I really struggled with this review. I went back and forth between a 3 and a 5. The place and the surrounding area were just beautiful. We loved sitting outside on the deck with our coffee just taking in the view and enjoying the relative peace. The owners were so welcoming and the breakfast was amazing. The problem was the noise level, in particular the dogs. 1. The owners have 2 house dogs. One of them was fine, the other barked every time someone showed up- including a late check in Friday night. 2. Saturday morning at 6 am the late check in people were up and working around their cabin. Dogs were barking, people were yelling and they were putting up pen fences for the menagerie of animals they brought with them. 3. The kitchen is pretty close to the rooms and the same person who was yelling and chasing her Dogs was in the kitchen chatting and laughing. At this point I was pissed and pretty grumpy. The coffee and tasty breakfast soothed my anger and we had a wonderful day. 4. 5:40 am Sunday the f'ing dogs next door were barking again. My husband actually yelled out the window at them. Again I was very pissed. Although the owners themselves were fabulous and we loved the area, I don't think we would come back. We didn't sleep very well and didn't feel relaxed at all. read more

Not sure how to rate this place. Like the other reviewer mentioned, I also struggled between 2-4 stars at times. Because it was so pretty. I read about this place online and when booking the owner was amazing and helpful. We read great reviews and she seemed nice so we booked it. Cons-- My biggest complaint is the lack of cleanliness. I think I would have rated it better if it were cleaned. I could have overlooked minor issues. But it was beyond gross. We stayed in the cabin house. And my first reaction inside was wow so pretty! However everything I touched had dust on it. The loft was gross. This place needs a deep cleaning. It's really pretty, but so much dust is everywhere. Beds make noises and smell so bad. I really think this place has not been cleaned in years and years. The sheets, bedding, towels everything smelled of mildew and dust. Dog hair was on some of the comforters and cot. We don't think the linens ever got washed. Cobwebs are everywhere indoors and outdoors. Doors and windows are dirty. It was so dusty I would sneeze, my chest was hurting and I kept coughing. Fridge and microwave were dirty. They have not cleaned them in a long time. I hated being indoors because of the smell and how dirty it was. Hard to breathe because of the dust. The bathroom was dirty and had dust everywhere. So I took showers but still felt gross. The towels some had stains on them. Carpets are also gross and stained. I hope she reads this. I'm sorry to give a bad review. But you really need to hire a professional cleaning service. To me it's a bit unprofessional to rent these places out if you never intend to clean them. Invest money to clean, I mean even I wanted to clean it. Maybe hire random people and they can stay here for free so they can clean it? Just giving you suggestions if cost is an issue. Her washer and dryer were really smelly and dirty too. The washer smelled of mold, and had black stuff in it. She needs to throw it away and get a new one. We washed some of our clothes and they smelled like old mattresses. Disorganized--The balcony outside the main cabin breakfast area was pretty, but it's cluttered and dirty too. Underneath her stairs had a lot of stuff. It's really cluttered. Customer service--- was up and down at times. Her and the guy cooking breakfast were kinda moody off and on. I could not figure it out. We needed to have something fixed and she was a bit rude. It kinda irritated me. The man cooking does a good job on breakfast. But he watches you like a hawk. He had sausage one day. And it was gone within minutes. He mentioned once they are gone, he won't make anymore. Which I guess is fair, but I had no idea how limited on food they are. He don't like the spatula in the hasbrowns, so make sure you don't leave any utensil inside the bowls either. He will watch you. It felt a bit odd and uncomfortable at times, just having him watch you get the food. Hot---no air conditioner. And it gets incredibly hot! Omg this place gets muggy and hot. In the daytime, go outside it will be fine. But at night, it's so hot it's hard to get a goodnights rest. You will sweat unless you buy a small fan. Her dogs--She owns several dogs. One dog guards her property pretty good. But also a bit scary. He will come racing towards you in an aggressive manner and bark. They shout at him a lot to stop doing it. It's their property so it's understandable to have a dog. But for us guests, it was a bit scary. Pros---The surroundings are beyond beautiful and serene. Views are nice and you can sit outside and see the horses and the lake. In the mornings you can also see hot air balloons too. The horses on site are so amazing to see. Breakfast--like people mentioned in reviews they do a great job cooking a yummy meal. I did not know this but it says breakfast is between 8-10am. My suggestion would be to go early and don't be late. Be there exactly at 8am and eat before the food is gone. Most Amenities are provided. Overall I would not stay here again. I was really glad when it was time to leave. The dirty feel was off putting. Between the sneezing and smell of mold. I could not do it again. It's a shame too. It's beyond gorgeous and serene. read more

