and not two because I didn't get woke up by noise or strange people trying to open our door... read more

I travel extensively and try to stay in choice motels. This motel was a breath of fresh air from normal econoldges great repair, very clean, well appointed rooms, attention to detail, all at an affordable rate. Look no further Update: 101519. Buyer beware Just to say it was clean But dated As for the continental breakfast every morning of the 3 mornings we have been here They do not have anything out there but a banana at 9am Yes 9 am and once at 8 am Another thing is checkout is at 11 ; right ? Well 2 times within 20 minutes two different men entered my room and the. I said excuse me can i help you? Your checking out ? Yes I am at 11 not 9. Then next a very nasty man came and did the same thing and kind you I paid for the room again the night before So why would they be entering the room at 9 am not after 11 and 2 times within 20 minutes. Additionally they haven't applied my stats to my choice rewards so now I get to call corporate and that won't go well because I will not be back. That concerned me this morning. read more

I Stayed two night here during July 4th weekend and I can't say enough how amazing this place was to me. I ended up stranded in pagosa springs after hitting a deer and they were able to get me a room for a couple of nights, even changing my room to accommodate for my family to come get me to take me back to Texas since my car was totaled. The rooms were all very clean with plenty of soaps and shampoos. The A/C worked great and the shower was warm. Mary was so sweet to me along with her family who all run the hotel. Even went above and beyond to offer me a ride to explore downtown when she did not have to. I was alone and in an I fortunate situation and they treated me so well I felt very comfortable and grateful. Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality and your generosity had not gone unnoticed. read more

This is a rare mom and pop run chain in a location that is Tres touristy and thus chronically overpriced for hotel rooms. I have never stayed in a place as good for the money here as either Durango or other nearby smaller towns or Alamosa. Pagosa Springs has nice weather and scenery which, in my opinion, the uncontrolled developers have ruined. It would not be a destination spot for me as far as I can see. However, if you have to stay here this is a good economy choice. They have a very lovely east Indian style private garden in the back, an indoor pool that could use some additonal heating, and a jacuzzi that is official open at 3 pm but can be used by responsible adults before then. It's the type of chain that seems to attract families with kids that don't have much hotel etiquette training so as a business traveler it's not my first choice but compared to overpriced resorts it will suffice. It's conveniently located within walking distance of several decent restaurants/bars and grills as well as a grocery but my room had not refrigerator. I would stay here again as the staff was most gracious even when I was not. The breakfast isn't that great but personally I hate those things anyway. It is a small hotel but suffers from the typical chain cardboard thin walls. read more

This place turned out to be nicer than I expected. Cheapest room in town (King bed with mini-fridge and microwave). I booked through Southwest.com, and got 750 Rapid Rewards points. Very spacious and clean. Bed was pretty hard and pillows flat, but that seems to be the norm with most moderate/low-priced hotels. Bring your own pillow. I was shocked at the variety and quality in the continental breakfast!! The coffee was great! They had apple juice, orange juice, milk, muffins, cheese danish, bagels, english muffins, toast, multiple kinds of cereal, boiled eggs, fruit...AND....A WAFFLE MAKER!! The waffles were soooo good - fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside!! They also have a pool and a hot tub. Only downside is the location, but luckily it is only 4 miles from downtown Pagosa. However, it is quite close to some restaurants and the Pagosa Brewing Co. I wouldn't mind staying here again! read more

The owner, Mary made me feel so welcome, like it was her house and I was a guest in her house! I was in town for two days to run a trail marathon. She recommended eateries, coffee shops, and the Pagosa Hot Springs. When I told her that sounds like a great idea but I forgot to pack my swim trunks , whala...she comes up with a pair of swim trunks from the lost and found! I also asked her where certain places were in town related to my marathon and she made sure I understood. She drew me maps and wrote down instructions! Never again! The staff was exceptionally rude, more specifically the owner. He accused me of trying to "steal" a free nights stay because we were checking in at 7am on Sunday instead of 3pm on Sunday. That's an interesting perspective! After accusing me of this about 5 times I finally snapped back and told him I didn't appreciate his accusations or berating me. I called to ask if early check in was available and a really nice guy named Martin said it wasn't a problem, fast forward and the owner clearly took issue with it. The owner needs to either train his staff to politely decline/ even lie to say the room isn't available for all it matters if he has a problem with early check in but the accusations and berating is unacceptable. Also the showers don't get that hot. During winter this is an issue because it's very cold and a hot shower is crucial for me in cold weather. Also the price for the stay is ridiculous, I pay the same amount for relatively posh hotels in SF, NY, and the like. I will be sure to never stay here again, mainly because of the owners behavior but also because this is just a poorly run all around with garbages overflowing around the property, no hot shower/ only warm, and other lodgers complaining of the poor customer service as well. Seems like the owner hates what he does and just doesn't care to make it a clean, pleasant, friendly stay for people. He could certainly benefit from taking a page from Martin's book where customer service was concerned. Perhaps Martin or someone else trained by Martin should run the front desk. read more

Place really needs work and upgrades. Better check out at the time of check-in because everything is shut down by morning! Cont. breakfast advertised as open at 6:30 am, I left at 6:40 and it still wasn't open, plus there is no coffee maker or coffee in the room - good luck if you choose to stay there! read more

Price is high for the quality of the rooms! The beds are hard, the rooms are tiny. The breakfast is your typical cold cereal and waffle maker. Only stay here as a last resort. read more

Very nice friendly owners. I usually do not care for Econo lodges but this hotel is very nice. If you are taking a vacation you will like this hotel. I do travel 4 to 6 nights a week and would suggest this hotel to anyone. The owners take good care of the facility you would not know that the hotel is 11 years old it looks newer. They have a nice court yard to relax in on the outside. read more

Very clean, very nice people, and the best deal in Pagosa Springs. Great patio so you can sit outside - basic cold breakfast, but good variety. Didn't care for the coffee, but we are coffee freaks, so no big deal. Rooms were very nice with plenty of space. Close to some very good restaurants with easy get in and get out. Since they don't have the microwave/frig/coffee maker that the more expensive hotels have, bring your own cooler and a small coffee maker if they are important. Vending machines in the lobby along with ice. We'll be back. We didn't want to spend all of our money on a hotel room so we could spend more doing other things and this was the best place in town. read more