10/10 would recommend! Didn't get to meet Tom, but met Evelyn and she was friendly and welcoming. Gave us a free upgrade to our own cabin since the room we booked in the main lodge was still occupied (apparently the people in it loved it so much they decided to extend their stay). Can't hate on that! The cabin had a lot of heating options so weather was cold but not an issue for us as all. After being on the road for nearly a week Evelyn's home cooked breakfast the next morning was a million times better than any of the other hotel breakfasts from the road. Place is beautiful and feels remote while only being about 15 mins from the hot springs we came for. read more

Got to stay at this lovely oasis for two weeks! My family and I had a wonderful time! Evelyn, Tom, Carolyn, Bill, and Andy were all so accommodating, welcoming, and friendly. Gathering for a delicious homemade breakfast every morning was such a lovely way to start the day. Watching the beautiful horses in the meadow while having coffee on the porch was truly refreshing! Like a scene from the Movie "City Slickers" this place has amazing mountain views! And has everything that you would want on ina home away from home setting. Evelyn and her staff are so friendly, helpful and amazing! They serve a wonderful breakfast- and not only you get to take in the amazing scenery but also the amazing animals around the farm! My wife and I just finished breakfast here. Her birthday was last night and we are very grateful to have found this place. Amazing lodge, great decorating and the couple are very friendly. The lodge accommodations were clean and spacious. While I was a bit worried about the potential of sharing a bathroom with others, Evelyn conveniently arranged the guests so that each room had its own bath. Evelyn was very kind and accommodating and we even got to experience an unexpected BBQ at the lodge the evening we checked in. We got to converse with and meet some of the locals - a great group of people. The breakfast was well prepared and tasted great. Nothing super fancy but that didn't matter to us. Omelets, English muffins, and fruit makes for a perfectly fine breakfast. It was a great stay! read more

We recently stay at Elk Track Bed & Breakfast In August 2021 and with a good cleaning, lots of maintenance and a nicer person working, it would be a great place to stay. Only one window was operable, the handle was broken on the rest of them. When we arrived Evelyn took our payment and showed us our rooms which was in the main house. Having never stayed at a B&B, she didn't explain anything else to us or showed us the public area of the house. While she was out, I had a couple of questions concerning the television remote and her female assistant was very rude complaining about having to leave her laptop to show us how to operate a remote control. When I told her that we would not be staying for breakfast, the assistant was pretty angry. The area is beautiful, but needs a good cleaning and alot of maintenance work, oh and most importantly friendly people who who on site. read more

This is seriously such a beautiful ranch! The room was spacious, cozy, and so romantic with a fireplace. The bathroom was ridiculously nice. Personally made omelettes in the morning with fresh fruit and tons of other sides. Definitely want to come back and enjoy more than one night here! read more

I have no idea how this doesn't have any reviews yet. By far THE best place to stay in Pagosa Springs with surprisingly reasonable prices. You cannot beat $109 (and up) anywhere for what you're getting. Slightly off the path which I love but minutes from everything. I the views are unobstructed and beautiful. There's deer everywhere (not for hunting!) and it's just nature at its best. The hosts are so kind and there's also her sister and some others that help around the house. (There's two cabins and one being built as well) It's such a friendly place. We originally reserved the Bear Room but when we got there she actually gave us the option to stay in a large cabin for the same price. Not expected but I was grateful. It's was spotless and had everything you needed from microwaves and mini fridges to a good size bathroom and shower. You also still have free reign of the 3 story home with plenty of seating,entertainment etc. The decks and balconies are so picturesque. I am a dog person. They have three so if you're not into dogs this may not be for you but half the time they're just out and about doing their thing. Also Evelyn said people hear no AC and change their minds. We just got back from there and trust me,in the mountains you do not need it. The house was perfect and even at 88-90 our cabin was heaven. I can't rave about this place enough and can't wait to go back. Try and stay more than a weekend because it's so worth it. read more
